- #11757147August 15, 2026TIRES
Two tires failed dramatically, (on two separate days, but separated by only 121 miles of driving), causing extensive damage the first time and causing a total loss the second time. The first tire has been disposed of, but the second is available still. Each was on the highway and luckily there was not much traffic so I was able to pull safely onto the shoulder each time. However, if I had not been able to get over, our safety and that of others was at risk if we had been involved in a collision. My safety and my that of my elderly, handicapped brother was at risk the first time especially, because this is an EV and at one point on July 4, 100 degree temperatures in the early afternoon in South Carolina, the electrical system had been damaged and we could not, for a few minutes, get doors or windows open. The components (tires) have only been inspected by repair shops. There was no warning either time. The tires are 235/55 R 19.

I started the car and got the warning "check electric vehicle system." The car then lost power. It would only go 27mph with the accelerator pedal pushed all the way to the floor. My safety was at risk because my car was not responding appropriately to driver input. The car is at the dealership as it is undriveable in this condition. This is the second incident with this vehicle within 6 months.

- #11756527August 12, 2026LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
When I use the adaptive cruise control and use the lane keeping assistance the system keeps giving me an error message that I'm not looking at the road. I believe this is a known problem and Hyundai pushed an software fix TSB 25-G1-16H in November 2025. My car appears to have the update but still repeatedly gives me the same error message. It's very distracting and since the error message flashes on dash where you usually see the camera monitoring right side of car that feature is impaired. I have had at dealership twice and while the technician knows its an issue there's nothing they can do without Hyundai's decision to correctly fix with software update. I am over 6' tall and where glasses, two things I can't change.

Was driving to vegas, it was 103-107 degrees After fast DC charging drivetrain had issues that when pressing acceleration the car would have almost a loss in power that caused a stuttering movement. If forcefully driven, the error message drivetrain electrical system would pop up. Issue can be resolved but only after letting the car stay in park for 10-15 minutes after finished charging. Issue was repeatable but only if weather was hot enough. This shouldn't happen or at least warn the driver to not drive for a certain period instead of guessing the issue.

- #11756375August 11, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
My 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 experienced a complete and sudden loss of drive power at high speed, generating open fault code DTC P1A9096 (Internal ICCU Failure) [24V-204]. This failure completely matches the component and safety hazard profile under active Federal Safety Recalls 24V-204 and 24V-868 [24V-204].The vehicle was repaired at an authorized retail facility, Hyundai of El Cajon. The facility's un-finalized pre-invoice explicitly verified the ICCU failure code but deliberately omitted the federal safety recall context, routing the mechanical intervention under an internal manufacturer 'TSB 24-EV-004H' to hide the defect from consumer safety databases [24V-204].This represents a deceptive administrative effort to under-report active federal safety recall failures on newer model inventories across the E-GMP platform architecture [24V-204]. I am requesting a formal safety defect enforcement review into the manufacturer's regional reporting data.

- #11756364August 11, 2026STRUCTURE:BODY, STEERING, WHEELS
Going thru a parking lot to a drive thru at a fast food place, rounding a small curve at a very low speed then trying go to 1 st lane out of 2 lanes the car suddenly went out of control and accelerated to center pole. The pole was a barrier protecting the support pole for the canopy. The car front center hit the pole so hard that the front collapsed. The hood buckled in the center and the pole went half way to the windscreen. The air bags did not deploy. The driver got hit with steering or something in the chest and caused lot of pain for about 10 days. No internal injury was detected. The car was totalled. The car did not complain of any incident except the dash reported something binding when tried to back off from the pole. The car repair company declared it as write off including the auto insurance company. Police was called and they did not take any data no other investigation was done. We feel the car computer malfunctioned and caused the accident.

We are reporting a suspected thermal runaway incident involving our recently purchased used 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 and have significant concerns regarding the vehicle's safety. **Vehicle Information** * Purchased XXX, 36,662 miles * Clean inspection and no accidents per Carfax **Incident Timeline – XXX** Between 6:00 and 6:30 PM, while traveling northbound on [XXX] just past the [XXX] exit in [XXX], the vehicle struck a white piece of road debris that appeared flat, similar to Styrofoam (video available). There was no immediate loss of vehicle function. [XXX] The vehicle was then moved to the driveway for inspection after a low coolant warning appeared. Damage to the underside near the driver's side and observed blue coolant leaking from the area. The coolant reservoir under the hood was empty. Based on online guidance advising against driving a vehicle with a coolant leak, we decided to leave the vehicle parked in our garage overnight and arrange a flatbed tow to a Hyundai dealership the following day. The garage door was closed, and the vehicle was **not charging**. At approximately 8:10 PM, a burning smell was detected inside the home. Upon opening the door between the house and garage, smoke was observed. The family immediately evacuated, and XXX was called at 8:12 PM. The fire department arrived at approximately 8:18 PM and found the garage filled with smoke. At 8:30 PM, firefighters removed the vehicle from the garage. At 8:35 PM, flames were observed beneath the vehicle. Firefighters applied water directly to the fire until 11:00 PM, after which the vehicle was removed. [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] Manufacturer was contacted; denies any liability due to debris. However, we believe inadequate safety design contributed, including soft protection shield and poor location of coolant. The vehicle was released to me as repaired by an authorized Hyundai dealer earlier the same day. While driving home, the vehicle entered reduced-power/turtle mode and lost propulsion capability. This is the third failure of the electrical/propulsion system in under three months on a vehicle less than one year old, and it occurred within hours of a warranty repair.

- #11754557August 3, 2026ENGINE, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
The car engine shutdown mid drive. One minute before the complete stop, the car was stalling every 20 sec or so, then the acceleration stop responding to the drive pedal. The car was gliding to a stopping point. The "Engine " warning was on the display. Afterward, the car was towed to the Earnhardt Hyundai North Scottsdale, where the service center could not recreate the problem. They concluded that is a non issue since they did not observe the same issue during the test and diagnostic.

SAFETY DEFECT REPORT: 2025 HYUNDAI IONIQ 5 HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY FAILURE On Sunday, July 5, 2026, at approximately 24,000 miles, the vehicle suddenly displayed a critical dashboard safety alert notifying me of an electrical propulsion failure and explicitly instructing me not to drive the vehicle. The sudden failure entirely disabled the vehicle's driving power and compromised its operational safety. The vehicle was removed from my possession via a flatbed tow on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, and delivered to Southern States Hyundai. On July 11, 2026, the dealership service technicians diagnosed a total high-voltage traction battery pack failure. The dealer opened Repair Order 9651579, and Hyundai Corporate approved a full warranty replacement of the $28,000 battery system. The vehicle remained out of service due to this safety defect for 21 cumulative days until the component replacement was completed on July 29, 2026.

- #11752923July 26, 2026TIRES
I need to report a serious vehicle safety concern involving a catastrophic front-right tire failure at highway speed. I am requesting a Hyundai case number and preservation of all physical evidence. Please preserve the failed tire, detached tread assembly, bead remnants, wheel, TPMS components and all service records. These items constitute material evidence necessary to determine whether the initiating cause was underinflation, rapid pressure loss, mounting damage, belt separation, bead failure or a manufacturing defect. The vehicle had been returned after approximately one month at a repair facility. After the incident, the three remaining tires measured 41, 35 and 35 psi, while the vehicle placard specifies 38 psi. The pre-failure pressure of the destroyed tire is unknown.

On June 3, 2026, my 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE Dual Motor AWD (approximately 31,000 miles) experienced a sudden and severe high-voltage battery failure. Prior to complete failure, I noticed “Check Electrical” warning sign occurring simultaneously: a sudden and dramatic drop in driving range, dashboard warning lights illuminating, and the vehicle failing to charge properly at both home and public charging stations. The vehicle was still drivable at the time I brought it to an authorized Hyundai dealership, but displayed serious warnings indicating the HV battery system was critically compromised. Upon inspection, the dealership confirmed the main high-voltage battery had failed and required full replacement. The dealership has advised that the repair will take several months due to parts availability. This failure is not an isolated incident. Hyundai issued a recall covering 2022–2024 Ioniq 5 models for HV battery and charging system defects (including ICCU failure). My vehicle’s failure is consistent with this known defect pattern. Despite the vehicle being subject to this known systemic issue, Hyundai Motor America has declined to offer a goodwill buyback, and my case manager has stated the vehicle does not qualify for lemon law relief. The sudden loss of range and charging capability while the vehicle is in motion or in use presents a serious safety concern — particularly on highways where unexpected power loss could lead to accidents. I am currently without a vehicle for what Hyundai estimates to be several months. I am requesting NHTSA investigate this failure pattern in 2022–2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 vehicles and take appropriate action to protect consumers from this known defect.

- #11751523July 20, 2026AIR BAGS
There is a yellow air bag (SRS) safety restraint critical wire harness underneath the seats and it's loose and hanging down touching the floor with lots of slack, very easy for a water bottle or any object to roll under there and pull it loose, which would disable a critical passenger safety system. This issue is reported by many drivers including myself, photos attached are from multiple people's experiences with this issue.
