The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Titan XD. The contact stated that there was an abnormally strong fuel odor coming from the vehicle and there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine while idling. The contact stated that while driving 55-60 MPH, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode, and the driver had to pull over and wait for approximately 10 minutes before resuming driving. The check engine warning light was constantly illuminated. The messages "DEF System Severely Impacted" and "Reduced Engine Power - See Dealer" were displayed during the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the dealer declined to perform repairs under TSB Number: NTB19-017 associated with the failure because the required trouble code was not retrieved. The contact, who was an independent mechanic, retrieved the required DTC through a diagnostic scan. The contact stated that the dealer denied repairs due to a lack of warranty extension coverage. After the contact provided proof of warranty extension coverage, the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice, where an actuator was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to Route 9 Nissan (273 Turnpike Rd, Westborough, MA 01581), where the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under the warranty extension and did not produce the required code. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and two cases were filed. The manufacturer initially denied the warranty extension coverage but later informed the contact that the vehicle required another dealer diagnosis before coverage or field technician inspection could be considered. The contact stated that the manufacturer’s national history record for the vehicle listed the fuel type as gasoline instead of diesel. The failure mileage was approximately 135,899.

1st experience of electrical problems with this vehicle system failing was approximately 9 month into my ownership. It would not start the Tech who was sent to assist went through a lot to get the vehicle started, in less than one year multiple issues the 1st batter was finally replaced . As of 2026 May ? 4th new battery replaced in this vehicle, I have still had to be towed or assisted multiple times since then Problems include but are not limited to warning lights displaying while driving indicating crashes and other things, radio / Infotainment Touch screen going black while driving and then coming back on like when the vehicle starts. Cruise control driving system malfunctions, not engaging Vehicle not recognizing key fobs despite me & dealership replacing batteries I have been stranded multiple times traveling with and without my family as vehicle would not start and waiting on help in multiple states. I personally bought AAA & Good Sam’s over the years to supplement the need for assistance in traveling because it happen so randomly and caused great distress to me having disabilities . I have had issues with the gas mile dropping and even have email messages from manufacture that something was wrong with that vehicle system I have had issues with high beam lights not functioning properly leaving me to manually drive & hold on while driving at times because they would not function properly I have taken the vehicle to the dealership so much being told " NOT TO COME BACK UNLESS LIGHTS WERE BEING DISPLAYED " and then when I did and recorded some incidents they would say they could not duplicate ,’ I needed to drive more’ , ‘I just needed to get a new vehicle’ , ‘It was out of warranty or I would have to pay for them to even inspect it’ , only to have to replace another battery or replace some wire sometime thereafter at my expense on occasion Nissan did final inspection 3 December 2025 offered me 12,500 dollars but said they found nothing wrong

MANUFACTURING DEFECT: 2020 Nissan Titan roof ditch seam sealer failure. Factory sealer cracked/peeled under roof moldings, allowing heavy rainwater ingress into vehicle cab. FAILED WARRANTY REMEDY: Authorized Nissan dealer completed a $0.00 warranty repair on 12/30/2025 at 36,678 miles. Vehicle purchased used on 01/16/2026 at 36,777 miles (17 days/99 miles post-repair). On 08/12/2026 at 43,133 miles, a certified Nissan facility diagnosed total failure of the previous repair. The factory defect failed again in under 8 months and 6,455 miles. ELECTRICAL SAFETY HAZARD: Water channels directly down A/B-pillars onto vital electronic modules, causing severe component short-circuits. Requires complete electronic module/wiring harness replacements. Leaking onto active electrical components poses an imminent risk of sudden dashboard blackouts, complete vehicle stalling while in motion, or short-circuit electrical fires if left unrepaired. ENVIRONMENTAL/HEALTH HAZARD: Continuous un-remedied flooding can cause rapid, extensive toxic black mold growth throughout the headliner and interior cabin, creating an immediate severe respiratory health hazard for occupants. The prior repair replaced the headliner due to this exact issue. CURRENT STATUS: Certified Nissan facility issued a $3,000 estimate, explicitly noting more damages will be found upon teardown. Nissan Consumer Affairs formally denied coverage because the calendar warranty period recently expired, refusing to honor or correct their own failed, incomplete warranty repair. The manufacturer is leaving a severe, documented safety and health hazard completely unaddressed. Due to continued rain, un-remedied repairs, and refusal from Nissan to help mitigate costs from the failed warranty repair the rust is ongoing. This is a known issue with these trucks and Nissan refuses to issue a recall to help repair the vehicles leaving many owners with costly repair bills and vehicles that are unsafe.

Vehicle has on a handful of occasions stalled or has no throttle response, when taking off from a stop light. The last 2 times this happened the truck engine was till running, but had no throttle response. I had to shift to neutral and pump gas with no input to throttle. Vehicle is very dangerous to drive. Dealership has had numerous repair attempts while vehicle was still under WT. I still don't trust vehicle as it still has very little throttle input idle is terrible and truck lurches on take off's. There is a Nissan Consumers affairs case open on truck with a settlement of $1700 dollars with me taking all the risk. Vehicle is now out of warranty as of a few weeks ago.

After about a year and a half, my truck either won’t want to start or won’t start. I purchased my truck new in early 2022 and I am on my 3rd new battery. Now in late 2026, they are telling me that I shouldn’t take short trips because the “smart charger” won’t have enough time to fully charge the battery. I have read that people are disconnecting something on the truck and it fixes the problem. I am not a mechanic and I don’t feel like I have to regulate what trips I take in my fairly new vehicle. I have recently been leaving my truck running when I take short trips because I don’t have time to wait on someone to jump me off if the truck won’t start. Also, I have been jumped off twice in the past and it takes an hour or two to wait. I also get check manual in the dash and other warnings to don’t make sense.

The truck suddenly and without warning drops into an un-acceleratable 'limp mode' while traveling at highway speeds in active traffic, presenting an immediate rear-end collision hazard. Nissan acknowledges this is a Turbo Failure and replaced it in 2021 and 2023 and now the turbo, actuator and dpf have all failed in less than 10k miles since the 2023 repair and refuses to cover it under the 10yr/150k mile warranty extension for the turbo.

Torque Converter- The torque converter on my 2019 Nissan Titan -4X failed at approximately 68,000. Symptoms began as cold-start shudder lasting several minutes, progressing to pronounced shudder under light throttle acceleration between 25–50 MPH, erratic shifting at the 3-4 and 4-5 gear transitions, and TCC (torque converter clutch) slip. These symptoms created unpredictable drivetrain behavior at highway speeds, presenting a safety risk to myself and other drivers. The problem was diagnosed and confirmed by an independent service center using live PCM data. TCC slip readings of -27/748 RPM were recorded during a test drive, matching the failure criteria specified in Nissan Technical Service Bulletin NTB22-099A, which Nissan issued to address this exact torque converter defect in this model. The repair — torque converter remove and replace transmission using OE parts — is currently underway. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. This is a very serious safety concern when pulling out vehicle stalls and can cause serious damage and injuries and or death to myself and others
