In November 2024, I purchased a 2021 Honda HR-V with approximately 65,881 miles from Carvana, which conducted an inspection and found no issues. However, just four months later, while driving on the highway, my vehicle suddenly went into neutral, and all warning lights came on. It was a terrifying experience, as I narrowly avoided a collision with a semi-truck before the car shut off entirely. I was lucky to make it to the side of the road safely. Upon having the car towed to my mechanic, it was discovered that the transmission sensor contained metal shards, indicating an internal transmission failure likely due to a factory defect. This was further confirmed by an authorized Honda dealer, who found that the CVT belt had disintegrated and that this was unrelated to wear and tear. Given the fact that my vehicle was less than four years old with 74,165 miles on it, this is a clear indication of a serious factory defect. Pulling out on a busy road making a left turn across traffic my hrv lost all ability to accelerate. I coast off the road put in park and turned off the ignition. I the restarted the vehicle and have not had the issue again, it's been a week. However I had this happen twice last year and took my vehicle back to jones honda to have them diagnose the issue. They can find no issue. When this happens I'm always making a left turn. No lights on the dashboard come on either.

POWER TRAIN
- The transmission had several problems that failed, leading to the car being unable to drive. The car starts, but does not drive in Drive or Reverse. The exact Honda vehicle codes affected are: P0171 and P0793. -My safety was put at risk because the car had previously stalled several times, leading to needing to pull over on the side of the road immediately, even on what is nearly a highway. -The exact problem was not confirmed by a dealer, but by an independent mechanic. Previous problems, such as the stalling, were confirmed by Caliber Collision in Cinnaminson, NJ. -The vehicle was last inspected by a mechanic in Massachusetts. -There were several of the dash cam lights and error sounds, off and on, since [XXX], upon an accident. The car was repaired after by said Caliber Collision in Cinnaminson, NJ, on more than one occasion between January 19th, 2025 and today, April 4th, 2025. Every honda I have had, civic, accord, Hrv, have had issues with the driver side sun visor. It will not stay up and it makes seeing out the windshield an issue. Also the rearview mirror developed black marks going across a big one portion of the bottom part of the mirror. Making it difficult to see everything.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
Vehicle has been brought to dealership multiple times due to messages coming up on dashboard stating road departure mitigation system problem. See your dealer and Collision mitigation breaking system problem. See your dealer. Each time the car has been taken in the dealership has stated that the problem cannot be duplicated or replicated and no error codes found. Vehicle is operating as manufactured. Detailed have been requested. On one occasion the dealership stated the vehicle would be needed for multiple days but tried to return it the next day. After calls were ignored for days for answer the vehicle was returned covered in ice and windshield wipers not in the proper position. There is believed to be minor damage in the drivers side wiper. After the message came up again the dealership has stated they have exhausted all attempts to diagnose issue and will no longer work on the vehicle. Multiple attempts been made to gain American Honda's participation but they have not proactively participated. The car has also attempted to leave the lane/road on to occasions. This seems connected to the Honda Sensing probe NHTSA has expanded to include 2020-2022 Honda CR-V and Accord. This message was received yesterday and today upon start up and putting the car into gear.

The contact initially called the dealer who informed her that they would be unable to service the vehicle due to the dealer closing at the time of the call. The contact then called an independent mechanic who went to the residence and jump-started the vehicle. The contact was instructed to take the vehicle to a dealer as soon as possible for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was taken to the dealer the next day and the fluids were topped off and the tires were rotated; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that a battery failure had occurred several times since the initial failure. The contact had to call for assistance several times to jumpstart the vehicle. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V744000 (Steering); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. I bought this car new in 2019. It was never in an accident. While driving normally, the car started throwing warnings saying the lane keep assist has a problem, the collision mitigatuon system hhas a peoblem, the auto high beams have a problem, the road departure system has a problem. I paid Honda in Surprise AZ $210 for a diagnosis and they told me that it needs a new U3000-49 Multipurpose camera unit will cost $1,730 to replace and install and possibky another $1,420 for a new SRS unit. The car was never in an accident, and both of these should not be breaking after just 5 years of ownership. Clearly the multipurpose camera unit and also likely the srs are defective and should be recalled.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the vehicle was experiencing the break-in period and that over time, the vehicle would achieve the stated MPG. The contact stated that other vehicle owners online were complaining about the same failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure.
