SummarySome 2012-2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a TCU may exhibit an inoperative remote start with a 'Vehicle Failed To Start' message when using MyFord Mobile/Ford Pass/Lincoln Way mobile applications. The cellular cloud systems will only allow two remote start requests from the MyFord Mobile/Ford Pass/Lincoln Way apps without a vehicle drive event occurring. If a third remote start request is received, a Vehicle Failed To Start message will be displayed quickly in the mobile app. Once the vehicle is driven, the remote start counter is reset and will allow remote start commands to be sent from the mobile app. If the remote start system is not functioning using the key fob, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 303-06 for further diagnosis.

SummarySome 2020 Escape vehicles built on or after 10-Jan-2020, equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with only diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P04DB in the powertrain control module (PCM). If this DTC is retrieved with other DTCs, diagnose those first. Engineering data has confirmed that DTC P04DB is typically a green engine and/or low mileage concern that will not repeat if a crankcase ventilation system concern is not present. Inspect the crankcase ventilation tube at the rear air intake system connection for a partial disconnect. If the crankcase ventilation tube is not disconnected and no concern is identified after performing Powertrain Control and Emission Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual pinpoint test HG, clear the DTC using the appropriate Ford scan tool and return the vehicle to the customer.

SummarySome 2020 Escape/Corsair vehicles may exhibit a lack of power steering assist with DTC U3000 in the PSCM. This DTC is set when a battery charger is installed on the vehicle and the ignition is cycled on. For vehicles that set this DTC due to the use of a battery charger, the DTC can be cleared and power steering assist restored without replacement of the PSCM. To clear this DTC using the FDRS scan tool, select and run the PSCM - Reset the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) application. Once cleared, cycle the ignition to reinitialize the module. It is not recommended that a battery charger is installed and running on the vehicle when the ignition is cycled on.

SummaryUpdated Technical Information for Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) reset after PCM reprogram. Unplugging the PSCM is no longer required as new FDRS service function is available. In some of the affected vehicles, the customer may experience limited powertrain acceleration and speed along with a âÂÂStop Safely Now message and a check engine light displayed in the instrument cluster. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P0340 and P1A0C may be present in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This is due to crankshaft and camshaft signal quality during start up, resulting in incorrect synchronization and the inability of the engine to produce the requested torque. SERVICE

SummarySome 2020 Escape/Aviator/Explorer Hybrid vehicles and 2020 Explorer/Aviator vehicles equipped with a 3.0L EcoBoost engine may exhibit slow fuel fill, premature shut off, and/or spit back during refueling. This may be due to the interface between the fuel nozzle and the fuel tank filler pipe. When refueling, advise customers to make sure to rotate the fuel nozzle 30 degrees in either direction, retract the fuel nozzle slightly within the capless filler inlet, and/or use a different refueling pump. Engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition, which is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2020. Monitor OASIS for additional information and schedule service appointments for customers once the repair becomes available.

SummarySome customers may experience a notification in the FordPass and/or LincolnWay apps that indicates their vehicle has entered "deep sleep mode". This mode is enabled due to the vehicle not being started for 14 consecutive days or battery voltage is at/or below 9.5 volts. Some 2020 models will also set a warning if the telematic control unit (TCU) has received an automatic over the air update. The purpose of deep sleep mode is to conserve battery voltage. When deep sleep mode is enabled, the TCU is powered down and all communication with the FordPass and/or LincolnWay apps are disabled. To wake the vehicle from deep sleep mode, manually start the vehicle. More deep sleep mode information can be found in the FordPass or LincolnWay apps under: More > Guides > click in search entry box > type "deep sleep" and click on "Ask".

Summary2016-2019 Escape vehicles equipped with the 1.6L EcoBoost or 1.5L EcoBoost engines may have missing or damaged dowel alignment pins between the engine and transaxle. When either a new long block or new short block is installed in the vehicle and the dowel pins were found missing or damaged upon disassembly of the original engine, the flexplate (6375) must be replaced. For engine overhauls or other engine related repairs where the engine and transaxle do not require separation, replacing the flexplate is not required. This direction also applies to existing service publication repairs where the engine and transaxle are separated as part of the repair procedure. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01.

SummarySSM 48619 - Various Vehicles - Perimeter Alarm Armed And Original Vehicle Keys Cannot Be Accessed to Enter Vehicle - CAN Protection Strategy Some 2013-2016 Model Year Vehicles may exhibit a concern in which the Perimeter Alarm is active and the original keys cannot be accessed to disable the perimeter alarm. This concern would most often occur when a customer loses keys and the dealership is attempting to program new keys to the vehicle. The Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-01A Perimeter Anti-Theft Alarm - System Operation and Component Description has been updated to inform of the Controller Area Network (CAN) Protection Strategy. Follow the procedure outlined to prevent replacement of the Body Control Module (BCM) on CAN Protection Strategy equipped vehicles when original keys are lost and perimeter alarm is active. Refer to the WSM for further detail on the CAN Protection Strategy. Lost keys and replacement of BCM for lost keys is non-warrantable.

SummarySome 2018-2020 vehicles equipped with the 8F24, 8F35, 8F40, or 8F57 transmissions may have a trace amount of transmission fluid in the main control electrical connector. This is due to the connector being submerged in transmission fluid during the main control manufacturing process. A trace amount should be considered normal and will not affect the function of the transmission. Do not attempt a repair for this condition. If more than a trace amount of fluid is found, follow normal diagnostics in the Workshop Manual(WSM), Section 307-01>Diagnosis and Testing>Leakage Inspection.

SummarySSM 48558 - 2017-2020 Various Vehicles Equipped With Telematics Control Unit (TCU) - Various FordPass/LincolnWay Mobile App Concerns Some 2017-2020 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a TCU may exhibit inoperative remote features via Ford Pass/Lincoln Way mobile app, incomplete user authorization and/or no modem electronic serial number (ESN) displayed. To correct this condition prior to programming, remove the TCU fuse for 5 minutes then reinstall. Delete all previous session files for the vehicle. Verify that the electronic serial number (ESN) is now displayed. Start a new IDS/FDRS session. Program the TCU to the latest IDS/FDRS version level. Make sure you are connected to the internet before retesting. If the concern is still present, follow normal diagnostics in Workshop Manual(WSM), Section 415-00. Refer to PTS OASIS home page for TCU version identification. For claiming, use causal part 14G229 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
