The contact test drove a 2026 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. The contact stated that while stopped, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond as expected. While releasing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle responded and moved. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22. The VIN was not available.

While driving my vehicle, the engine RPM suddenly revved very high, and the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. A warning messaged appeared stating "Transmission too hot stop safely." I was driving up a hill when this happened. I pulled over and turned the vehicle off for about two minutes. When I restarted the vehicle, the warning message disappeared even though the vehicle would not realistically have cooled down that quickly. The issue concerns me because it could create a dangerous situation in traffic if the vehicle loses power or hesitates to accelerate when pulling into traffic or climbing a hill. The problem has occurred without warning and does not leave and persistent warning lights afterwards. I am very scared to drive this car, especially when I have my child with me. If I need to move out of the way and someone is driving that is not paying attention, there will be an accident because of the hesitation and the non-movement when I accelerate. I am reporting this issue in case it is related to a defect with the transmission system in this vehicle.

I bought this car 6 months ago. I did not know it had a recall on the engine. The engine just died a week ago. I brought it to hyundai and the confirmed it was a recall and go ahold of corporate. Corporate is refusing to fix the recall because they said "I should have brought it in at the original recall in 2020." I did not own the car there and I was not aware of the recall at all. [XXX] is my husband he is the other owner of the car. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11724972March 17, 2026POWER TRAIN, UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
As of today, March 17, 2026 , my 2025 Hyundai Tucson keeps having safety issues. On March 8th , 11th, 14th and 25th the car once again shut down mid-drive. This issue occurred last month as well but dealership claims no DTCs were found. I am noticing that the forward collision warning comes on without any cars or objects in front periodically since the purchase of my car. The light will remain on for a few seconds and disappear. The automatic brake system seems to be causing issues as well which I believe causes the car to shut off completely mid-drive. Once the car shuts off the panel lights turn on to include the engine light, but then after a few seconds I able to change gears back to park in order to turn car back on and continue driving. This has happened now several times since last month. However, I have had issues with my brand new vehicle since I purchased it last year. My car remained in the dealership for 3 months last year due to an engine, ac and power train issues. Prior to the car shutting off, No actual warning lights illuminate other than the forward collision warning light and the notification of headlights are turned off even though it’s daylight and headlights do not need to be turned on . Periodically and intermittently an alert about consider taking a coffee break alert has also popped up in the past. It seems Hyundai has a severe issue with the FCA operating system and over 100 complaints have been made about this vehicle nationwide and no recalls have been issued. I am afraid for my life and the life of others on the road as this car should not be stopping and shutting off while driving for no apparent reason.

The contact's wife owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. During frequent oil checks, the oil on the dipstick was low soon after an oil change. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately 15 times for oil consumption issues. Several oil consumption tests were performed on the vehicle for every 1,000 miles driven; however, the results varied from normal to low oil consumption. The engine had been partially disassembled twice, and pictures were taken and sent to the manufacturer. The manufacturer approved a combustion chamber cleaning to be performed on the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The contact had spoken with the manufacturer several times and was provided a case number. The manufacturer ultimately denied the request for an engine replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 63,547.

ABOUT 18 MONTHS AGO, SOON AFTER AN OIL CHANGE AT THE DEALERSHIP, I CHECKED THE DIPSTICK. IT SHOWED LOW OIL AND I ADDED SOME. IT MADE ME THINK THAT THE DEALER HAD SHORTED THE OIL. NEXT OIL CHANGE, I HAD THEM SHOW ME THE OIL WAS FULL. IT SHOWED LOW FULL. I'VE BEEN CAREFULLY CHECKING THE OIL EVER SINCE AND HAVE CONTINUED ADDING OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. 8 OR SO MONTHS AGO, I HAD THE OIL AND FILTER CHANGED. I MENTIONED THE PROBLEM TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID HE WAS AWARE HYUNDAI'S LOSE OIL. SINCE THEN, I HAVE CONTINUED TO ADD A HALF QUART AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH. I PARK ON CONCRETE AND THERE IS NO SIGN OF LEAKING OIL. I STARTED RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE AND FIND IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH 2020 TUCSONS. I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH ENGINE DETERIORATION, SAFETY AND OIL LOSS.

I was parking my 2 month old car going only about 5 mph & had to press the brake all the way to the floor to stop. There were no warning lights. I had it towed to the dealership & the tow driver confirmed that there was a lot of play in the pedal. The dealership had it for almost a month & could not duplicate the issue or find the problem. I am afraid it will happen again. Hopefully, if so, it will be at a low speed again.

Component that is unsafe: Moonroof Glass Taking in for inspection tomorrow. Safety risk: While driving on highway, Glass Spontaneously Popped and fully shattered. Glass fell down onto myself and into the car as I was driving. This put my driving at risk. Major distraction as well as potentially being a harm to my physical self. Problem reproduced? I know that there are other reports on moonroof glass on a Hyundai Tucson cars that have been shattered with the same predisposing factors. Hyundai has also been reported to not take accountability claiming that foreign objects were the cause. No this vehicle has not been inspected, but I will be taking it in on Sunday. There were zero warnings before this.

After 3 months and 840 miles, my 2026 Hyundai Tucson wouldn't respond one morning. No power at all, including to unlock the car. Road side assistance struggled to jump out but finally the car started, but the cluster panel would not turn on. I had to drive to the dealership with no speedometer or other screen sensors, as well as a lack of blinker or lights. This is outrageous because I barely drive the car and it's brand new.

While driving on the freeway, my 2021 Hyundai Tucson SE (72,021 miles) suddenly and without warning lost power and entered limp mode. I was able to safely maneuver to the shoulder and exit the freeway. The check engine light came on and is currently flashing. I took the vehicle to AutoZone where code P1326 was retrieved. I then took it to Pep Boys for a full diagnostic where P1326 was the only code present. The Pep Boys report states the vehicle requires immediate attention. The vehicle remains in limp mode and the check engine light is flashing. The vehicle is not being driven as it cannot safely reach freeway speeds. I contacted Hyundai Customer Care and was assigned Case # XXX. I also contacted a Hyundai dealership who attempted to charge a $225 diagnostic fee despite P1326 being a known Hyundai defect covered under recall/service campaign. Wife was driving car and the steering locked up and she could not turn it for about 5 seconds. second issue was put it in reverse and it would not come out of reverse, she had to turn car off and on 3 times to get it to put it in park or drive. I ran this through my Claude AI and it says this is an ongoing problem with the Hyundai Tucson. Please make them fix this before selling anymore vehicles as both are major safety hazards.

While driving a flashing engine light came on in my 2019 Hyundai Tucson. This made the car slow down and have no power. I brought the car to the nearest mechanic, they told me it was the knock sensor and told me it was a recall for this car, I should bring it back to the dealership. I called the dealership and they had told me to bring the car in. They inspected the car on 8/30/24 at 44,990 miles and told me it was the knock sensor and replaced it. On 11/4/24 at 46,246 miles the car was brought back in for the same issue and the car was inspected again, it was the knock sensor. This time the software was replaced. On 1/29/25 at 48,042 while driving on a highway going 70 mph the flashing light comes on again, brought it back to the dealership and I was given a loaner. The reached out to me and told me it was the knock sensor. They had the car for about 5 days. On 2/14/25 at 48,248 again, driving on a highway the flashing engine light appears again. Called the dealership and brought in the car and again, the knock sensor. On 12/31/25 at 56,712, driving on the highway, the flashing light appears again...On 1/2/26 the car goes back to the dealership, they call me and said that it's the strangest thing, the serpentine belt is worn, and it was making a banging sound which was setting off the knock sensor. At this point they offered to put in a new serpentine belt. I refused because after 5 failed attempts, I decided to bring it to my mechanic (I had lost all confidence with Hyundai mechanics). He did replace it. At this point I sent a letter to Hyundai motors stating all the facts that have been happening and asked for a buyout. After their investigation they called me and said, because you brought it to your mechanic they couldn't help me, but, if it happens again, bring it back to Hyundai. On 2/2/26, 57,286, again. I called the dealership and brought it back. This time they said that they didn't have a loaner to give so I rented one, 4 days. This is 5 failed attempts

Bought new, less that 400 miles in November 2025. Within 2 weeks dash board went blank/black. I consider this a driving distraction especially at night when nothing shows, no speed no gauges. Blackout time varies each occasion. Sometimes after a few seconds all warning light come on and stay on until vehicle shut off . Sometimes a NO GIGNAL message. Contiued after service visit with update to vehicle at about 7300 miles in January 2026. Service department acted like they have never heard of this issue.

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while stopped, the vehicle hesitated to respond, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, it was shaking unexpectedly with a misfire coming from the engine, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel injector had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact later stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the cylinders had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.

The touchscreen is not reposnive to touch except in one tiny corner. We’re reported this at thw Hyundai dealership at least three times over the years- they said “they can’t see a problem”, which is odd because the screen literally does not respond to touch. When it’s hot, even with the AC on full blast, sometimes we will be driving and the touchscreen starts making beeps and starts going into the settings menu all on its own without being touched, and starts randomly changing settings. Or, we will connect a phone with google maps, and the screen will randomly change to something else or a different view. This is a dangerous distraction, and Hyundai has refused to acknowledge this problem. The screen is unusable, we are forced to use our phones to use navigation directions just to be safe in our own car. This has been an issue starting in 2023 and to this day has been persistent. We have done both hard and soft resets to ni avail. We have also reported, on going to the dealership, that the screen says to update- they have never provided any update or instructions on how to update, even though every time we go to the hyundai maintenance we are there for at least two hours or more.

The transmission began slipping and hesitating within days of purchase. The vehicle intermittently fails to accelerate when pressing the gas pedal, especially when pulling into traffic or crossing intersections. This creates a serious safety risk because the vehicle does not respond when needed, leaving me exposed to oncoming traffic. The issue is intermittent and does not always trigger warning lamps or fault codes. The problem has been reproduced multiple times by me while driving under normal conditions. The selling dealer performed only a brief test drive and stated they could not duplicate the issue, but the hesitation and failure‑to‑accelerate continue to occur. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by Hyundai, but the symptoms match known issues with the 2016 Tucson’s dual‑clutch transmission and TCM logic. There were no warning lights prior to the failure, and the symptoms first appeared within the first week of ownership. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
