ENGINE, SERVICE BRAKES
On three occasions now the engine has stalled after stopping for stop sign then attempting to accelerate and continue driving. When this occurs the emergency brake is also self deployed causing a sudden and hard stop. This could lead to a rear end collision and possible injury. Ironically this has happened at the exact same stop sign all three times. There were no warning lamps or any indication at all of any engine issues prior to or after the engine stalling. I have owned the vehicle for 16 months and it has 16k miles on it. The vehicle drives fine after each incident. I am contacting the dealer i purchased the truck from today about this issue. It will be the first time reaching out about this problem.

ENGINE, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On three occasions within 72 hours, and while towing a vehicle up an incline, the vehicle presented the "service electronic throttle" malfunction indicator. The vehicle lost power and would not accelerate. The design of the road that I was travelling upon during two of the events, had no shoulders. The third location where the error presented was on heavily travelled two lane highway. In all three circumstances the failure presented risk to my personal safety losing substantial ability to operate the vehicle in a predictable and reliable manner. This failure is not anecdotal. There are literally hundreds of unique instances being reported across just one owner's forum alone. Hundreds more on others.

I have had multiple incidents of my 2022 Ram 1500 ETorque, when coming to a stop the auto start stop system engages and when I let my foot off the brake to take off the truck will not start the engine back. It will engage the parking brake and shift into park, sometimes will start back with the start button depressed. I have had at least 4 different incidents where it leaves me sitting in heavy traffic in a dangerous spot. The CEL has come on twice, other times the "Service Start/Stop System" and "Service Charging System" have come on. I have had it to my dealer in Fayetteville, Arkansas 4 times. They have reprogrammed the ECM, the Hybrid Module, and the Motor Generator Unit, with no improvement in issue.

As I was driving up my driveway preparing to stop in front of the garage, the Ram accelerated out of control, as if someone else was driving the truck. I could not stop it, even with my foot on the brake, until the truck crashed into my house. Even stopped, the engine was revving/racing until I turned the ignition off.

The contact owns a 2024 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving with his family at approximately 70 MPH, several unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the vehicle lost motive power and came to a complete stop in the middle of the highway. Additionally, the hazards lights failed to engage as needed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer informed the contact that the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,500.

POWER TRAIN
Ice and snow packs in the underbody of the truck. Specifically, over the exposed cable that moves a few inches to transition the truck to park (for ram trucks with rotary knob for shifter) Ice builds up on exposed cable and prevents truck from safely shifting into park causing error messages and rolling concerns. This issue has been confirmed with my dealership and is all over ram 1500 online forums from 2016 to present. Cable needs to be protected (encased) from snow/ice build up.

When I was driving on a very busy road, the emergency/ parking brake immediately turned on while the truck was returning back in motion, which made the car come to a complete stop. I had to manually turn off the parking brake, even though I was not the one to turn it on in the first place. This could have put the people behind me in serious danger, as they could have hit me and then been seriously injured. The problem was brought to the attention of the manufacturer, and they had just asked me if I had turned on the brake with my knee. After being met with an apology, I was asked to bring the truck into the servicer the following morning. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and they only appeared after this had happened.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On two separate incidents my 2024 RAM [XXX] with ESC displayed multiple dashboard alerts while turning at low speed with an driver alert instruction to shift the knob to park with truck still rolling. On both incidents the engine was shut-off while the vehicle was still rolling. Very dangerous but I had to stop the vehicle completely and shift to park then restart the truck. I will attempt to get camera pics of the display next time it happens. Similar to 2025 RAM ESC recall, the crash safety features are disabled until the vehicle is stopped and restarted. Just before I was completely stopped at a red light, the engine died, the transmission shifted to park, and the emergency brake was set. After several minutes and several attempts, the engine started and I was able to drive it home. The only indication something was wrong was the “Check Engine” light was on. That light was off the next morning. I took it to the local Ram dealer to be checked out. The result of the computer diagnosis was “Nonplausable codes.” They said there was nothing they could do. Our fear was (and remains) is that this might happen again while driving at a higher speed in heavy traffic. That could possibly cause serious injury or death, or both. Due to that serious concern, we took it back to the dealer and ask them to keep it for a while to see if it happened with them. While they had it, different personnel drove it over 400 miles, but the problem was not reproduced. Also, no recall has been issued for this model truck. However, there has been a recall for other models with the Etorque engine because of unexpected stalling. We are concerned every time we drive it. In fact, my wife will not drive it nor take the grandkids anywhere in it.

STEERING
The Electronic Power Steering malfunction while driving. The “Service Power Steering” warning light was illumiated and no power assisted steering was available during failure. The vehicle was nearly impossible to steer off the highway. Luckily other drivers were paying attention and were able to steer clear of me. Waited about an hour in a parking lot with the Truck off and when I restarted it Power Steering was working again. The Truck was brought to the Dealership and I was told they were unable to replicate the issue and to bring it back if it does. I also started hearing a grinding sound when making a slow right hand turn. After the 3rd occurance of losing Power Steering while driving I brought it back to the Dealer and they replaced the steering rack. After about a year the replacement rack is exhibiting the same symptoms. I tow a 5th wheel trailer and if I lose Power Steering while hauling that heavy load myself and others around me can be seriously injured.

The Issue I am having is related to the Start/Stop function in the vehicle. Under normal circumstances when Start/Stop is on, and when it engages at a stop, the engine turns off when the brake is depressed. When lifting your foot off the brake, the engine restarts and you can immediately drive forward. My concern is when I come to a stop on an incline, which is very common in the Cincinnati area. When I come to a stop on an incline and Start/Stop is on, and when it engages, the vehicle turns off as it should. As I lift my foot off the brake, the engine starts... All seems fine up to this point... However in my situation, the transmission does not engage immediately. The vehicle will rev up to about 2K RPM and about 2 seconds later the car jerks into forward motion. This happens nearly every time I come to a stop on a hill. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN ON RED... A couple times, I thought I had plenty of room to make a turn only to have another car seem to be right on top of me by the time the my vehicle transmission engaged and I started to move. I took this vehicle to a RAM dealership only to have them say the issue could not be duplicated and that it is operating as designed. I was informed to simply turn off the Start/Stop system. That is NOT a satisfactory answer, especially when there isn't a way to permanently turn the system off. Frustrated with that dealership, I currently have it at another dealership and am currently being told a similar story, but was also told that it can be normal for it to take a couple seconds for all systems to begin talking to each other once the vehicle restarts. Not satisfied with that answer, I am going on a test drive with them tomorrow morning. If the answer is in fact that this issue is as designed, then there should be a large warning label on the dash to TURN OFF START/STOP ON HILLS or the software updated so Start/Stop does not engage on inclines.

My lights on dash come on stablizer,abs, anti slip and 4 wheel drive and it wants to jerk to left like brake activating had it looked at poages Hannibal mo fixed wheel speed sensor didn't help so now said nothing they can do theres no solution. I can't drive my truck to scared of it . Need to get something I don't have a vehicle and making a payment on something I can't drive. Don't know if I can trust this vehicle anymore can't trade it In nobody wants it please somebody help GET RAM company in gear to take care of this before somebody gets hurt or even killed

Hello. While driving on the highway at 65MPH and decelerating down to 35MPH ,about to take a single-lane, curved, and elevated exit, the vehicle dashboard emitted a ping and engine turned off. The dashboard showed a message indicating to press the brake and push the ON/OFF button to start the vehicle (as it normally does when it is off). The ON/OFF button showed the RUN signal as if the engine was still on. 2 seconds later the ENGINE light turned on. It was followed by several messages in the dashboard including ESC system offline. Then the battery signal, as well as many others, turned on. After coming to a complete stop the vehicle engage the park brake on its own. When pressing the brake and pushing the start button the first time, the ignition engaged and stayed engaged for ~5-7 seconds without actually starting the engine. On the second try, after the ignition disengaged and the start button actually showed the OFF position, the vehicle started as normal. The engine light stayed on but no other noticeable effects were perceived. After turning the vehicle off and restarting it two times the engine light stayed off. The incident was not reproduced over the 24-hour period after its onset. As mentioned before, this happened on the highway and the vehicle was coasted on a single lane feeder until a relatively safe spot was located to stop. However, the safety of the pilot and others was at stake as the pass was very narrow. Fortunately, the driver did not had the need to step out of the vehicle and, after restarting it, managed to drive it to safety. This happened 24 hours ago. No vehicle inspection has been performed yet.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed. The dealer replaced the wheel speed sensor; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who confirmed that the failure was related to the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact stated that while inspecting the tires, he noticed that the front and rear driver's side tires sidewalls were dry rotted. The dealer was notified of the failure.
