When using built in carplay navigation the gps will start drifting 10-20 feet from the highway into field or other highways causing it to reroute constantly. When phone is disconnected from CarPlay during the gps drifting current location will go back to right location on the phone. We tried connecting different phone to Corolla all had the same issues. My other two cars Don’t have this issue using the phones. Dealers won’t address the issue

I bought a used 2022 Toyota Corolla LE but it is showing corrosion on the hood. The left axle is vibrating over 40 mph when accelerating, confirmed by a mechanic. Toyota tells me the warranty expired at 36,000 miles, my car has about 36,800.

- #11614919September 16, 2024LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
Ever since my vehicle was new, the driver side blind spot monitor will periodically not work. This issue occurs primarily when starting the vehicle using the Toyota app, but also will have the issue when starting the vehicle normally. When all conditions are met, the driver side blind spot monitor will fail to illuminate during an entire trip unless the driver either: turns the vehicle off and back on, or: goes into the vehicle settings while driving and turns the blind spot monitor off and then on again. Upon doing either of these things, the driver side blind spot will resume normal operation. The issue has been confirmed by a Toyota dealership and is on file for my vehicle, and I also have video footage of the issue. While the dealership was able to witness the issue, the vehicle produces no codes and so the Toyota engineer advised it was a condition issue and not a vehicle issue. But this issue has been happening to me randomly since I got the car, and all of the facts point to this NOT being a condition issue. There are also SEVERAL other complaints on Toyota and Lexus forums for this exact same issue for varying models such as the Corolla Cross. This is a safety risk and can increase the possibility of a crash. While blind spot monitoring is intended to be an aid and should not be solely relied upon, inevitably there are drivers who will rely on that blind spot monitoring, not know it's broken, and potentially get into a collision due to the system leading them to believe the coast is clear, when it indeed is not. The first time I noticed it, which was within one week of owning the car back in January 2024, I was trying to get over to the left, saw that the blind spot was not illuminated, and almost made the turn except I checked manually first and saw there was a vehicle in my blind spot that the car did not pick up on. The fact that all it takes it turning the car off and on again leads me to believe this is a safety defect that needs addressed.

Engine coolant bypass valve malfunctioned at 34xxx miles, causing “engine maintenance required” this could cause the engine to get too hot or not hot enough and affect the internal components of the engine. After speaking to others with the same model and even other models, it seems to be a ongoing issue for many people.

- #11614122September 12, 2024EXTERIOR LIGHTING
I would like to raise a concern regarding the headlight shadow issue in the 2023 Toyota Corolla. Specifically, there are noticeable dark spots or shadows when using the low beams, which significantly obscure portions of the road during night driving. I believe this is a design flaw in the vehicle’s lighting system. My parents, aged [XXX] and [XXX] , have found this shadow effect to be particularly challenging, making it difficult and unsafe for them to drive at night. Additionally, I understand that many other 2023 Toyota Corolla owners have expressed similar complaints, which further suggests this issue is widespread and deserves attention. I was sitting idle in my car. The two cars crashing icon came on even though I was in the parking lot doing nothing. There was also issues with the other indications where I would use the back arrow on my steering wheel to clear the issue and it would not clear. Seems unsafe and scary.

At 61,000 miles I got an engine maintenance required light. After doing research on the Internet, I see that many people with the corolla similar years have had this issue. It is an engine coolant bypass valve.

Morning of 08/11/2024, started car and put in Sport mode. Drove under 20 mph for 3 blocks to leave neighborhood. Got to main street intersection and waited for an opening, then pressed the gas and nothing happened except the check engine light came on and dash message of Ignition On, but car was not operating. Pushed ignition button and it came on and dash cleared. Has not happened again and dealership could not replicate and no codes saved.

Volume of media from certain apps can't be adjusted. The vehicle says that if media is not playing, the volume can't be adjusted. This can cause distraction while driving and increase risk of a crash. Specific application where this is the case: Youtube audio through an Android Auto connection. Yes it is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of others is at risk, because all Toyota models with this infotainment system function the same way. Drivers may choose to become distracted by their mobile device while trying to adjust the media volume, risking a crash. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by dealer, however it would be very easy for me to do so. The vehicle has not been inspected by any party outside of the Toyota dealership. When attempting to adjust the volume, the volume level will appear as a numerical value in the infotainment screen ONLY IF there is currently "audio" playing. If there is no "audio" playing, an error message will appear telling the occupant to begin playing audio to adjust the volume. This becomes an issue when using an app like YouTube to play audio. With YouTube Premium, you can set a playlist of music, videos, or podcasts to listen to with the screen of your mobile device off. However, the infotainment system will not detect the audio the speakers is playing AS AUDIO, and will not adjust the volume. This leaves the driver with no choice but to pay for a Spotify, Sirius XM or Youtube Music subscription in order to listen to music or media and adjust the volume safely. Reproduction: Start vehicle. Start Android Auto. Start playing media through YouTube. Attempt to adjust media volume using the dial or buttons in the vehicle. Error message should appear. Only way to adjust volume is to switch to FM/AM Radio, play Spotify or other app to adjust volume and then resume YouTube media (REQUIRES TOUCHING PHONE), or don't use Android Auto and pay for Toyota GPS. HOW TO FIX: Allow volume adjustment at all times.

I have been taking my Toyota to Sun Toyota for routine maintenance and inspections. Upon today’s inspections they are claiming the battery looks like it leaked on the axial, some of the undercarriage components look broken and rusty. Possibly needing replacement. The overall car is less than 60k in mileage so that seems odd to me. I also brought the car in at 45k and they made no mention of these issues during that vehicle inspection. I asked about my brakes and braking issues. I do not slam on my brakes and the technician said I should stop braking too hard. There is noticeable wear now on them. I asked them to change them at the previous visit and they refused saying it did not need it. I am concerned for my safety and lack of care at this sun Toyota.

- #11607766August 10, 2024SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
The system that is problematic for this vehicle is the Pre Collision System (PCS). This system is way too sensitive even on the lowest sensitivity setting, and I have experienced the car braking in error on multiple occasions when driving up or down a windy road. When I approach a bend in the road and there is a car parked on the side of the street, my Corolla will think that I am about to collide with the parked vehicle and make a loud beeping noise and automatically hit the brakes. This has frightened me on a number of occasions, and I am concerned that one day the car will brake in error while there is another vehicle behind me, resulting in a read-end collision. The only consistent method of avoiding this is to drive past the median in the road when approaching bends, which I very much dislike doing, as driving in the middle of the road has its own obvious risks. I have tried contacting the dealership about this, and was told to contact the service department. The service department was no help, saying that they aren't able to do anything about it and that I could try lowering the sensitivity of the PCS, which I had already done. This wouldn't be such a huge issue if there was a way to permanently turn it off. The process for turning it off takes about a minute, as it requires navigating a menu and finding the PCS option to turn off. Unfortunately, the PCS automatically reactivates every time the car is turned off and on again, and even if I use the shortcut method of holding the lane assist button for several seconds to disable the PCS, the car's screen will constantly flash, telling me that the PCS is turned off and annoying the driver to turn it back on. I know that Toyota does not have this issue with their PCS systems on their other vehicles, as I have driven a 2019 Camry before and the PCS system never went off when I drove on the same road, which led me to believe that the system on this 2024 Corolla is somehow defective.

M car was towed to Toyota because my automatic parking brake failed to release. No warning lights nor any indication my battery was low. It licked my rear wheels so I could not drive. (Thank God I was not in a fire zone requiring evacuation!) there are NO manual release for the emergency brake to use in an emergency to flee an area. They said my battery was not carrying the load, and replaced it. This is a very serious safety issue! What if it was a Sunday and Toyota closed?? Most repair shops are closed on Sundays! I’m [XXX] and [XXX]. PLEASE ADVISE TOYOTA TO ADD OR RETROFIT A MANUAL PARKING BRAKE RELEASE to resolve this issue. AND….check to make sure their analysis was correct that my battery was too low! Yes the car can be inspected. Yes took to dealership today and they don’t know what’s causing it but what between $855 - 1,100 to fix. When it rains the front wipers automatically come on as they should. Then without warning, they stop working and on three occasions a wiper flew off and my teenager had to stop and run into middle of road to get the wiper. She was on a rural highway and could not see well without the wipers working. I replaced the wipers, but when it down poured rain again, like before they just stopped working with no warning. She had to drive 25 mph on a road that was ranges 45 -55 mph. She had a very hard time seeing and could have wrecked. This could have caused an accident had she been on the freeway going 70 mph. A Google search shows others have experienced this issue with their car. The only person who has inspected the issue / car is the Toyota dealership today. They said they don’t know what’s causing it and would cost more money to try and diagnose, but they said it appears if you run the wipers at the very slowest speed it does not malfunction. I don’t have the money to fix it right now, so we are going to try and not drive in rain and if caught in a storm while driving, like before, we will try running wipers at lowest speed as they suggested. First incident was April or May 2024. Most recent incident was July 2024. Sorry I don’t have exact dates.
