The ICCU on my Ioniq 5 failed about a year after getting the software update that supposedly addressed the issue. I am very concerned about the reliability of my car going forward as it doesn't appear Hyundai has addressed the issue and I have no reason to think the replacement ICCU component won't fail as well.

The ICCU failed. The car makes a loud pop sound and then the dashboard lights up. You are stranded wherever it fails because the car isn’t drivable after it happens. The car was inspected by the dealership. There were no warnings before it happened.

The ICCU has failed for the 2nd time in a year requiring lengthy repairs. The car cannot be driven with a faulty ICCU. The ICCU is responsible for converting AC power to DC for and stepping it up to 800 volts to charge the primary battery. It is also responsible for keeping the secondary 12 volt battery charged.

The ICCU electrical system failed for the 2 nd time owning the car. Resulting in another 2 month wait to get it repaired. The dealer says they put the same part in, that may fail again.

Every 7 minutes of driving electrical failure , happens, which results in Check driver assistance system warning. Once vehicle is turned off, driving 7 minutes error pops again. Due to this all systems : Adaptive Cruise Control , Automatic Emergency Braking , Blind Spot Warning , Forward Collision Warning , Lane Departure Warning , Lane Keeping Assistance , Parking Collision Warning , Rear Cross Traffic Warning gets disabled. This creates a huge risk driving.

The vehicle is a Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric vehicle. There have been known issues with the integrated charging control unit (ICCU) failing suddenly rendering the car inoperative; I just took it to the dealer and they confirmed a fault with the ICCU. I am up to date with multiple prior ICCU recalls and updates. Leading up to this, a few months ago my 12V battery died unexpectedly at ~22000 miles and I had it replaced. The ICCU charges the 12v battery so I wondered if there was an ICCU issue but the car otherwise was operating fine. Overnight while charging with a level 1 charger at home recently, the car stopped charging overnight unexpectedly. A couple days later I plugged in to charge at home again and got a message "charging unsuccessful", and on the dash I received a message that said "check electrical vehicle system" which went away when I unplugged the car. I tried a different level 1 charger from my wife's car and received the same "charging unsuccessful" message. Interestingly that charger no longer seems to work on her car, so it's possible that my car damaged the charging unit. I then went to try a level 2 charger maintained by the city of Seattle which was operative and had power when I plugged in. On plugging in, I received the same "charging unsuccessful" message and then the light on the level 2 charger went off and the level 2 charing unit lost power. Again, it appears that the fault on my car may have damaged an external charging unit. Thankfully I was still able to drive the car to the dealer where the ICCU failure was confirmed and am in the process of replacing it (they don't have the parts in house and told me the current wait is less than a week though previously had been sometimes months). A service rep told me many customers had the failure happen suddenly with a loud "pop" while the car was in motion causing them to limp to the side of the road or leaving them stranded.

While driving I received the infamous "Stop vehicle and check power supply" warning, and it was then inoperable, needed a tow to the dealer for ICCU replacement. I can't believe you terminated your initial investigation into this in 2023 because they did a recall (which my car received). That recall did not fix the issue. It is March 2026 and Ioniq 5 and other models with the same electric system are dying on the road at the same rate as before. There is a large percentage of failed cars, and every failure is dangerous. This is a huge safety issue, and is not receiving adequate oversight by the NHTSA.

While charging the vehicle, we heard a loud pop. After starting the vehicle there was a warning to check the electric vehicle system. The car max speed was limited to about 20mph while driving home (it was night and the dealership was closed). The following morning while driving the car to the dealership, a new warning came on to stop the vehicle. A few minutes later, a new light came on showing a turtle icon and the car would only go about 3-4 mph. I barely made it through the busy intersection and was able to pull over before the car completely died. At that point, nothing worked: no electronic locks, no hazard lights, or other safety measures. The car was towed to the dealership (1/2 mile away) where it was diagnosed with an ICCU and fuse failure. Due to a part being backordered, the car sat at the dealership for 86 days before being fixed and returned.

I started driving and pulled out of a parking lot onto a busy road. The ICCU had failed unknownst to me and as I was underway the car started losing power and the dashboard lit up with warnings about the electrical system. I was limited to 25 MPH for a brief time and struggled to turn off into a parking lot amongst much faster traffic. While doing this the car slowed further to 10 MPH. I limped at this speed into the parking lot at which point it turned off and lot all power. This happened over the course of about 30 seconds. If it had happened on a busier road I would have been in trouble. On the highway and it would have been extremely dangerous. It was dangerous enough as is with cars passing me 20+ MPH faster than my car could go. This all occurred with no warning, and is due to an issue with the ICCU in the car that Hyundai has known about for years and has refused to address or fix.

Car suddenly went into limp mode while driving and completely vehicle shutdown soon after. It has been diagnosed at dealership that it is ICCU issue. It would be very dangerous if this happens on highway.

My ICCU failed and left my family and I stranded. I understand that this is happening on many Ioniq 5s and that Hyundai has not come up with a reliable solution for this problem.

I was merging onto the highway. I got a warning that I needed to check my electrical system. I was able to back down the highway ramp and park on a side street. Within 20 minutes the car was fully dead and AAA needed to tow it to the dealer. The dealer confirmed that the ICCU needs a replacement. My family is lucky this happened in a place we could safely get to a side street. Had it happened 5 minutes later we would have been stranded on the highway with 2 small children.

The Integrating Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failed while attempting to accelerate onto an Interstate Highway. The car then went into 'Limp' mode which only allowed a sped of 20 mph. Luckily I was able to get to the next exit without getting hit by car already on the highway going ~60-70 mph. The car showed both a 'battery warning' and a 'car over heating' symbol (the car has no engine, so assume it was the battery that over heated). The ICCU was recalled by Hyundai in the 2022-2024 Ioniq5 models, but was not recalled in the 2025 model (which I own). My suggestion is that the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq5 should be added to the the same recall as the 2022-2024 models since it is exhibiting the same problem.

The ICCU (and the associated fuse blew) while I was driving and it caused the car to be slowed immediately to approximately 20 MPH. This apparently is a huge issue with this vehicle.
