The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40-45 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle decelerated to 30-35 MPH. Additionally, the vehicle made abnormal rattling sounds and failed to exceed 30-35 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the knock sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred two months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the knock sensors and the engine were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, Zimbrick Chevrolet Service (1877 W Main St #200, Sun Prairie, WI 53590), where the knock sensors and the knock sensors terminal were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the Engine Control Module (ECM) needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist because the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

For the last couple of months my Chevy Cruze LT 1.4L turbo engine has been having severe cooling issues making my car overheat in a little amount of time. I drive 20 minutes back and forth to work and everytime I get to work or get home from work I find myself having to fill up with antifreeze again and again and again. I’ve replaced the water pump and multiple hoses. And now I have to replace more hoses.

Vehicle had a cracked piston. Now the vehicle is very sluggish while accelerating from a stop. Burns a tremendous amount of fuel. Vehicle is also stalling frequently. It’s been to Chevrolet twice and a mom and pop shop and nobody can figure out what the problem is.

Based off my mechanic's assessment and that of a Chevrolet dealership, one of the cylinders in my Chevy Cruze is no longer firing. The dealership believes at least one of the pistons needs to be replaced. The car is available for inspection. The car is unreliable to drive, as I drove up a freeway incline it slowed to a dangerously low speed for freeway driving. The dealership has confirmed they believe it is an issue with the piston but will not confirm without charging $2800 to dismantle the car and are not able to guarantee they will be able to fix the issue. Diagnostics were run on the car at Putnam Chevrolet in Burlingame CA. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to a major issue with the cars functionality. The issue first appeared June 15, 2023 without any warning. The engine light came on and the car was not functioning properly, plus a notification to "service Stabilitrek". I have found mention of the same problem on consumer forums. Cracked pistons are a KNOWN issue on this make and model but there are no recalls and the car is just outside of the warranty.

When I start my car it will sputter then die, also cuts off while driving. It cuts off but will crank up and die again after so many tries it will drive a while and do it again. The check engine was on and I have fixed the O2 sensor, the mass air flow sensor, Ive replaced the turbo hose it had a big chunk ripped out of it which we have no clue how that happened, I just changed the PCV valves a few weeks ago and the car started but would not go in drive nor reverse put it back in shop and cleaned the throttle body and it ran good the whole day today I started cutting off again.

The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was later taken to the local transmission service center and the transmission was rebuilt. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. We have had this car for little over a 1.5yrs without any issues. Within the past 2 months, the vehicle has been malfunctioning, primarily the auto stop feature. On four separate occasions, when braking is engaged and bringing the vehicle to full stop, the engine cuts off, leaving all other components running, and the check engine light comes on. After approximately 1.5 hours of waiting, the engine turns on, the check engine light is gone and once it reaches the service center, diagnostics are unable to detect any issues. There are 3 calls on our account for our vehicle issue. The problem is that in every incident, the vehicle could not be recovered to have it at the service center within less than 2 hours to be properly diagnosed. When connected to the diagnostics, there isn't an indication of the malfunction. The first incident occurred May13,2023, at a stop light within 3 miles of the dealership, on our way to a family birthday party, 2 hours away. Service center was within an hour of closing, and asked we tow it there, they will investigate on May 15,2023, when they are open. After waiting in 90degree+ weather for AAA for almost 2 hours, (they said we would have to wait for 3 hours), I attempted to start the vehicle, and it turned over. We drove home and brought it to the service center, nothing on diagnostics. Frustrated, we left. Second incident occurred on July 5,2023, morning of my knee surgery. I was stranded on an off ramp at a light. We towed it to the dealership, again, and they were too busy to look at right away. By the next morning, it resolved itself. Again. Third incident occurred July 11, 2023, in Greensboro, after an appointment consulting on oral surgery and scheduling for my wife, in the parking lot of the office. We called the dealership, and for approximately 45 min. they tried to assist, no avail. 1.5hrs pass, it starts. AGAIN, doesn't register. Fourth incident on July 15, 2023, in my driveway. It started this morning. BEYOND frustrated.

I was on my way home, its a 15 minute drive, I was about 5 minutes from home, I was on 279 North doing 50 mph, no warning at all the gas pedal started to lock, then the brakes and steering wheel. Next thing I sern was a flame out of my exhaust and smoke under my hood. I thought the car was going to burn up. No check engine light came on, no warning lights, NOTHING, had to get it towed off the highway. My Car only has 50,000 miles on it. This happened on the highway, luckily it was around 11pm and not ti busy, & could of been deadly. My engine blew the pistons out of it from what Im told! Safety Hazard!

The contact stated that the vehicle was designed with the Auto START/STOP feature; however, while at a complete stop, the engine turned off but failed to restart. The contact shifted into park (P) and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving between 35-65 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle jolted and hesitated to respond. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The contact also stated that the check engine warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed but no issues were found. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

I purchase this car in 2017 apprentices 2017 Cruze at the time it only have four thousand miles it has 80,000 MI it was a fuel injector pump replaced next to the engine at everybody there knew that the car was defective due to the fact that they have several men that don't know what they're doing and working on these cars are unprofessional workers and everybody here knows that they keep repairing cars and they need to send them back to the manufacturer for DFCS and numerous problems they said everybody here got nothing but junk cars and they need help to replace them immediately in this car the cruise and the Malibu the odometer kept sticking and going bad and they did replace it once and then they replaced it again and they left the park open in the vehicle you always have to get so many oil changes with this and then the one-time the Auto stop feature had got stuck on a train track and it was very hard to get that car off we had got frightened and had jumped off the car over here in Milwaukee off of 2nd street or 1st Street we're trying to report whatever we can so I can get a replacement vehicle or sometimes the rear camera was defective to it didn't always come on right away

Douglas all seasons is usually sold in Walmart is a good brand but there's some times that are just goes out of it completely when it hits a tire or nail and can cause a major accident and doing the time whenever the potholes you can barely feel if your tire has air in it and another thing is very hard to get that tire off of your vehicle and you have to be to have a special tool or something like that in order to take that tire off and it don't always erupt with a regular air pump outside and you have to try to rush to a detour somewhere to get are so I kind of feel like it's an inconvenience having that type of tire or vehicle I usually purchase for room they run between the amount of $55 all the way up to 65 what tire rotation I think the warranty is up to like 3 months the warranty is up to 3 months or a year depending on how much you spend

Car very suddenly started having slow acceleration, and vibration felt during acceleration. Check engine light on with StabiliTrak warning message on dashboard. Rough idle and vibration felt in cabin. Difficulty accelerating at traffic light and car seemed to almost stall at one point. Diagnosed at the dealer with cracked pistons in engine with code P0300 for random misfire. 2017 Chevy Cruz has passed the power train warranty by 1 year. Mileage odometer reading is about 58200. GM is not willing to replace without charging $4700 for replacing the faulty piston components in the engine even though this poses safety hazard for regular driving. After some research, this seems to be a widely known problem of this generation Chevy Cruz and GM has even changed the part number of the piston assembly to replace the faulty pistons in engine. This needs to be a recall!

This car has had many heating/cooling issues. Coolant leaks is a constant. From having vacuum leaks to thermostat housing issues. Constantly having to add coolant. I've read this is a common issue with Sonics and Cruzes. Our other car is a Sonic with the same issued. We always have a certified mechanic do the repair but same thing happens. Help!

I was at a stop light. The cars feature that shuts off the engine when stopped at a light failed as it completely would not start again. This has happened to me a few times now. One of those times it was at a busy intersection and I was almost hit. I had to shut off the car and turn it back on again to get it to move. I spoke to someone at Chevrolet and I was told this feature can not be turned off in this model and there have been known issues. I do not know why with this being known that nothing has been recalled on the vehicle. I can not remember if lights turned on as it was extremely stressful to go through.

When i turn the A/C on, it appears a message on the screen that says A/C off due to high engine temperature. The car is losing coolant without external leak. A mechanic performed a cold pump test to the cooling system and no external leak was found. After that it was performed a compression test at a shop to each cylinder, finding that there's a bad head gasket. My car only has 70.000 miles and it has a bad head gasket already. This can cause an accident because when your engine is overheating, you should pull over your car as soon as possible to avoid any serious damage on your car. Besides that, the losing of coolant should cause a fire on the engine. There are recalls for the same vehicle but not for the 2015 Cruze and I have read lot of complaints about the same issue.
