FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The Automatic Emergency Braking system has gone off multiple times on my 2019 Honda Passport since purchasing it in February 2021. Only a few of those times was necessary, the rest have either been an annoyance or have created more of a hazard when driving. This was especially true when the braking system dramatically reduced the speed of the Honda passport while traveling on an interstate highway, passing a truck while additional vehicles were traveling at the same speed behind me. I lost full control of the car for a minute and which only exacerbated the situation. I’m very fortunate a crash did not occur in that moment. I have never had this component looked at, but have only had the car serviced at Honda dealerships and have had the camera re calibrated a few times now. There were no warning signs, a giant “BRAKES” flashes on the dash once the system has been triggered into action, but there’s no way I’m aware to stop it once it’s been triggered, there’s only the option to turn the entire system off ahead of it being triggered. This issue has been happening as long as I can remember, but is generally bad on high traffic multi lane roads and single lane roads where traffic is consistent from the other direction.

Under many normal driving conditions, the front collision brake system activates. This has almost caused a collision as it shakes the wheel and applies the brakes.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
When driving my vehicle the emergency braking system alerts and initiates the brakes at inappropriate time. While driving on a straight road with a curve ahead if there is a car coming the opposite direction around the curve the braking system will engage. I am not at the point to go into the curve yet so my steering wheel is still straight. If I have starting to turn it will not engage. This happens daily as it is a road I take to work. This has been happening since I purchased the vehicle in January 2023

Nothing has failed currently, more so the system overreacts to EVERYTHING. Trucks nearby, swerve. Guardrails, center lanes, etc. it’s insanely inconsistent and I’m not surprised it’s caused accidents, the ACC and brake assist need to be fixed on these cars

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I have had 4 instances of driving on the highway that my vehicle applied the brakes automatically. My safety was put at risk because in those instances I was driving at highway speeds and the brakes were applied on their own with no obstruction in front of me. Someone could have rear ended me. I am not able to reproduce the problem on command, but it has occurred multiple times. The car has not been inspected for this issue. The only warning I received was the alert that gets triggered when the brakes apply automatically. I do recall that in 3 of the 4 times the incident has occurred, my right turn signal was applied.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Our 2021 Honda passport EX-L sometimes hits the brakes on its own. It happens every now and then, like when I'm exiting a freeway, or sometimes even when going with the flow of traffic. I've seen this issue talked about in the [XXX] , but today I saw an official article citing NHTSA concerns, so I'm writing to say that I too have experienced this potential dangerous issue while on road. My vehicle randomly brake checks on its own when it falsely detects the situation in front of me, which could result in a rear end collision. I'd like to see this issue resolved, so please feel free to contact me if you need any more information. Even back in 2022, I was experiencing this issue. This has happened occasionally. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
While driving my brake warning light on the dash will come on for no reason, it will flash, beep and the car will slightly shake (similar to when the car leaves the lane without using your turn signal). This happens every time I drive. It’s not occasional. I have mentioned it to the dealer a couple of times during normal service but they say the sensor is fine. It obviously isn’t. I’m afraid it will lead to an unfortunate accident by not activating when there is a real danger of a crash. I can’t fill in every date below but the most current incident is noted below

*Left-Driver Side and Right-Passenger side under hood a loud clunk when backing out of driveway or parking space when turning the steering wheel to a very sharp turn. Yes, available for inspection. *It feels like something is coming loose when backing up and turning sharply. *Yes, the dealer heard the noise and replaced the Driver Side Axle. *No Inspection by other entities. *No warnings

I purchased my vehicle in August 2023 (used). Phone calls (both through using CarPlay and with the phone unplugged and with genuine cables) sound terrible on the part of the recipient. We replaced the FAKRA cables and harness late last year and just replaced the microphone (and I got charged a diagnosis fee). The issue is continuing. It's gotten so bad that I have to use my AirPods to make any calls for my recipient to hear anything I'm saying (which is illegal in my state and should not be a requirement in a car that is less than 3 years old). I've dug in to forums and this is a common issue for the EX-L trim level in the 2021 model. Additionally, this can impact the backup camera and other lane keeping assist issues. I have factory reset it multiple times and it's still having similar issues.

Well, driving the car south on [XXX] the electrically operated moonroof in the vehicle shattered and broke into pieces. The interior sliding blackout panel was closed and no glass entered the car, but the remaining glass spread out over the roof of the car and out onto the highway and back of the vehicle. STRUCTURE:BODY
The passenger rear door latch will it operate from the inside, thus making it a safety hazard in case of emergency. Inability to open the door from the inside will prevent passenger, often a child, from being able to safely exit a vehicle in an emergency. This is a known issue with Honda and needs to be recalled and repaired.

SERVICE BRAKES, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Shortly after our purchase we started having issues with the vehicle, the backup camera is not functioning, the backup sensors are not functioning, the collision mitigation is braking abruptly while we are driving even when there are no objects in the surrounding area nearly causing us two accidents, our dashboard display has no function and the display flashes off and on. My nephew suffers from epilepsy, and he is unable to commute in my vehicle because the flashing colorful display lights trigger epileptic episodes. My partner has driven the vehicle when the vehicle’s braking system is abruptly initiated, the first time his chest was slammed into the steering wheel of the vehicle and the second time his head was slammed into the sun visor. I have taken my vehicle in several times because the car breaks abruptly while driving. The last time I took it in I injured my left arm and shoulder when the vehicle abruptly stopped, and my partner was slammed into the steering wheel while driving to work on the freeway. We had another incident where my partner's head was slammed into the sun visor. When I took my vehicle in, I was told there was there were no error codes then shortly after I received a notification regarding a recall for the issue I was having. We completed the recall, and we are still having the same issue. Yesterday 02/08/24 when I was driving home from work my car abruptly stopped/braked in the rain with no cars in front or to the side of me and I banged my knee on the side of the center counsel. While driving the vehicle will either brake or stall and will not accelerate while driving regardless of whether we are on the street or the freeway. This issue has become dangerous, and I would like to resolve this as soon as possible to avoid further injury to my partner and myself. There have been multiple incidents since the purchase of our vehicle on 01/24/23, all service repair attempts have been completed through Norm Reeves Honda West Covina

On [XXX], I was traveling to Destin Florida, on [XXX], the interstate came to a complete stop. My 2020 Honda Passport shut down do to the engine idle stop being engaged. When traffic started to move the engine would not start. I sat in the fast lane of [XXX] for approximately two minutes before the vehicle would start. Multiple attempts were made to restart the vehicle. Finally it started. This is the second time this has occurred. Upon buying my Honda Passport 11/28/2023, I have been experiencing problems with the radio/electrical connections in my vehicle. There are times I have crackling noises in front speakers and a complete failure of sound altogether. Daily stop and start in the sound system with blank moments and complete sound loses.

STEERING
The vehicle pulls to the right and the steering is loose. The vehicle has only 20000 miles on it and this was not how it was originally delivered but developed over a short time. The dealer said they find nothing wrong but I know that is not a correct assesment but a method of the dealer not to either fix it or they do not have a method to correct this problem. There are many instances of this same problem on Honda vehicles with electric power steering on the internet sites. I simply want them to address a safety issue which appears to be fairly common.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
Twice I had all kinds of safety alerts were scrolling on May 2nd ans august 7th.. First it was a fluid leak and cable. Second there was a piece of metal in the brakes. ABS sensor full of grease. Now sometimes Brakes is flashing for no reason (like going uphill) and if I need to brake at a higher speed on the freeway, the brakes make a sound of pots and pans rattling. As I have no confidence in the brakes, I tried downshifting but the car speeds up. From time to time the car speeds up or slows down without any reason as I am not using cruise control. Forward collision warning does not work properly, in fact collision mitigation system is not fiable. I get a warning sign for the back seats when there is nobody and nothing on the seats. Everything is very irregular.

Transmission, radio, and automatic braking system. Transmission lags when going slow. From a stop on a hill, the car did not accelerate when the gas pedal was pushed, almost causing a crash as I merged into oncoming traffic. It felt like it did not go into gear properly or was not recognizing the gears. Dealership advised it was the design of the transmission and not something they can fix. Auto brake sensors pick up cars that are not there, braking while driving. Especially noticeable on windy roads, though it has started to happen at stop lights. Radio has static and flashes white when operating with Bluetooth connection (Android product). Dealership recognizes and was able to replicate the sluggish feeling at low speeds, attempted to fix stereo (didn't work), and did not replicate the slow accelerate from a hill, but stated that there are issues with the transmission design.

SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
This has happened 7 times since I have owned the car (purchased April 2023). On regular asphalt roads in clear daytime weather with no cars in front of me (and usually no cars behind), the emergency braking system goes nuts and slams on the brakes and the wheel starts shaking. The roads have never been wet, and there has never been debris or other objects around; I live in a semi-rural area with no curbs, guardrails or other close peripheral objects that could confuse the system. It's bad enough that the front rotors became warped and I had to replace them or deal with rumbling brakes. It also almost caused an accident the one time there WAS someone behind me, as they almost rear-ended my vehicle. Fortunately, that driver was paying attention. I would take the vehicle back if it didn't have 11k miles on it already. Having your vehicle suddenly stop completely out of your control on the highway is going to get someone killed. Hopefully not me!
