According to the dealership, the axle seal tore and leaked transmission fluid. No lights, warnings or messages ever appeared in the days leading up to or following the incident. I noticed a mechanical whining sound about 24hrs prior to the incident (what the dealership later explained was transmission pump) however my car still drove normally otherwise. On my way to work, in a busy intersection with a steep hill, I heard a loud mechanical grinding sound when I tried to accelerate. After which, my card jerked backward and started to drive in reverse instead of forward despite being in drive. I was able to break before hitting oncoming cars. Luckily no one was injured by my moving in the wrong direction or suddenly stopping in an intersection. I was scared to drive my car and took it to the dealership the following Monday. They diagnosed the torn axle seal several days later. I have approximately 13,000 miles on this vehicle and have meticulously maintained it at the dealership of purchase.

I bought my Ford Ecosport June 30th 2022 with 33k miles. On March 30th 2023 coolant leaked into the cylinder head resulting in a blown gasket. This was very unexpected as the car showed no signs of any issues at all up until the day of. I was driving the car to get an oil change and brakes checked. The car began to over heat and notify me that the engine was reducing power due to it's overheating. The car would not rise to 2 RPM and was extremely hard to make accelerate if I stopped at a redlight or stop sign. I just barely made it to the auto shop after breaking down in the middle of the busy road multiple times. I almost did not make it through a large intersection. The car has been inspected by the manufacturer and they have confirmed the issues. I am aware there was a recall where Ford identified a problem with a coolant pipe (referred to as the degas hose), on just under 45,000 Ford Focus 1.0-litre Ecoboost models sold in the UK between October 2011 and October 2013. My car has a 1L ecoboost engine with the exact same malfunction.

While driving home from work, the low engine oil pressure light came on. I immediately pulled over and checked the oil. There’s plenty. I continue to drive and start hearing a knocking sound. My check engine light is now illuminated as well as low engine oil light and the wrench and the display says SEE MANUAL. I parked. I’m being told my mechanic that the engine needs to be replaced. This happened at 67,000+ miles.

Engine had felt off for a couple days it as if it had bad gas or something. Since no warning lights were illuminated I was trying to keep a close eye on it. Then on my way home from work the oil pressure light came on. I pulled the vehicle over and got it towed to the dealership. Just paid $170 for diagnosis to be told the dealership quoted 7275.39 replace the engine among other parts(other things that could have messed up with the loss of oil pressure & labor before tax. I still owe approx. $6000 on the vehicle. the vehicle had approx. 69,000 miles but under 70,000. How is this a thing? How can a vehicle fail that fast without warning? I was luckier than some that I have seen with the same issue when reviewing what has happened. I think premature engine failure without warning is pretty dangerous It was very scary at 60mph with not shoulder to pull over with. How is this such a widespread problem with no recall? I reached out to Ford Customer Service to see if they would offer any assistance since it was so close to powertrain and was denied. Now I have a 2019 car with less than 70K miles that is costing me money that almost got me killed when it broke down with no Failed with no warning? So many stories similar to my owe when I read the complaints, every one as if it was coming from me! Ford has to be held accountable!!!!

I bought Certified preowned 2018 Ford Ecosport SE Turbo Have not had any problems until 3/28/2023 when i was on my way back from the cemetery and my low oil pressure message came on along with my oil light and engine I have it serviced every time it needs oil change, new tires, etc. I don’t drive it hard at all. It has 112 k plus miles on it so it is out of warranty and i sill owe on it.I have called Ford motor company to see if there has been any recalls but there has not. I did do some research on the problem and found that several Ford Ecosport owners have had the same problem and read that Ford does know about this problem. I can’t see why they can replace the motor which I found out that is what has happened to it from the certified mechanic that I took it to. Please help!!!

Car started making a loud knocking noise and the check engine light came on. We had it towed to a mechanic and was told the oil pump belt was bad and caused the engine to go bad. We had to pay for a new engine and new oil pump belt. We were told that if this would have went out when he was on the freeway the car would have just stopped.
