As I backed into a parking spot I proceeded to try to switch from drive to reverse to straighten out and the lever went floppy. I am stuck in drive with the emergency brakes engaged. The wires under the column shifter wore at just the right time to what appears would be the clock spring!!

I took my Titan into the dealership due to a knocking sound in the motor. The same day Nissan service called me and said the motor has to be replaced, that the know is coming from the Crankshaft. I have 112,000 miles on my truck and have completed every service required without question at the dealership purchased from. There is no way a diesel motor crank should brake at 112,000 miles. I have contacted Nissan customer Affairs and am awaiting a reply, however after reading several forums concerning the same failure problem, I decided to voice my complaint at a higher level. I have also have had the power steering system replaced twice under warranty due to power steering Failure. Nissan has stated the repair cost under warranty would be approximately $33,000. I might as well as purchase two of these at the price it will cost me to fix.

The parking brake has never been sufficient to prevent the vehicle from rolling slightly even after the vehicle has been placed in park. There is no audible alarm if you back up and the parking brake is set. The engine torque allows you to drive forward and reverse with ease even with the brake set, and a small dash light is the only indication that the brake is still set. When asking the dealership to adjust the brake and fix the issue they require the customer to pay for the service despite the brake being faulty from manufacture.

The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Titan. The contact received notification of a Nissan internal air bag recall before which the air bag warning light was flashing on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to complete the recall and diagnosed a failure with the air bag inflator and air bag control module. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to the internal manufacturer recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 132,000.

I am the owner of a 2016 Nissan Titan xd, which has a 5.0 diesel engine. I have concerns reading about the current status of a preliminary investigation by your agency regarding the crankshaft breakdown while driving without or warning. My vehicle has 57,000 miles, and while I still have not suffered breakdown I do Have concerns on the safe driving this Titan XD. I purchased this vehicle to travel towing a travel trailer, and traveling with our grandchildren. I reading what other Titan owners have indicated, I now have concern on the safety of traveling in highways and suffering such a breakdown. I also travel on mountain roads to reach vacation sites around our area, and having no control in such conditions make me unsure of the safe travels. I worry on my $52,000 investment may be non dependable, or unsafe to use. i am requesting a your agency find a conclusion to the investigation as soon as possible, as the safety of owners, and other drivers could be in danger. I welcome updates of the progress of the investigation via email [XXX] , or mail box [XXX] . I also welcome phone contact at [XXX] . Thank you for your agency service to protect the welfare and safety of Highway, and vehicle hazards. I was driving down the Freeway at 70mph, My truck lost power, I was in the fast lane I nearly missed a car due to my truck losing power, I pulled off to the shoulder. I noticed a knocking sound coming from my engine bay, no check engine messages appeared on my dashboard. I turned my engine off because of the noise, and had my car towed home. I have a friend who is a diesel mechanic at a Nissan dealership look at my truck and was told the engine needs to be replaced.

Fuel sender unit doesn’t work. Doesn’t log when the tank is full stays on empty at all times. Research shows this is a known issue with other Nissan models but I don’t see a recall for this model.

There is a known issue with the engine where the cylinder 7 is scored. If left untreated it is possible that the engine could misfire or stop working all together due to oil entering the engine. Tried contacting Nissan about it and was told that it is not their problem since it is out of warranty. Currently the engine produces a loud ticking and there is lack of power. A dealership has inspected and confirmed the issue and stated it does need repaired or it is not safe to drive.

78000 miles both turbos blown. Nissan says they have some kind of warrantee up to 150000 miles and will fix one but not both. when you can't run the truck with only 1, the big one took out the small one and now it sits at dealer. The entire fuel system replaced only a hundred miles ago for over $17000.00 an now expected to pay $5200 for the small turbo. This truck was supposed to last 500.000 miles what a lemon.

I purchased this vehicle in 2022 with 62000 miles on it for $45000, cash first newer vehicle ever paid for in cash, 1st day i drove it, check engine light for turbo failure came on, i normally put 80-100k miles on a vehicle per year, ive owned over 200 diesel vehicles in last 25 years, never have i had one stay in the shop more than driving it. Not only does it stay in the shop, but you have to locate a shop that still has a diesel technician employed. Two turbo actuator replacements, lift pump replacement, 18 shop visits for check engine lights, 5 times in a row at buford ga nissan, drove away and light came back on before making it home. [XXX] my family and I was driving to florida , doing 55mph, No check engine lights, no noises, no warnings, motor shut down in 21 degree weather, side of [XXX] in tucker georgia for 4 hours waiting for a tow truck, only thing on screen was DEF error see dealer immediately, $550 to tow vehicle back to my house because closest dealership did NOT have a diesel tech, spent two months to find a company that would tow my truck 55 miles from gainesville georgia to roswell georgia to regal nissan, the girl called me and said it needed a starter for $900plus dollars, i laughed and said there's no way in hell a starter caused this motor to die, i informed her that if starter did Not work i was not paying, two days later she calls me back up and informs me the motor is locked up, does not know why, but pay them $178 diagnosis fee, and for $1300-$2000 they could tell me exactly what failed, if u read online, trucks like mine fail between 50000-100000 miles with no warning no nothing! i am now stuck with another $330 tow bill to pick vehicle up and store it at my shop and pray that your organization can hold NIssan accountable, Nissans recommendation was for $30000 to put the exact same unmodified garbage of a motor back in this truck, please somebody hold this company accountable!!!!!! thanks INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was traveling on the freeway at 75 miles per hour, the truck began to bog down for a few seconds then started to shake violently as if a tire was falling off, a few seconds later the engine shut off at maybe 60 miles per hour. I was unable to steer or brake properly and had very little control of where I was able to pull over. I had no power at all and the truck would not start. I was stuck on [XXX] in central Utah with drivers side tires of the truck in traffic on the right lane unable to pull over more or move the truck to a safe location. My wife and daughter were in the vehicle and I made them exit the vehicle and find a somewhat safe place to sit on the side of the freeway. It failed completely without and check engine light, the engine temperature never spiked until after it failed. The vehicle was obstructing traffic for 45 minute to an hour while I waited for a small town mechanic to come and tow it. This incident occurred the end of May 2023 and the truck is still not functioning as I cannot afford the $18-22,000 engine replacement for a broken crankshaft. The vehicle has 77,000 miles on it. It failed without any warning signs and definitely put my life, my families life, and 1000's of passing motorists at risk for an hour straight as the vehicle was incapacitated and obstructing traffic. I have read 100's of forum posts an articles concerning this same issue with zero concern from Nissan. The local dealerships claim they have never heard of this issue, but it is a known issue and could cause a fatal or catastrophic accident. The engine started to make strange noise that sound like piston failure. I took the truck to Boulder Nissan in Colorado. They Diagnosed and confirmed scoring/cylinder wall damage in cylinder #7. This is apparently a known issue for the 5.6L V8 and there is a Nissan bulletin [XXX]. The Nissan bulletin recommends replacing the short block and I was quoted $21969.60, which is more the current value of the vehicle. My truck has 113k miles, all maintenance has been completed as recommend. I did file a complaint with Nissan Consumer Affairs the case #[XXX]. However, since my truck is no longer under warranty they would not pay for repairs. This issue with this process is since this failure is a known issue which would lead to complete engine failure, Why would Nissan not inspect these engines when they are at the dealer for service? I was told by the dealer they have seen this happen to vehicles with as little as 14K miles on them. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
