Took truck to Mac Haik here in Houston to perform the recall. The jam nut on drag link was welded, which was not a fix.Went back after being told truck can't be aligned with the drag link being welded. Was told I'd have to pay out of pocket for the weld to be cut, which sense have led to other issues with the front suspension. Attached is docs concerning this matter .....I been having a open claim with Dodge Chrysler and Jeep for over 2 years. Is there any remedy for such a problem?

Intermittent loss of breaking performance. Constant on off error saying service ABS and service electronic brake controller. This also effects traction control. This goes on and off several times per minute. When the warning comes on, it also disengages the cruise control if set. I carried it to the dealer, and they ran a scan, told me it was the hydraulic control unit (HCU) and the anti-lock braking system (ABS) module. They said the part was on backorder, so I guess I am stuck with driving a vehicle that is unsafe, as it has ABS and traction control issues, and no part in stock to fix it. This is wonderful news for such an expensive and robust vehicle. Nice to know that a very heavy truck pulling a trailer with a load on it no longer has working safety features for the brakes and traction control. There seriously needs to be a recall on this issue as safety is at the heart of the problem, and these trucks still have to work daily as they were designed to do. It appears there may be a recent class action lawsuit on point in the state of Texas only. It would be a much better solution if a recall was initiated heading off multiple state class action lawsuits that do not fix the problem but simply make the attorney's rich. These issues need fixed, not just a small check for compensation to the truck owner who will then likely never fix it. I feel time is of the essence.

It seems to be a very well known issue with the antilock brake control module and it affects the traction control, cruise control, and disables the trailer braking system which is extremely important, I tried to make an appointment with my local dealer and they knew exactly what I was concerned with and I was told that the part is back ordered and may take a month or two to get the part needed to make the repair. This should most definitely be a safety recall, I have several different trailers that I pull that if I had not known of the trailer braking issue with the module not working correctly it would have been a nightmare in certain circumstances

- #11502345January 18, 2023AIR BAGS
The contact owned a 2016 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, he crashed into another vehicle waiting at a stop light. The driver-side air bag did not deploy upon impact. The other driver was taken to the hospital; however, the driver's whereabouts are unknown. The contact also sustained whiplash which he was treated for days after the accident. A police report was filed. Due to the damage, the contact's vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard where it was deemed a total loss. The contact went to the dealer and notified them about the air bag failure; they then referred him to the manufacturer. The contact filed a claim with the manufacturer and an investigator was assigned to look into the failure. The investigation determined that since the contact did not depress the brake pedal prior to the accident, the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 242,000.

"Service Electronic Braking System" intermittently flashes in the dashboard, along with the orange ABS and traction control lights. Seems to happen more on bumpy roads, goes away on smoother roads, then randomly comes back. Over the span of a few weeks, the frequency of the error message has increased, and now the error lights stay on almost all the time. 47,500 miles and purchased new 3 years ago. The contact owns a 2022 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 70 MPH the ABS (Anti Lock Brake System) warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that as he slowed to exit the highway he depressed the brake pedal which went to the floorboard. The contact stated that he had no brakes and was only able to stop the vehicle using the brakes on the trailer he was towing. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, who diagnosed and determined that the rear brake fluid line had become disconnected and that brake fluid had run out of the system which is why he had no brakes. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the brakes failed again while he was on the highway, and again he had to use the trailer brakes to stop the vehicle from running into the back of another vehicle that was ahead of him. The contact stated that he saw the ABS light illuminated and he had also noticed smoke coming from under the vehicle. When the contact had pulled off the highway, he stated that he saw flames issuing from the rear wheel wells. The contact was able to use an onboard fire extinguisher, however, the flames were not controlled. The contact stated that the police and fire department had arrived on the scene and that the flames were put out using water. The contact was not aware if the police or fire department had written any reports. The vehicle was towed back to the same dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.

Intermittent warnings to service ABS system and electronic Braking System. I have had this checked by an independent mechanic and all sensors checked good. He was told by the local dealer that the ABS module is on backorder with no estimate of availability. Truck is almost due for annual inspection and registration and I do not know of it will pass the inspection.

The hydraulic control unit has indicated through the dash a warning light telling the truck needs service. The service needed indicator is intermittent and is a common issue with this year truck. Ram has a technical bulletin regarding this issue indicating how to exact repairs. This issue seems to have impacted enough truck owners to cause a national backorder shortage of the hydraulic control unit and module. Repairs through a dealership range from $1000 - $1700, however, cannot be initiated due to the national shortage of the parts.

On December 14th, I was driving my 2017 Ram 3500 with 95,000 miles down the road when I encountered a tree completely blocking the roadway. When I applied the brakes I heard a pop and the brake pedal went the the floor. At this point I had no brakes and was forced to hit the tree. Thankfully it was in a rural area and no one was killed because of the failure. My safety was defiantly put at risk because of this failure. Once stopped I was able to look under the hood and found the top bolt that holds the brake master cylinder to the firewall sheared completely off. This caused the brake master cylinder to fall away from the firewall and disabled all braking functions. I had the vehicle towed to a Ram Dealer and then contacted Ram (Stellantis) for a reason and solution to fix the failure. They sent an engineering analysis associate to look at the the truck finally on the January 9th. They then sent a very generic letter on the 12th stating that they don't believe it is a manufacturing issue. They will give the dealer or myself no further information on what they found, what the cause was, or how the dealer should proceed to fix the problem. The vehicle is still currently sitting at the Ram Dealer and has not been fixed if you would like to inspect it. There were no warning lights, messages, or prior problems associated with this failure. It was a sudden and catastrophic failure of the braking system.

- #11501289January 11, 2023ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I had a parasitic draw on my battery that became progressively worse to the point that a jump no longer worked to start the vehicle. I bought a brand new battery and it was completely dead within 24 hours even though I had only driven the vehicle about 5 miles and had the vehicle off for over 23 of these hours. I replaced the battery again and left the vehicle running while loading for a trip and 30 minutes later the battery started to release smoke from overheating. Wires and plastics around the battery were starting to melt so I completely disconnected the battery. This 2nd new battery was also dead within 24 hours of purchase. I took the vehicle to a Ram Dealership and after a lot of testing over multiple days they identified the problem as a parasitic draw from the ABS module. Please note the parasitic draw occurred whether or not the vehicle was turned on. After the dealership changed the ABS module and both batteries the vehicle has been operating ok although I still receive low battery power notices which restricts certain vehicle functions every few days. I have to turn the engine off and on to reset the error.

Service ABS and Service Electronic Braking System warnings on dash. Dealer diagnostics indicate it is necessary to replace the ABS Module and Hydraulic Control Unit, both of which are necessary for the safe operation of the vehicle. Dealer quoted $1700 for repairs and one part is on back-order indefinitely.
