The truck has shifting issues. It down shiftshard causing the rearwheelks to lock up. vehicles have transmission issues such as shuddering and shaking in higher gears, and hesitation and lurching in lower gears. They also allege that GM told dealers to tell customers that these harsh shifts were normal

driving on [XXX] in Idaho stopped at rest area went to restroom came out my truck was smoking lifted the hood fire started on top left of engine got safely from truck and called 911 truck burnt to ground. Since i was stopped i was not in truck but if i did not stop it could of been fatal. My insurance has the truck now waiting on them for their investigation. there was no warning of any kind no dings going off no engine lights on since it burnt to the ground dont know if it can be determined what caused it but it would be nice to know why a 2021 chevy silverado with 43000 miles on it would just start on fire just had it serviced a week before this happed at a chevy dealer their is no recalls on my vin number writing this so maybe if this happens again that they will find the problem before some fatalitiy. I'm beginning to have similar problems with the 6.2 ecotec3 engine that gm has known problems and hasn't recalled them. Dealer indicates metal shavings from the main motor bearings. Just like others I will experience a total motor failure at anytime. This will be catastrophic if motor fails and shuts down. I fear I will be rear-ended or not be able to get out of harms way. This has happened to many with the same motor. Why would there not be a safety recall on a known safety issue. Others affected have been injured even killed because there vehicle just stopped in the middle of a roadway. I currently fear for my families safety and cannot simply opt out of a vehicle with only 18,000 and thousands invested. Instead it sits waiting for the right thing to be done. To be repaired to safely use. Thank you kindly.

I bought my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST used almost 2 years ago. I noticed shortly after buying it that the truck will stall in low gear then lunge forward unexpectedly, it didn't do it all the time just once in a while. Problem is it seems to be happening more frequently and varies in severity. I've asked the local GM dealerships about this issue several times while having it in for service or oil changes. But was told each time that its common with that transmission and nothing to be concerned about, the problem is that I am. I recently started doing research on this and noticed I'm not the only one having these same issues. I'm filing a report as it worries me that a vehicle I'm making payments on is acting this way. I'm also concerned that with the truck in drive and moving, without warning then lunges forward could cause myself or someone else serious injury or worse. This I believe is not the fault of the owner/driver, but GM itself. This problem is not an isolated issue, but one shared by many consumers, me included.

Cylinder 5 misfire due to collapsed lifter and bent pushrod. 3rd time this has happened. Dealer replace half of engines lifters at 4K miles, the other half at 19K miles and now it’s occurred again even with all the lifters replaced in the engine.

Doing 65mph on interstate on cruise control, the transmission went into 'false neutral' and engine revs went sky high. Truck slowed quickly, almost got rear ended. After that, the transmission did engage and I barely made it home. Very dangerous! Transmisison had to be rebuilt. Only 126,000 miles on a 2018 truck.

experienced several years of misfire problems , replaced spark plugs twice which seemed to fix the problem short term. while out of my home state(retraining for a new job in the Airforce) the misfire became significantly worse and made the truck undrivable. brought the truck to a local mechanic and they told me that I had bad misfires on the AFM/DOD cylinders and need to replace them all. chevy confirmed the diagnosis also stated there not going to offer coverage for this know issue. this know failure has costed me 15k in total costs when GM has know about this for years and could have fixed it before costing me so much money . I've also received no help from the chevy dealership or corporate regarding this know problem and I've been told its going to be an out of pocket repair and there's noting they will dop to help.

Chassis framework has corrosion including perforation of major frame parts near rear wheels and under the fuel tank. Vehicle has only 70,000 miles and has been well taken care of including regular winter weather washings with underbody wash package. This is a known problem and should have been addressed similar to Toyota truck frame problems. Now I have a like-new appearing vehicle which has been well maintained however the chassis frame is now unsafe and in need of repair. This problem should be addressed up to and including frame replacement.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Custom, bought new on August 10, 2020. On August 24, 2020 I returned the vehicle to the dealership with 524 miles on the odometer, for hard downshifting at low speeds. The technician returned the truck with 531 miles, stating that he could not duplicate the issue. The issue continued along with occasional shudder at speeds around 40-50 m.p.h. On December 14, 2022 I took the truck to a different dealership with 1,616 miles and it was returned with 1,625 miles on the odometer. The technician found a slight shudder at 25-30 m.p.h. under light acceleration, but could not duplicate any other malfunction. The technician stated there was no metal debris in the fluid pan and performed a flush and refill of transmission fluid, installed updated thermal bypass valve and three seals. The issues still persisted, but not as harsh or as frequently prior to this service. I returned to the original dealership again on September 3, 2020 with the same concerns at approximately 28-K miles. Again, after having my truck (4) days, the original dealership's technician stated that he could not duplicate the problem(s).

- #11612838September 5, 2024AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS
The contact owned a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving at 55 MPH, he dozed off as the vehicle drifted off to the right shoulder of the highway. The contact regained alertness once the vehicle drove over the highway's rumble strip. As the contact attempted to regain control of the vehicle; the vehicle crashed into a tree. The contact's face smashed into the steering wheel as both the driver's seat belt shoulder strap and the driver's air bag failed to operate as needed. Moments after smashing his head into the steering, the contact stated that the air bag deployed with a delay which caused severe cuts to the contact's face. The contact was taken to the hospital by ambulance where he was treated for multiple severe injuries. Due to the air bag failure, the contact suffered a severe laceration that started from the right corner of the contact's mouth and extended to the contact's left earlobe. The contact suffered another laceration that started from the center of his bottom lip and curved down to the left side of his chin. In addition, the contact suffered a right orbital socket fracture, two vertebrae fractures in the neck, a torn right shoulder, multiple torn tendons in the right arm and five broken teeth. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed from the scene to an independent tow yard where it was destroyed. The dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.
