I had repeated issues with sudden downshifts while driving starting around 80,000 miles. By 83,000 miles it was doing it weekly or more frequently. It would shift down to first gear no matter what gear it was in. I would have trouble getting it to shift back even if I stopped and turned it off or tried the manual’s “fix” of pressing the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time for at least 30 seconds. I paid $2300 to fix a transmission barely past 80,000 miles. Besides the safety issue, the impact on daily life in general is a mess. Ford should have to recall all recent years and fix or repay the customers like me who had to pay Ford to fix their defects.

No warning lamps but this could cause injury due to not having working tailgate lamps. Lamps started flickering like it was shorting and then just stopped turning on. Item that is not working. 2022-2024 Ford F-150 Lightning EV LED Center Tail Light Bar OEM NL34-13N466-AC

When backing Ford f-150 up on any kind of an incline rear end is locked up for about ten seconds causing a safety risk. When shifting from reverse to drive. Does not do this on a flat surface. Have almost been hit three times now by cars coming around the corner of my street. Does not throw a code. Been at dealership a couple weeks. Dealership sent tech to house to observe. Did it every time! Truck only has 800 miles on it.

The truck has a body frame that was cracked in several spots and welded back together in more then 5 different spots and the welding job is very poor. The truck has a power steering line leak, cvs axle leaks and a exhaust manifold leak. The dealership fixed upper ball joints when we agreed on lower and upper in the front. They added a exhaust but did not do the job correctly with completing the job and the welding of it. Ive made a complaint with the loan company and i as well have talked to the owner of the dealership and he fights that none of those things are wrong with the truck and im lying but i have had a inspection done on the truck. When i got the truck i looked it over and so did my brother i pointed the issues of what needed fixed that i could see and that was not done. I then started having issues with the truck and took it to a mechaninc and had an inspection done

While maintaining a fixed speed (~55mph) up a slight incline, the vehicle rapidly shifted from 6th gear to a lower (presumably 1st given rpm/torque change) gear. While in normal use at that speed in 6th gear, the torque converter is in a "locked up" (direct mechanical connection) state- the sudden gear change plus "locked up" torque converter caused the engine speed to rapidly jump past its "red-line." Unable to compensate for the instant change in torque, the rear wheels locked up and the truck began to slide- I was able to regain control of the vehicle as it slid off the road and come to a stop. No injuries. After stopping briefly to assess the situation, I got underway- it became quickly obvious that the transmission has sustained extensive damage in the incident as it began to "shudder" intermittently. Further research and testing by myself using consumer diagnostic tools revealed that the torque converter sustained damage, particularly in the internal clutch (the mechanism that allows for a direct engine to transmission connection at high speed for better fuel economy), which is now failing to fully engage and disengage at some speeds and causing the transmission to "shudder". This conclusion was reached by observing the "desired torque converter slip" (measured in rpm) and comparing to the "measured torque converter slip" during a variety of conditions. It is unclear to me what caused the sudden gear change, but it caused extensive (and expensive) damage to my vehicle. This problem presents a major safety concern to myself and other vehicles around me and could result in a crash if it occurs again. Other F150s (one body-style older I believe) with the same transmission had a similar recall recently- had this also been addressed by the manufacturer on the 15-17 trucks, this incident (and extremely costly repair) may have been prevented.

I was on [XXX] in traffic near Clarksville TN when the transmission failed on my truck and I had no power and had to weave through traffic coasting to get over to the shoulder and out of harms way. Consequently I am currently having the transmission built at a cost of over $6800. I shouldn't have to spend $7000 for a new/rebuilt transmission on a $70,000 truck that I've only had a little over 4 years. My transmission shop says if you get 100,000 miles out of the 10R80 transmission consider yourself lucky, they are rebuilding them practically every day. Please make Ford reimburse anyone who has a failure in this transmission!!!!!!! They are 100% aware they are [XXX]and have done nothing about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been having problems with the power train on the F150 10 speed transmission. There are times that the vehicle loses power and the engine speed drops to nearly zero. This has happened on several occasions while I'm driving into an intersection, or ongoing lane. The unexpected loss of acceleration is extremely dangerous as the oncoming vehicles aren't expecting my vehicle to come to a stop. I believe Ford is aware of this problem, yet nothing is being done to alleviate the issue. It can be an expensive repair. They would have to replace the PCM module and reprogram the vehicles electronics. They have offered up alternative fixes, but none of them seem to work and the alternative fix can be expensive to the consumer. The problem started far in advance before my warranty ran out and yet Ford would deny the problem and I couldn't get any Ford dealer to remedy the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I Have a 2019 ford 150 3.5 eco boost with a 10 speed transmission. I will be driving along with no issues with the vehichle shifting and then all of the sudden it will shift hard, jerk, clunk make noises I have no warning lights or check engine lights, I went to a local parts store and they said that a bad coil pack could cause this issue, however I have brand new coil packs and plugs and the pickup is firing in order. I then had taken it to a local transmission place and they had told me that this transmission should be recalled and possibly needs a software update. Is this something I should pay for if it going to keep happening or should a ford dealership be liable?

While driving the vehicle going approximately 35 mph in heavy traffic the vehicle shifted to neutral without driver input as evident by +8000 rpms (bottomed out) and swift deceleration. No warning lights or indicators. No response when driver input to acceleration pedal. Vehicle would not shift into gear. After breaking to approx 15 mph Vehicle shifted VERY roughly w/no accelerator response and return to normal rpms. After waiting in neutral on the side for a minute accelerator response returned. hard and delayed shifting remained. Vehicle is currently being serviced by a ford dealer in Florida who relays no warning or trouble codes found - but recommended a transmission rebuild reference black fluid w/o leaks. Fluid was initially a quart and a half low. Transmission has an extended warranty and is getting replaced. 10r80 10 spd transmission with the EXACT same issue for the recent recall of a different year/ transmission model # by ford. Coincidence- I think not.
