Last week, my 2018 Ford Ecosport had the engine pressure oil light come on as I was merging onto the highway. I stopped driving immediately and had it towed but it didn't matter, the engine is ruined. I looked it up when I got home and FORD knows about this! They could have easily issued a recall. Luckily I was able to leave the highway right away or god knows what would have happened. Heather: SSM 48093 - 2018-2019 EcoSport - 1.0L EcoBoost - 6F15 - Loss Of Engine Oil Pressure With Illuminated Engine Oil Warning Lamp - Built On Or Before 3-Apr-2019 Some 2018-2019 EcoSport vehicles equipped with a 1.0L EcoBoost engine and a 6F15 automatic transmission and built on or before 3-Apr-2019 may exhibit a loss ofengine oil pressure with an illuminated oil pressure warning lamp. This may be due to a broken/failed engine oil pump belt tensioner which leads to a loss of engine oil pressure. Due to the nature of this failure, an engine replacement maybe required. Engines built after 3-Apr-2019 should not be affected. All tensioners built with a manufacture date on or after 23-Jan-2019 are good to use.

My cars low engine oil light came on suddenly and then the engine started making noises. Full on oil and not leaking. Mechanic says it’s an internal issue and will be $5600 to repair. I already have an electrical issue with the A-pin that Ford said was $3000. It never got repaired because they never contacted me saying the part was in. The engine issue has a recall for the year make and model of my car but my car was built 7 days after the cut off. That date needs to be changed to include my car since it’s the same exact issue according to the mechanic.

My 16 year old daughter was driving the car on a busy road that is 55mph and the car oil and engine lights came on with no warning and the car started clunking and died. The car out of the blue had lost all oil pressure and the engine seized. She was lucky she was able to safely move over to the side of the road. The oil had been changed 90 days prior and there were no lights on the dash. The oil pump just failed as she was driving with no warning.

Car is incessantly jumping/jerking when switch gears. The symptom is so bad it is comparable to hitting a speed bump without slowing down. Sometimes it jumps forward and seems as though you can't stop it. It happens when backing out of the driveway, putting the car in drive from reverse, putting the car in drive from park, putting the car in reverse from park, accelerating after stopping at a stop sign or a light, and more. Dealership the vehicle was purchased from has tried to fix the problem approximately 5 times. Car was at the dealership from July '22 to October '22 and problem still was not fixed. Another Ford certified dealer tried to fix it with no success.

My 2019 Ford Ecosport started running rough around the middle of June 2023. I thought it was time for a tune up. The car didn’t display any warning lights on the dashboard. I kept driving it and made a appointment with Firestone for a tuneup and oil change because the oil change was coming due soon. Before I could go to that appointment my car’s engine started making more noise. I called a friend who is an A tech to look at my car. He said yes that this was a known problem with the Ford Ecosport 1.0 engine. The cooling line leaks antifreeze into the engine and causes the problem with the oil pump leading to no oil pressure. He said he could repair the car at 17 hours of labor plus parts if the issue has blown the engine, but until Ford fixes the design issue it will happen again. I have owned my car for a little over a year and the car does not have a warranty left on it. There are class action suits against Ford for this problem, and I am wondering why have they not recalled the vehicle when this is a known issue.

Unfortunately bought the car June 2022, heater core needed replaced suddenly October 2022. Thousands of $ spent. Next, the motor needed replaced May 2023, Approx miles 61,000. One month later, new motor already needs replaced at approx 62,000. First cause of motor failure was due to oil pump failure. Second cause still pending. Electrical system failure frequent as in radio not working. Auto-stop sometimes fails also saying "hill assist not available" while not on a hill at all.

Was driving on interstate when Low Oil Indicator came on and car wouldn't go above 20mph. Pulled or coasted off exit and car stopped in middle of exit ramp. Thankfully this was at 10:30 at night, if this was during the day it could have been life threatening! Had car towed to AAA shop and there was oil but appears the oil pump failed and now I need a new engine. Ford needs to recall! 68,400 miles and needs new engine unacceptable

According to 4 mechanics who said there has to be a recall because The system time chain in the engine has to be replaced but the vehicle has not even reached the mileage to require. They all suspect a recall. Ford dealership- said "they would not do an oil change because the engine could blow up on their guys" The car has been maintained more then regularly through Ford, and never once throughout the service was there any arising issues with the engine during their diagnostics done every 3 weeks.

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Ecosport. The contact stated that when the vehicle was shifted to drive or reverse, the vehicle started to jerk. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 - 55 MPH, the engine started to overheat with the "Low Engine Oil Pressure" message and the oil lamp warning light illuminated. The vehicle stalled and the contact coasted to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred 3 times on that day. The contact became aware of white smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle near the exhaust pipe which dissipated after the vehicle was shut off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact notified that vehicle had experienced engine failure; however, the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

Got in the car to leave work and after driving for 5 minutes the car stalled and showed the oil and check engine light. Took the car to the dealer and was told code P0012 and P0014 were present with metal contamination in oil. This car has been maintained well at the dealer every step of the way since we purchased it. Dealer claims the entire engine needs to be replaced due to a failed oil pump causing bearing failure. This is at 75,000 Miles. Fords standard warranty is 36,000 miles, now I guess we all know why. There is no solution to this other than to RECALL these engines and fix what Ford knew they weren't ready to produce by rushing to put these cars together with faulty products. Seems like they are building cars to last every couple of years, a similar issue happened with our 2017 Escape.
