The contact stated that the failure had been recurring, and the vehicle was taken to a local dealer several years ago however, no failure was found. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 06V459000 (Electrical System); however, the vehicle was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

Earlier this year my 2018 Nissan Titan experienced catastrophic engine failure at only 56,376 miles. I then learned it was due to a manufacturing defect that is very common on 2017-2019 Nissan Titans and other Nissan models with the same engine. This issue is well known to Nissan as evidenced by Nissan Service Bulletin NTB19-057 which was first issued in July 2019. Most failures have occurred when the vehicles are so new that the manufacturer’s warranty provides engine replacement. Mine, unfortunately, occurred three months after the powertrain warranty expired. I filed a complaint with Nissan Consumer Affairs and Nissan took no responsibility and provided no financial assistance. I was forced to pay for engine replacement at a cost of $8,755.03. The website [XXX] has numerous forums relating to this issue with the main thread having 3000+ posts from owners who have experienced catastrophic engine failure. As these vehicles all have expiring powertrain warranties, Nissan is leaving owners like me to pay extremely high repair bills due to this known factory defect. As premature catastrophic engine failure is an obvious safety issue, Nissan should have the responsibility to issue a recall and repair these vehicles. While driving my 2016 Nissan Titan XD Cummins (86,000 miles) on the highway, the engine started making a loud clacking noise, followed by a loud breaking or displacement sound. The check engine light did not come on, and the truck did not go into limp mode. Possible issues might be crankshaft or bearing failure, piston or connecting rod damage, or a valve train problem. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. There were no prior warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms before this failure. The problem has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer or service center.

So back in October 2023 ,I noticed a lot of things go wrong at once lime the radiator had to be replaced because it was leaking everywhere. The steering went bad and started leaking. The rear main seal started leaking. The clock spring went bad. there isntons of water always in the passenger floorboard and passenger door. The fuel gauge is all over the place and never reads right. The oil pressure gauge always has been on high. The engine light, air bag light slip light, and abs light have always been on. The right rear window stopped going up and the controls on the drivers door sometimes work and sometimes don't. The Manuel shifter has never worked and I cannot put the transmission in 2,3, or 4th gear from a stand still. Always been weird knocking sound in the suspension

I was going down the interstate at 70 mph pulling a 6' x 10' enclosed utility trailer with furniture, when my oil pressure started to fluctuate and motor started to knock. Before I was able to stop, the motor quit and I lost all power. When I towed it to the dealer, they found crank damage and lots of bearing material along with other metal in the oil pan. The estimate to repair was almost $31,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that the vehicle was idling rough while being started. While driving at 5 MPH, the vehicle shut off unintendedly. The vehicle failed to restart. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness and engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The manufacturer offered to assist with the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

While towing a 30 foot 5th Wheel trailer up a steep grade on [XXX] in Washington state, the truck's engine abruptly slowed, and subsequent dashboard warning lights appeared. We were forced in to attempting a change of lanes to reach the shoulder. This was extremely difficult and traumatic, due to the steep road grade, abrupt slowing of our vehicle, fast moving upcoming traffic and the number of semi-trucks traveling in the right lanes. Because the speed limit in this area is 70 mph, most vehicles traveling at 80+ mph. But at the time when the truck started to fail, we were traveling at approximately 62 mph. This was an obvious and dangerous hazard to not only myself, but my family and other vehicles in the immediate area of traffic. Without warning or prior indication, our vehicle abruptly slowed down, which caused a great deal of vehicles following ours to quickly change lanes in order to avoid a collision with not only our vehicle/trailer, but other vehicles traveling and maneuvering around ours and other traffic. Once we were able to turn around and "limp" home(which in itself was extremely risky). I brought the truck for diagnostic testing at Advantage Nissan or Bremerton, WA. Upon testing, the fault was shown as an EGR coolant or coolant reservoir fault(s). In researching, it is obvious this is a known historical Safety issue or problem with Nissan's 2016-2019 Cummins 5.0 diesel engine equipped vehicles. The alternator wiring harness per recall bulletin NTB19-053 has has failed multiple times impacting starting and leaving driver stranded, shuttering while being driven, locking mechanism and other electrical components working intermittingly. Vehicle was purchased used from a dealership with 17,000 miles and shortly afterwards 1st episode of not starting occurred but then worked for about 8 months, assumed it was bad gas. In 2019 Nissan advised they inspected the harness but never informed about inspection nor recall. Over the past few years the problem one come and go and once twice I replaced the battery. Took the vehicle in to Nissan May of 2024 and they advised an alternator was needed but they did not have the part and could not get the part in a reasonable time frame. I offered to accept and aftermarket part and they did not agree to do so. A local repair center provided aftermarket part with 2 year warrant and also discovered the harness recall and advised this appeared to be the problem and would cost an addition $700 to replace. I returned to Nissan regarding this findings and was told all they had to was inspect it and they did so. Nissan Compliance was contacted and after their review they refused to pay for harness removal, even after getting photos showing issues with the alternator harness. Once, the new alternator was installed the same problems returned as originally diagnosed by Nissan i.e. a failing alternator (less that 12 volts). I am seeking to have the original campaign to replace the harness, as a visual inspection of wiring may not lead to observation and what they assume was safe may not in fact been safe at all. In addition the harness replacement, I am requesting a refund as related to the alternator as the one removed was fine and its the wiring harness failing that is creating the problem, based on the symptoms described in the bulletin and those documented by both repair shops. Lastly, it appears vehicle was a buy back Nissan.

Driving on the intersate with no warning lights engine began to run rough, pulled over and shut engine off. Trailered it to a local shop, they found lots of metal in the oil. I tried to start it to drive it on the trailer but the engine had sized due to catastrophic engine failure. It has 89900 miles.
