While the vehicle was parked and powered off, a fire originated inside the driver seat area. There was no collision, no aftermarket electrical equipment installed, and no heated seat or accessory usage at the time of the incident. The vehicle was stationary when the fire began. The fire damage was concentrated within the driver seat assembly, consistent with a suspected electrical failure involving seat wiring, seat-mounted components, or associated harnesses. This is not consistent with owner misuse or external ignition sources. The insurer (Allstate Insurance Company) declared the vehicle a total loss but declined further fire-origin or electrical defect investigation. The vehicle is at risk of being sold or dismantled through a salvage auction, which would destroy critical evidence related to a potential manufacturer defect. The vehicle is currently listed on Copart (Lot# 99091095 highlighted as ‘Run and Drive’) I have completed a Power of Attorney (HSMV 82053) per Allstate requirement, along with a limited conditions notification for evidence preservation however Allstate is refusing to accept the conditions stating their intent to sell it as salvage. This incident presents a serious safety concern involving spontaneous ignition within the passenger compartment. Similar failures pose a risk of injury, death, or property damage, particularly if ignition occurs while occupied. I am requesting that NHTSA review this incident for potential electrical system or seat assembly defects and preserve this complaint as part of any pattern or trend analysis involving Toyota vehicles.

The paint on my 2013 Toyota Corolla, Super White (040), is peeling extensively down to the primer on the roof, hood, trunk, and door frames and pillar areas. Toyota previously acknowledged this issue as a manufacturing defect affecting 2008–2017 Corollas and issued a Warranty Enhancement Program to address it. My vehicle’s claim for assistance was denied solely due to the program expiration, even though the defect persists. The peeling is widespread, severe, and not consistent with normal wear or environmental exposure. The metal surfaces are exposed, increasing the risk of corrosion. I am submitting this complaint to document the defect and Toyota’s refusal to assist despite prior acknowledgment.

Vehicle information: - Make/Model: 2022 Toyota Corolla - In-service date: 08/18/2022 My vehicle sustained significant wiring damage caused by rodents. Toyota has denied warranty and financial assistance, characterizing the issue as an “outside influence.” However, according to what I read online, modern vehicles —including Toyota models—use soy-based or bio-based wiring insulation, which is widely documented to attract rodents. The damage affected critical electrical wiring, creating potential safety hazards including loss of vehicle function and increased fire risk. This is not merely cosmetic damage but impacts essential vehicle systems. The foreseeability of rodent attraction due to wiring materials raises concerns of a design-related safety defect and failure to adequately warn consumers. Toyota has stated there are no recalls or customer support programs addressing this issue, despite recurring reports from vehicle owners nationwide. On December 12, 2025, I was in a head on car accident in my 2021 Toyota Corolla nightshade. I was slammed into the steering wheel which caused injury. My car has over $14,000 worth of damage to the front yet my airbags did not deploy. I have taken my car to Toyota several times over the past few years and every time I’ve asked about a remedy for this recall I’ve been told there is no remedy as early as June or July 2025 I had to bring my car in for a manufacturer defect with the engine that Toyota fixed for free. I asked them about the recall on the airbags. They again told me there was no remedy.

Driving on highway around 65mph, car shut down internally completely blacking out inside. Turned back on a few seconds later while still driving all lights were blinking. Pushed the SOS no-one answered pushed again then someone came on. Matches the same description on the other 2025-26 hybrids in the corolla cross and camry hybrid.

after fueling strong fuel smell in vehicle within 100 miles check fuel cap light came on. next day check engine light came on. made appointment at dealership . dealership performed evap smoke test which found smoke coming from top of fuel cell. installed fuel pump ring and evap hose clip. performed evap test and smoke test -passed cleared codes. got car back next day less than 50 miles later ck engine code and fuel cap and fuel odor back.

The contact owned a 2024 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped on a curb with another vehicle approximately 8 -10 feet ahead, the brake pedal was depressed to shift into park; however, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated that because of the failure, the contact's vehicle rear-ended the Honda CR-V vehicle that was parked in front of the contact's vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle's speed was only 3–4 MPH. No air bags deployed. The other vehicle sustained damage to the rear bumper. The contact's vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The contact's vehicle was condemned as a total loss by the insurance adjuster. No police report was filed. No injuries were sustained. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that whenever the vehicle was shifted to park(P), the word (P) was illuminated on the PRNDL, but the word was not displayed on the instrument cluster. The contact stated that while shifted to drive(D) there was no indication of drive on the PRNDL, or the instrument cluster, and the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while shifted to reverse(R). The contact had been advised by a mechanic on how to reset the parking brake to be able to shift to park(P), drive(D) or reverse(R). The contact had been advised to lift the parking brake lever and hold it for 5 seconds and then depress the lever and hold for 5 seconds. The contact was able to shift to any gear, and the vehicle would move after performing the reset. The contact normally did not engage the parking brake, however, when the failure first occurred, the warning "EPB Stopped Completely" illuminated twice but had not illuminated in weeks. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent but had gradually become a recurring failure. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

I am writing to inform you of some recurring issues with my vehicle. The car has been displaying several (5) alerts, including those related to the parking brake system, drive-start control system, check engine light, vehicle stability control system, and secondary collision brake system. I took the car to a dealer for repairs, and they assured me that the issues were resolved. However, the following day, the problems reappeared. Additionally, when I start the car, it emits an unusual sound and begins to shake. Unfortunately, The dealer had 5 days my car to repair and denied to provide a rental car. I don't understand the reason if my car is new and the problem is manufacturing I would appreciate your assistance in addressing these ongoing concerns.

Clutch Slave Cylinder at 51,000 miles failed causing vehicle clutch to not return and loss of fluid. Brake fluid and clutch fluid are used in the same reservoir and could cause issues causing vehicle to not be able to stop. Vehicle has been inspected by shop and has been replicated. The part exploded and leaks fluid inside of transmission housing. This also causes the clutch to fail as-well. Vehicle has always been serviced and maintained and this is a common issue with all vehicles that have 6 speed manual transmission with varying mileage. It is not a matter of if, it’s when and due to this being something that happens with generally no warning signs can be dangerous. There needs to be an updated part that can handle the design Toyota chose for this transmission.

Under certain daylight conditions, the dashboard (or a component of it) reflects sharply on the windshield, producing a glare so intense that it significantly impairs my ability to see the road ahead. Vehicle details: Make: Toyota Model: Corolla Year: 2014 VIN: [XXX] Approx. current mileage: [insert mileage] Problem description: - At specific times of day — when sun angle, interior lighting, and windshield geometry combine — the dashboard reflection becomes very pronounced. - The reflected dashboard elements (vents, panels, interior contours) appear on the windshield glass and overlap the driver’s forward view. - This glare regularly blocks or obscures pedestrians, other vehicles, road signs, or hazards ahead. - The issue is not cosmetic; it directly reduces visibility and increases risk while driving. - The vehicle remains stock — no aftermarket modifications have been made to dashboard or windshield that could cause this reflection. The contact stated that while parking in a post office parking lot and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle experienced sudden and unintended acceleration, crashed into a tree, and shut off. There was no warning light illuminated before or after the crash. There was no property damage. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained a hematoma and pain in the right arm. The contact's friend transported the contact to Urgent Care, where the contact received medical assistance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, where it was totaled by the insurance company. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure.
