The check engine light came on with (what Ford Service stated) and emissions error. Then three days later the check engine light came on along with the low oil pressure warning. The car was not accelerating and had stopped completely when driving on Saturday (the day the all the light come on). Did not drive the car until it my appointment with Ford Service on the following Weds. The service tech stated that the teeth if the oil pump were shredded and that I had metal shaving in the engine. The oil pressure was at 3PSI. That was only three days after the car was seen at the shop.

I came on the on ramp of the interstate, gained speed up to 65 and began passing a slower vehicle, with another vehicle behind me passing them also. Suddenly my speed slowed, my oil light illuminated and digitally said LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING. I barely made it into the breakdown lane as my vehicle lost all power and the steering wheel seemed to lose power steering also. I had no prior warning of this at all. My mechanic said the engine will have to be replaced due to a broken engine oil pump tensioner belt. There are bits of metal in the engine now so it is unusable. I cannot afford a new motor so the vehicle is sitting on my property currently, since I have 3 more years of payments to make. I have called Ford and was told my VIN number is not included in the current recalls for this issue, even though this is the exact same year and issue I have experienced. My 5 year warranty ended on July 30 2023, and this occurred on September 3 2023, 34 days out of warranty, with 57,365 miles on it. I did cite SSM48093 and SSM49726 which I read to Ford but they will do nothing to issue any sort of recall. I was stuck on the interstate for over 6 hours on a busy Labor Day weekend with the back end of my vehicle within a foot of the white line, every large vehicle coming by would shake the car. It was 94 degrees out, and the vehicle wouldn't run so there was no place to go to get out of the sun or get cooler, and no drink or food for that matter either. I'm so disappointed in Ford for not standing behind their product, now I have seen their are hundreds of people this has happened to also, without a recall.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle slowed down and lost motive power. While pulling over, the vehicle shutoff and failed to restart. The oil light illuminated, and the low oil pressure message was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the oil pump failed and caused engine failure. The mechanic replaced the oil pump. The mechanic completed a compression test, which indicated that the engine needed to be replaced. The mechanic informed the contact that the oil pump belt fractured, the timing chain fractured, the engine belt bent, and the head gasket was blown. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure was like NHTSA Action Number: PE23015 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

I am writing to report a serious safety issue related to an engine failure in my 2018 Ford EcoSport Titanium. The incident occurred on August 2nd, 2023, at approximately 8:17am. I bought the vehicle in July 2020 from a well-known Ford dealer in the area. I was about to go shopping that morning. I started the engine as usual, and I got the message on the dashboard that said "Low Engine Oil Pressure" with a little oil lamp on the up left front of the board. As soon as I saw it, I stopped the engine and called the dealership. I scheduled an appointment. The closest appointment was one week away. I did not drive the car that day till the day of the dealership's appointment. After diagnosis, the dealership told me that the engine died, and my warranty expired one month ago. (July 2023 or 60000 miles). My car was at the dealer for a routine service 3 months ago and there was not a problem. The car died without any prior sign of oil leakage or any other signs. I have read other people with the same small SUV that had the same problem. I think the NHTSA needs to investigate the engine failure of Ford EcoSport.

The 2019 Ford Eco Sport had the loss of oil pressure indicator light turn on all of a sudden. Took to a local mechanic and the oil pressure belt in the engine malfunctioned and is not lubricating the entire engine which could cause the car to freeze up instantly and unexpectantly. It was dangerous to me and others if the car just stopped driving all of a sudden. I stopped driving the car and had it towed to the dealership. The loss of oil pressure light turned on for the first time yesterday 9/26/23. Apparently, this is a common problem for the Eco Sport and the engine is on back order.

We were driving from an out of town trip and the warning "low engine oil pressure" came on dashboard, car lost power. My husband checked oil, was good. He turned car off and did not re-start. It was towed to nearest Ford dealer. We finally got a call on 9/25/23 that it will require a new engine! We have been researching and this issue has come up with this vehicle, even the Ford representative told me this has been an issue. It is covered under 3rd party warranty, we are waiting to get claim approved. Since this has been an issue, is there anything that can be done? I still owe vehicle and am concerned that I will continue to have issues after engine gets replaced. Thank you in advance for any help on this matter.

I drove 2 hours to see family. As I was leaving my oil pressure light came on, the first time ever. I pulled over and checked my oil and checked for leaks and everything was okay. I started driving it back and only got around the corner when my car stalled and the engine light, low oil pressure light, and battery light turned on. I had it towed to a dealership and the service mechanic says it needs a new engine. The car is 5 years old and only has 54,000 miles on it.

While driving in a construction zone on I-75, the low engine oil pressure warning light came on. Pulled off edge of i-75, checked oil level, OK. Oil and filter was changed 350 miles earlier the day before. 101,561 miles, 1.561 outside extended warranty. Still have 4 payments. Car has been at Ford dealer since August 21. Waiting for an assessment. There is a service bulletin from FORD that says engine must be replaced. I filed a claim XXXXXXXXXX at Ford Motor Company, but claim was denied. Still waiting on damage assessment from Fernilus Ford Dealer in Cheboygan Michigan. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On December 30, 2022 I was driving my EcoSport when the "low oil pressure" light first came on followed by the "check engine" light. I immediately pulled to the side of the road and called the dealership where my vehicle was just serviced for The Works the week before and spoke to the service advisor. I asked what the problem could be since it was just serviced and he said it sounds like the engine. I had to have my car towed (thank goodness for AAA) to the dealership. The warranty on the powertrain/engine was up at 60K miles and I was at 72,000. I paid out of pocket almost $6300 for the new engine. I have NEVER had to pay for any engine in all the years I have owned and driven any make/model of car. I am very disappointed with how FORD handled this problem.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ecosport. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 60-65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact's wife was able to pull to the side of the road. The check engine and the low oil pressure warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where an unknown sensor was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE23015 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to another dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

My vehicle is about three years old and with no prior warnings that something may be wrong, I received a “Low Engine Oil Pressure” warning while driving down the highway that caused me to pull the vehicle over. Acceleration was affected and the car was not operating properly and so I received a tow to a shop. The shop called to inform me that it is in need of a total engine repair and would cost me about $8500 for a used engine since Ford does not currently have any new ones available. I spoke with Ford customer service as well as my dealership who both informed there were no current options for financial assistance from Ford at this time. I am now left with a vehicle that requires more money in repairs than I have to pay it off. Ford is well aware of this issue and I know I am one of many Ford owners who are now left with this problem. This is not the first issue I have had with this vehicle. Approximately a year ago my computer system that handles my back up camera and hands free technology also stopped working and is in need of an APIM replacement which is about $4000. This is also an issue well known to Ford users and impacts the safety of the drivers. All in all to make necessary repairs would cost almost as much as the MSRP for the vehicle itself and I still have half of that to continue to pay on.

On July 27, 2023 as I was accelerating to enter a busy interstate, my vehicle warning light came on for low oil pressure and went into a limp mode only allowing the vehicle to drive 45MPH. There were no warnings other than this light and message appearing on dash as the vehicle lost power. The 18 wheeler approaching behind my vehicle was able to get in a different lane and not hit me and I pulled onto shoulder until I could exit. I had approximately 87,000 miles on the odometer. I contacted the local dealership to have the vehicle towed for an inspection. When the vehicle was brought in for inspection, the technician seemed to know the precise problem from just the description of events. After they inspected the car, they confirmed that the vehicle’s engine experienced an oil pump failure that would require a new engine. The vehicle has been at dealership since that day awaiting the back ordered engine to arrive so it can be installed. Today is September 25, 2023 and I still have not heard of an estimated date for the back ordered engine from Ford to arrive. The repair is estimated to be $8,300 since it was out of warranty. I have already given a $4,000 deposit to the service department so they could order the engine parts, although the engine isn’t even accessible. I have since rented a car totaling $1050 and just went and purchased a second vehicle so I wouldn’t have to waste more money renting a vehicle.
