My car has been burning through about 2 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. Hyundai will NOT replace the engine. If this continues My engine could malfunction while driving. This is a serious safety concern and there's plenty of information on it. They refuse to recall it.

"On [XXX], my 2016 Hyundai Tucson (VIN [XXX] ) experienced severe engine power loss and mechanical noise under load while driving uphill, creating a dangerous safety situation. This occurred 2 days after a dealer visit (February 19, 2026) where an open KSDS Service Campaign (TSB HCE22-14-E600-TL, Issue 10D021) — directly related to engine monitoring — was left incomplete. The dealer subsequently denied an engine evaluation citing mileage over 150,000, despite the open campaign having no mileage restriction and despite a prior verbal commitment to cover repairs. Multiple follow-up attempts by phone, email, and WhatsApp have been ignored." INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Bought the 2022 Hyundai Tucson. It was driving perfect no issues then I hit 52,000 miles and the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle started sputtering and idling hard like it wasn’t getting fuel when the gas was pressed. I was on the interstate and the vehicle wouldn’t go over 35mph. Now the check engine light illuminates off and on when it feels like it.

I purchased the car about 30 days ago. in that short time on two occasions, with absolutely NO REASON the 'Forward Safety Warning System' engaged and applied the brakes so severely that on both occasions i narrowly missed being rear-ended. Fortunately, all vehicle occupants had their seat belts on, otherwise we would have been thrown around the car. In the first occasion my husband was driving about 50 mph and BAM WHAM! Totally out of the blue the car throws itself into a complete stop for NO REASON...he was NOT close to any car. The second time happened today. i was in traffic going about 15 MPH and BAM WHAM! the car SLAMMED on the brakes and everything in our car went flying around the cabin and the car behind me had to evade from hitting me. I am afraid to drive this car under this situation. i saw i can turn off the braking system - but it only works for each ride and will come back every time i start the car. This is VERY VERY dangerous and is an accident waiting to happen. i wish i could give the car back.

- #11722794March 8, 2026SERVICE BRAKES
Since taking possession of the vehicle, I have experienced two incidents involving the automatic emergency braking system activating unexpectedly, despite no obstacle or hazard being present. During one of these incidents, the vehicle braked abruptly and forcefully enough to cause an injury to my wrist. On March 7, 2026, I brought the vehicle to the dealership for inspection, where it was confirmed that there is an issue with the front right camera, which appears to be affecting the forward collision and automatic braking system. In addition, the vehicle required premature brake pad replacement due to persistent squeaking. Experiencing brake component issues on a brand-new vehicle raises further concerns about the integrity and reliability of the braking system. Brakes are a critical safety component, and premature wear or abnormal behavior so early in the vehicle’s life undermines confidence in the system designed to protect drivers and surrounding traffic. There were no warning lamps, messages or symptoms prior to the failure. The first instance occurred within 30-days of taking possession of the vehicle. The second two months later.

While driving on the interstate at highway speed, my 2017 Hyundai Tucson lost power without any warning lights or prior symptoms. The vehicle experienced an immediate loss of propulsion while I was traveling in traffic, creating a dangerous situation because surrounding vehicles were also moving at highway speed & I had to quicky maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder with no power. The vehicle had approximately 73,861 miles at the time of the failure. After the incident, the vehicle was taken to a Hyundai dealership and diagnosed with a burned exhaust valve requiring replacement of the cylinder head & valve. The estimated cost of repair provided by the dealership was approximately 7550. The vehicle had no prior warning lights or symptoms before the sudden loss of power. A sudden engine failure resulting in loss of propulsion at highway speed presents a serious safety risk to both the driver and surrounding traffic. This was an extremely dangerous failure.

The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, there was water overflowing from the front passenger's side floormat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the water entry point could not be determined. Additionally, the contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where a brake sensor was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where another brake sensor was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the wiring harness had sustained water damage and corrosion due to a clogged sunroof drain. The dealer determined that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact stated that the repair should be covered by the manufacturer because the failure was a factory defect. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

This vehicle has a considerate amount of oil dilution problems. I have had this vehicle taken in for service several times due to gasoline mixed into the engine oil. Again on March 6 2026 for the 4th time now the vehicle has a check engine light extreme hesitation with an almost stopping jerking motion due to dilution problems. Multiple dealerships claim there is nothing wrong with the car.. there is a distinct gasoline smell in the engine oil. The vehicle at times is almost unsafe to drive due to the hesitation and halting it does on its own. Every time a dealership is contacted my problem is dismissed. There is a burning smell due to the oil gas dilution issue. The car reaches higher temperatures than it should. And now the Hyundai dealership is making me wait almost a month again to have the problem looked at again which then puts me as the driver in an unsafe situation to drive a vehicle with such hesitation and fire risk. If they dismiss this oil and gas mix again and do not repair the car it could seize my engine or maybe possibly even cause fire damage.

- #11722363March 5, 2026SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Driving to work, going into a turn with no obstructions my car frequently alerts to a "collision warning" that is not there. Additionally, I have been driving on the highway, with no obstructions in front of me and my car emergency brake despite an emergency not being present. In both instances, it is extremely distracting and induces anxiety as I am alerted of a threat that is not there. Further at highway speeds (65-70 mph) on the highway, and braking despite having no emergency nearly caused an accident. I was able to push further down on the gas to force the car to keep going to not stop on the highway. The collision warning has been an issue since purchase of the car in June 2024, the emergency brake occurred in February 2026.

I was driving inside a parking garage, making a right hand turn at a very slow speed (5 mph?), when my Hyundai Tucson Hybrid slammed on the breaks while in a right hand turn. There was a wall directly in front of me, perpendicular to the direction I was heading before I started to make my right hand turn. The wall was at least 15ft away. I was never at risk of hitting the wall. The breaks were applied after I was into the right hand turn. Most unusual, as I had the FCA (Forward Collision Avoidance) system turned OFF and I confirmed this by observing the symbol on my dashboard that indicated the FCA was off as soon as the breaks were applied. I don't understand how the car applied emergency braking going forward when the FCA was off.

I am submitting this complaint regarding Hyundai Safety Recall #290 (NHTSA Recall No. 25V893) as it applies to my vehicle, VIN [XXX] . I received the official recall notice by mail on February 13, 2026. The recall identifies a defect involving the tow hitch wiring harness control module, which may allow water intrusion. According to the recall documentation, this defect can cause inoperative stop lamps and, in rare cases, an electrical short that could result in overheating or a vehicle fire. Since receiving the notice, I have contacted Hyundai Motor America corporate customer care three separate times seeking escalation and guidance on how to safely address this recall. During each call, Hyundai stated that no repair solution, parts availability, or timeline exists for remedying the defect. Despite the recall involving a documented fire risk and potential brake/stop lamp failure, Hyundai representatives advised me that I could continue driving the vehicle while waiting indefinitely for a remedy. No interim safety measures, inspections, alternative repairs, or mitigation steps were offered. I am concerned that Hyundai is failing to properly execute a federally mandated safety recall and is placing consumers in the position of operating vehicles with known, unresolved safety defects. Being advised to continue driving under these circumstances creates a risk to vehicle occupants and to other motorists. I am requesting that NHTSA review Hyundai’s handling of Recall #290, specifically regarding recall remedy delays, lack of escalation, and failure to mitigate an acknowledged safety risk, and take any enforcement or compliance action deemed appropriate. My specific Tucson is equipped with 1.6L Turbo and a 7 speed Dual-Clutch Transmission. I see there are recalls for the 2016 models equipped with the same transmissions, so I'm concerned as to why there hasn't been a recall for the newer models. My transmission was replaced by Hyundai when the car only had approximately 15,000 miles (give or take) and now at 73,000 miles, I'm experiencing the same issue again! The delayed engagement when accelerating from a stop has been stressful, to say the least. I hope this can be taken more seriously and investigated further. Just take a Tucson, like my version, through a Starbucks drive-through and you'll understand just how awful the shudder is. It gets so bad, I worry that the vehicle will shut off.

The heads up display and dashboard display go black while driving. Sometimes it flickers on and off repeatedly which is very distracting while driving. When it is off, I cannot see speed, fuel, etc. A recall was issued for this problem, however my vehicle VIN was not included in the recall, meaning the dealer will not address it. Additionally because it happens randomly it is impossible for the dealership to recreate it with the small amount of time they can allot to driving it try to recreate the issue. Because the dealership has not been able to reproduce the issue, it continues.

I was driving on a clear day with no traffic in front of me, going approximately 35 miles an hour. My car abruptly took over the braking and suddenly stopped the car in the middle of the road. The cars coming from behind me had to swerve into the other lane to avoid a collision. It was terrifying. I contacted the dealer was told they had never heard of this happening and I probably had something stuck to the front of the camera. I said it wasn't the case and they said it was just an isolated incident and explained how I could disable the system each time I drive the Tucson if it made me feel better. There were no warning lights or other symptoms prior to this episode. They said I could bring it in and they could take it apart to look at it, but I would have to leave it for about 3 days, however they didn't think anything was wrong with it. Since they said they couldn't fix it, I didn't take it in and just disable it each time I get into the car.

The HUD and dashboard on 2025 Hyundai tucson hybrid restart intermittently during driving, often during temperature change (e.g. from an indoor parking lot to outside) or on bumpy roads. Sometimes the HUD and the dashboard black out for a while during driving, making it impossible to determine the speed and vehicle conditions. This is threatening to safety on highways. This first happened on my new vehicle at about 5000 miles and was confirmed by a dealer. The dealer replace the main wire harness and the problem went away for a while. Now it comes back at about 8000 miles.

My car had a KSDS knock sensor detection system campaign 966 installed in 2022 specifically to active if having rod bearing wear. Towed my car to Hyundai under the TXXM warranty and they said my bearing clearance was ok and i need new lifters and timing chain cost for repair $2900. I have asked for the full rod bearing wear test report and they will not provide it. They have had my vehicle for 20 days now and I am out of work on disability. Hyundai service center is generally expected to provide you with a report following a rod bearing wear test (often referred to as a Bearing Clearance Test or by a related service campaign, such as T6G or TSB 21-EM-004H). Here is what you can expect regarding reports and documentation: Documentation of Results: The dealership should provide a copy of the results, specifically noting if the bearing clearance passes or fails. Proof of Inspection: If the test is performed under a recall or Service Campaign (e.g., Campaign 966, 982, or T6G), they are required to document the inspection, which you can request for your records. Evidence of Damage: If the test results in a failed diagnosis, technicians often take photos of the engine internals, such as metal flakes in the oil pan or excessive wear, which are used to support the warranty claim. If the Test Passes: If your vehicle passes, ask the technician to print a copy of the results. If the Test Fails: A formal diagnosis of rod bearing failure, confirmed by this test, is required for engine replacement under the extended 15-year/150,000-mile warranty. Hyundai - Recalls +3 This is a safety issue without the full rod bearing report to consumer. On Wednesday February 4, 2026 my car began to shake and shudder and almost stall out and the check engine light came on again. I had just gotten my car back from Burlington Hyundai the day before for the same problem. I drove it straight to the dealership for service. This time, they said it was a problem with the EGR system. They replaced some things and I got my car back on Friday February 13, 2026.

On Saturday January 31, 2026, I was driving and the tachometer started to go low like the car was going to stall out and the car began to shake. Then the check engine light came on. I was afraid to drive it, so I parked it in a church parking lot and had it towed to Burlington Hyundai on Sunday February 1, 2026. On Monday February 2, 2026 Burlington Hyundai said there was a problem with the spark plugs and that was why the check engine light came on. They replaced the spark plugs and it was covered under warranty. I got my car back on Tuesday February 3, 2026.
