I was driving down the road when the air suspension went out. My truck started bouncing and I almost lost control of my truck. I had to pull over and see what the issue was. The air suspension works whe. It wants too. It's very dangerous driving on the freeway when the suspension goes out.

STEERING
Bought new Ram 1500 BigHorn in March 2020. In August 2021, I noticed on long left curves, my steering would stick at the 10-11 o'clock position and remains in that position coming out of the curve when I tug the steering wheel to the right. Since it was out of warranty for an alignment, I brought it to a Firestone 2 weeks ago for the alignment. I noticed the issue again and brought it back to Firestone where they did another alignment. They suggested its a rack and pinion issue. Today, September 13th, I called the only 2 RAM dealers in town and explained my situation and they said it could be weeks for them to get parts. This is my only vehicle and I am driving it from Arizona to North Carolina to relocate for a new job. I wanted this documented in case something happens on my 2200 mile trip that is caused by the steering. Thanks.

PEB AND FCW with BRAKING did not work when truck hit a 90 gallon empty trash can at less than 6 mph. There was no damage to the truck nor the can. These systems are supposed to brake when the truck is about to hit something. If the can were a person, damage would have been done. The dealer service man said he thought it should have braked and scheduled to be looked at September 27, 2021 at 8 AM. There was no known warnings at the time of this incident in August 2021.

STEERING
We have intermittent loss of power steering resulting in hard steering and then coming back on, resulting in easy steering with no warning. We have checked connections under the vehicle at the steering unit and they are good and clean. We had an analyzer hooked up to check and it said no communication with the module. I see online this has happened frequently on these vehicles and feel it is a safety concern that FCA should address. I talked to FCA service and they said there are no open recalls on this vehicle. This happens at all speeds and was rarely happening but increasing in frequency for the last couple of months. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
8.4 inch Uconnect display has intermittent "ghost" pressing buttons. This causes the radio station to change, settings to change, back up camera to activate for minutes at a time, and now phone calls are being terminated. I am in Illinois and we have a "hands free" law for cellular phone use. The phone calls being randomly terminated could interrupt emergency communications. This random termination of phone calls is a huge distraction because you look at the radio display to see what is going on and then try to interact with the display to fix it. The root cause of this is the bubbling or delamination of the 8.4 inch Uconnect display. This delamination has been a known issue since 2013. My delamination issues are getting worse. I continue to report these issues to Uconnect, but they tell me there is nothing they can do.

POWER TRAIN
On August 28, 2021, I was driving towards Huntsville, TX, on Hwy 30, a rural divided highway with two lanes in each direction. The speed limit is 70. The truck was empty except for me, and a few tools. I had the cruise control set at 60 mph and was going up a slight hill when then truck suddenly and violently popped out of gear. At first, I thought someone had hit me from behind. Fortunately, there was nobody close to me and I coasted to the side of the road and stopped. After a few minutes trying to calm down and read the truck manual--I never turned the engine off-- I followed the instructions to shift back to P (Park) and then select a gear. I did this and the bell ringing and flashing lights stopped. So I shifted to drive and took off again. This time I did not use the cruise control--just slowly got back up to speed. Then BOOM! Once again, around 60mph about 4 miles down the road, the truck popped out of gear a second time violently and suddenly with no warning. Once again, I coasted to a stop and just sat there halfway freaked out. Finally, I turned the emergency blinkers on and crept into Huntsville at 30 mph. The next day, Sunday, August 29, I started the truck to see what would happen, and the Check Engine light was no longer lit up. I phoned the Wischnewsky Dodge dealership in Huntsville, TX, and the Service Manager Chris Lovelady said I could bring the truck in and he would read the codes at no charge. On Friday, September 3, I met Service Manager Chris Lovelady at 11am and he downloaded the codes. I took a picture of the three codes (file uploaded below). He said the significant code of the three was P0984 Shift Solenoid 5 Control Circuit Range/Performance. He stated that since the codes were 'Stored' and not 'Active', he could not work on the truck--he said I had to drive it some more. If this incident had happened on the crowded freeway in Houston where I live, there most certainly would have been a wreck.

AIR BAGS
The contact owned a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the air bags failed to deploy. The contact stated that when driving at 55 mph in the right lane, a vehicle leaving a gas service station entered the traffic and failed to yield to the right of way, the vehicle entered the contact's lane and the contact was unable to stop and crashed into the vehicle's rear end. The driver's air bag failed to deploy upon impact. The contact's face hit the steering wheel causing the contact injury to the mouth and caused the contact to lose a top and button tooth, the contact's nose was fractured, his face was swollen, and he also suffered injuries to the neck. The contact was taken by ambulance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The contact was advised by the insurance company that the vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 57,000.

STEERING
When turning left at speeds over 40 mph the steering sticks or loses power assist when coming out of the turn. Turning to the right is unaffected and works normally. Been to the dealer with this complaint twice, each time they said there was no fault code and they could not find a problem. Driving at highway speeds in traffic can be very scary, anyone that drives this truck and is not aware of this steering issue could result in a wreck.

I had the vehicle in park. When i shifter the knob to drive everything completely shut off. The screen said to press the petal and start the vehicle. It wouldn't do anything. After a bit i was able to press the ignition button a few times to cycle and start the vehicle.

Uconnect 8.4 inch display is bubbling or delaminating. This morning I was driving thru city traffic, about 5 miles total. The "ghost" was pushing buttons on the display changing radio stations, settings etc. Suddenly the BACK UP CAMERA CAME ON. Then it would turn off. I started timing the on time, and it lasted from 2 minutes to 4 minutes. This would randomly happen. VERY distracting and could lead to an accident. I consulted the google and learned there was a recall for something similar of the back up camera staying on too long when shifting out of reverse. NHTSA #20V191000. What has happened to me is far worse than that recall.

The backup camera in this truck has intermittently blacked out for over a year. The have changed several parts and the system still has problems and doesn’t work right. While reversing, the camera will black out or the picture will become distorted.

Cam shaft went out in March of 2021. Causes the truck to have sudden lose of power. Purchased RAM brand new in November 2016, wouldn't expect the Engine/Cam shaft to go out before 5 years.
