ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The 8.4 inch Uconnect display acts like a ghost is pressing buttons. The radio will randomly change stations. Other modes - settings, navigation, etc will randomly be selected. When this happens cannot change any climate controls. Back up camera randomly gets activated. This is a SAFETY issue as it causes a distraction when driving. The display randomly changing is also a distraction. Researching the internet, this is not a new issue and is known. The display is "bubbling" or delaminating causing the ghosting of pressed buttons. I am out of the warranty by 6 months and am told this is not covered. I have called Uconnect (case #80418507) and they stated they cannot do anything until a dealer determines the actual problem, which I will have to pay for. I should NOT have to pay for this. This bubbling or delamination issue is well known and should be covered under a recall or warranty. This started last fall but I thought it was caused by a dirty screen. This has gradually gotten worse and happens more often.

ENGINE
I was driving down the hill on a state freeway and the engine completely shut off. The drive light was flashing but I was unable to do anything or even indicate with flashers or turn signal. I was able to move to the side of the road where I shut the key off. The car did not immediately restart. But after sitting for a bit, restarted and drove fine

ENGINE, POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I purchased my truck new in Nov 2019. Since then I have had four different occasions where my truck has stalled while driving at low speed or while shifting from drive to reverse. Two of the occasions I was pulling away from a stop and the truck stalled and I was stuck in the middle of the intersection until I put the truck in park and restarted. Luckily there was no cross traffic so there was no danger in this situation but it could have been much worse. The last occasion happened a couple weeks ago when I was moving my truck in my driveway. I shifted to drive and pulled forward then put my truck in reverse. As I put my truck in reverse it immediately stalled. I put it in park and was able to immediately restart it. However, it did have a check engine light on. The next morning I was going to take the truck to the dealer to have the light checked but it had cleared itself and there are no codes stored so the dealer can't do anything.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Ram 1500 Eco Diesel remains on after it was turned off. Has happened several times over the week to where we are scared to park in our driveway and garage. We don't have another vehicle right now since that is in the shop so we have no voiced but to take the risk and used it. Sensors come on when there is no object in site and truck breaks automatically where its causing a safety issue. I have video but I can't upload it since the system only takes pictures.

STEERING:RACK AND PINION
The contact's husband owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the steering wheel locked as the steering wheel symbol warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic where it was kept for a week but not repaired. The contact then had the vehicle towed to a dealer where it remained in their possession for repairs to other recalls on the vehicle. The contact was notified by the dealer that the rack and pinion was the cause of the steering failure; however, there were no recalls on the vehicle for the rack and pinion. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they also informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle for the rack and pinion. The contact was informed that she would receive a call back from the manufacturer but had not yet received the call back. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SEATS
The screen, used for HVAC functions, seat heating/cooling, radio, hands-free bluetooth, backup camera, etc, becoming delaminated. Screen will randomly think that it is being pressed and disconnect phone calls, modify HVAC levels, and change radio stations. This is becoming a widely recognized issue across several vehicles that use the Uconnect 8.4 inch touchscreen (CDJR vehicles). Car accident just occurred that yielded in the truck being totaled (with driver injury) and air bags did not deploy. It is currently at the tow yard awaiting the insurance company's visit. It has not yet been inspected. There were no messages on the dash regarding the air bags prior to this accident.

2019 DODGE RAM. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ILLUMINATED SERVICE LIGHTS. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT AND ADAPTABLE CRUISE CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING, LEAKED A LIQUID, SMOKE EMITTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE DASHBOARD WENT DARK. ALSO THE TAILGATE OPENS INTERMITTENTLY, RADIO SHUTS OFF INDEPENDENTLY, VOLTS ARE READING LOW, AND BATTERY IS IN SAVER MODE.

Exhaust manifold leak due to both rear studs breaking on each side of the engine. This is my 3rd dodge ram with the 5.7 liter engine that has had this problem. The other vehicle years were a 2003 Ram 2500 and a 2014 Ram 1500. With as many complaints about this problem, I am surprised there hasn't been a fix and a recall. So far, I am 3 trucks each with the same issue. I would think that two exhaust manifolds leaking in the engine compartment would pose as a safety issue by breathing the fumes sucked into the cab.

The dealer repaired this issue thanks to an extended warranty.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2015 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the vehicle was repaired under the recall. Upon return of the vehicle, the contact stated that the vehicle immediately began to stall without warning while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact then took the vehicle to North Knox Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (225 Callahan Dr, Knoxville, TN 37912) where they kept the vehicle for a month and determined that the failure was related to the turbo charger. The turbo charger was replaced under warranty however, despite the repair, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

STEERING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
WHEN DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED THE POWER STEERING ASSIST SHUT OFF. THE RED LIGHT WITH THE POWER STEERING SYMBOL AND ! CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND IT WAS WORKING AGAIN, U TIL I CAME TO A LOW SPEED. CHECKED THE FUSE #78 AND IT LOOKED OK, PLUGGED IT BACK IN AND NO ISSUE FOR 3 & 1/2 DAYS , UNTIL THIS MORNING. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE ON RAM 1500 YRS 2013 to 2019, BUT MY VIN DOES NOT REGISTER FOR THE RECALL. THIS STARTED MONDAY EVENING.

The contact owns a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while moving out of a parking space, the steering fault warning light illuminated, and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer who stated that the vehicle was not included in an unknown recall. The contact was informed that the rack and pinion steering column needed to be replaced. The contact had a certified mechanic repair the vehicle. The contact stated that water leaked into the circuit and caused the failure to reoccur. The contact took the vehicle to a car wash several months later and water leaked into the circuit causing the failure to recur. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.

STEERING
Turned ignition to on, installed seat belt. Turned ignition to start, dash icons lit up and went out except a new one. Put in drive and had no power steering. Backed up, turned off ignition. restarted engine with power steering working. Drove vehicle. Next day, no power steering. This time would not reset. Researched problem on computer, finding others having same problem. Checked fuses finding relating ones good, and no power steering pump. Will consult a mechanical solution.

STEERING
The Electronic Power Steering (EPS) system threw a code for a short circuit and the EPS system failed. I lost my power steering while on the road and was unable to safely operate my RAM. The power steering light indicator was on. This problem was serviced at Apple Chrysler Dodge in Hanover PA on July 21 2021, invoice attached, costing me $2653.43. This is the SAME ISSUE that was addressed for both the 2015 and 2016 RAM 1500s in a recall for “loss of power steering assist”, issued March 23, 2016 (NHTSA No 16V167000).

I Just bought this car, i get a notice from DMV 2-recalls have not been fixed on this truck I am not driving it until it is repaired, i need to drive it soon for I have a son on a ventilator i need to drive to the Dr only. I am getting the run around with dodge called 5-dealers to hear all different stories why this cannot be taken care of. if i bring it to the local repair shop dodge should pay i need my vehicle

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the electronic gas recovery module had malfunctioned, and the engine intake manifold was cracked. The vehicle was not repaired.
