STEERING
Steering wheel is sticking at highway speeds. When going around a curve at highway speeds, steering becomes stuck, requiring additional effort to turn and keep vehicle centered in lane. Steering wheel has to be 'broken loose' by pulling it to the direction opposite of the curve. This results in the vehicle bouncing around lanes which is unsafe. The vehicle is currently at the dealer being inspected. No warnings were present.

LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, STEERING
There is a potential safety risk with the 2024 Mazda CX-90 power steering/lane keep assist. When traveling at moderate speeds steering left into a turn the vehicle jerks to the right. I do not believe this is a direct problem with the lane keep assist as the problem only occurs when in the center of the travel lane and not while on the edge of the road. Lane keep assist works as intended when on the edge of the road or on the center stripped line as I feel a gentle assist again as intended. The hard pulling to the right problem only occurs when steering left into a turn. There are no warning lights on the instrument cluster. The authorized dealer has not been able to reproduce the issue. The issue has been ongoing for at least the past six months.

STEERING
The steering is notchy during turns when the steering wheel is off center, making fine turning adjustments very difficult especially during turns. If any bumps are encountered during a turn or any turning adjustments need to be made, the steering will catch and release and move in a different direction than expected. It requires constant adjustment but the adjustments are not smooth, there is a binding/notchy feeling. When the car is stationary, the it is clearly observed by turning the wheel slowly and feeling the vibrations or observing the continuous jumps in steering wheel. I took the car into the dealer for repair under warranty and they said the steering wheel turns side to side so it's not a problem and refused to further diagnose or make any repairs. I told them it was unsafe to drive the car as is and they said there was nothing wrong with the car so they wouldn't be doing anything more. I asked to show them what was wrong and they said they had done enough and refused to do any more diagnostics. I asked them to look into Safety Recall 6524A and said it feels a lot like what other people describe was wrong with that recall, they said the recall has already been done to this vehicle it doesn't apply, and furthermore that the recall was not an actual issue but just Mazda wanting stiffer steering feel. I now have an appointment with a different dealer to see if they will fix it since the car feels very dangerous to drive as is.

Upon starting the vehicle, on the dash there was a message "hybrid system malfunction" as well as "engine malfunction have the vehicle inspected". Upon driving it home, the same message appeared 10/24/25 as of today when the car starts now the only message that remains is "engine malfunction have the vehicle inspected" I have an appointment at Mazda on 10/30/25 for the vehicle to be inspected. This vehicle has already been taken to this location for two recalls. Today 10/26/25 I looked up my vin for any new recalls and there is an additional recall. Manufacturer Recall Number7825I NHTSA Recall Number25V-568 Summary When fuel containing ethanol is used, it may react with materials on the sending unit circuit board in the sub-tank. This reaction can create a buildup that interferes with the gauge function that may cause the display on the instrument cluster to read an incorrect fuel level. Safety Risk If the vehicle incorrectly indicates an inaccurate fuel level, there is a risk of running out of fuel while driving. This would result in an engine stall and the vehicle cannot be restarted, increasing the risk of a crash.

The chrome/metal lining/coating on the Parking Break Switch peels off leaving a very sharp metal edge that cuts the finger (with bleeding) when owner tries to enable the parking break.

STEERING
The steering rack catastrophically failed at highway speeds with no warning or signals from from the car that anything was wrong. I was driving on a curvy highway at 60mph when the steering started to feel a bit weird when turning to the left. At first it felt like irregularities in the road surface or something of that nature. A few moments later, it was clear that something was completely broken as the car would turn to the right completely normally, but had a wildly different amount of feeling and effort required to turn left at highway speeds. When taking a left curve at highway speeds, the steering inconsistently switched from taking several times more effort to turn the wheel (feeling as if components were grinding together) to being lighter than normal, oscillating back and forth between these feelings randomly. I distinctly remember that recall 6524A and the associated stop sale was for "2024 Mazda CX-90 vehicles that have a sudden increase in steering effort while driving" due to "A worm gear in the steering gear assembly may have excessive friction, leading to a sudden increase in the effort required to turn the steering wheel while driving" which said that "This sudden change in steering effort could increase the risk of a crash". I'm suspicious that the failure that I experienced is related to this original issue despite the recall being "resolved" for my 2024 CX-90. I can say with certainty that I'm lucky that I did not crash due to the issue. I'm extremely concerned that this failure poses an imminent safety risk for drivers in other CX-90s. I'm also concerned that Mazda created a new steering rack for later model years unaffected by recall 6524A and provided an ineffective fix to the original problem.

TIRES
The tires are listed with the manufacturer and were sold by Mazda on a brand new car to me as 65,000 mile tires I was at a little over 17,000 when Mazda said they were “wearing” oddly and this past Monday they said I needed replacement tires. The pros at the dealership stated they are seeing all CX-90 and CX-70 hybrids need tires before 25,000 miles. It is all over the internet that people are being told the extra weight and torque from the motor are wearing tires to quickly leading to needing to replace them well before time and or some folks are having tire failures. The couple at 16,000 miles needing tires was horrible to watch. It is my belief that the issue is a Mazda and falken failure due to a tire being used that is not suitable for the performance for the vehicle leading to a failure in safety. The dealership also stated the mileage had been removed from the tire sheet by Mazda for this particular tire in the last couple weeks so consumers can no longer request the printout for the VIN of their vehicle, but the mileage still remains for CX-5 options at 65,000. Mazda knows it is an issue and needs to find a solution quickly before lives are lost.

The car automatically brakes at lower speeds. This happens about 3x week and typically on a specific freeway entrances but in other locations as well. I believe this is a known phantom braking issue but for some reason my car is not included in the recall.

The contact owns a 2024 Mazda CX-90. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V568000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
The drive power on my 2025 Mazda CX-90 was SEVERELY reduced last week while making a left turn in front of oncoming traffic. No warning light nor sound from my car appeared at the time of this incident. The vehicle was purchased 5 months ago and there have been other occasions where the power was reduced while turning. This incident, however, was the most dangerous. The turn was made at a traffic light while sitting on a hill yielding to oncoming traffic. The approaching car was moving slow enough to make a safe left turn in front of it, but the lack of power prevented me from making a reasonable (not reckless) fast turn. Fortunately the oncoming vehicle was able to stop in time to prevent an accident.

I bought a brand new 2024 CX90 in May 2025. I was on the on-ramp entering a Highway at an accelerating speed when the car all of a sudden went into a limp mode and was unable to accelerate. This limp mode that kicked in almost caused me to be hit from behind. Immediately on the dash it flashed Engine Malfunction. I had to pull over to the side of the highway and had the car brought to my local Mazda Dealer. My local Mazda dealer stated that the recent recall #25V-568 NTSHA caused the program/software for the car to misread my fuel pump and essentially burned out my fuel pump, and therefore breaking my fuel pump. They said they called Mazda, and Mazda is denying the fix because there is "no release date". Since Mazda is refusing to fix this, my local dealer says I have to drive the car as is. However, this is unsafe to drive. I paid for a brand new car only for it to have tech issues with Mazda refusing to do any fixes. This is our family car and I drive around with young kids. This is very unsafe to drive and Mazda needs to remedy this siutation immediately.

My Mazda CX90 consistently has a hard delay before jerking my car forward, especially when shifting between 2nd and 3rd gear. This is most common at slow speeds and accelerating from a stop. On top of generally rough shifting, there have been four separate instances where my car blatantly stopped accelerating and slowed my car from 70-80 mph down to 40-45 mph. Once driving up a hill, and the rest on a flat interstate. I tried flooring the gas each time and the rpms would go up to approx 6000, but the car simply would not respond. After multiple attempts to let off of the gas and re-engage the vehicle, my car suddenly began accelerating again and continued as if nothing happened. I have been able to safely move out of traffic's way each time, but this presents a great threat to myself and others as I have no control over my speed and can easily get into a collision. As if uncontrollable stopping on the freeway isn't enough, my vehicle also accelerates on its own and jolts itself forward when driving at slow speeds through parking lots and stand-still traffic. These accelerations have occurred at idle with the breaks both on and off. The vehicle only propels itself forward by a couple of feet, but the issue seems to be getting more severe each time it occurs. Luckily I have been able to control the car and stop myself from hitting others so far, but I am afraid this may cause harm to pedestrians or people in nearby vehicles. I have mentioned these issues to my local Mazda dealership on multiple occasions, but they dismissed my concerns each time and told me my vehicle is in safe operating conditions. They claim they have not been able to replicate any accelerating/ decelerating instances, and they say the car's shifting is within spec. My car has never thrown any codes or displayed warning lights on the dash. I have taken the vehicle in for all recalls and maintained it well. I recently hit 15000 miles, though these issues have been presenting since 5000.

"The steering wheel intermittently sticks and feels resistant when switching lanes or making turns, especially at highway speeds. It does not return smoothly to center, making it feel unsafe and unpredictable. I brought the vehicle to the Mazda dealership, but they stated they 'cannot replicate the issue' and refused to perform any repairs. This is a safety concern because the sticky steering can make it difficult to control the vehicle and could potentially lead to a crash. There are no warning lights or error messages displayed when this occurs. The issue happens intermittently, making it hard to demonstrate on demand, but it is recurring and worsening. Since this is a brand-new 2024 Mazda CX-90, I believe this could indicate a defect in the electric power steering system or related components."

While I understand that tires themselves are typically covered by the tire manufacturer’s warranty, this situation is different. Mazda equipped the CX-90 with Falken OEM tires that are inadequate for the weight and design of the vehicle, leading to premature wear at only 20,000 miles. This is not normal wear-and-tear. My claim is that Mazda bears responsibility for installing unsuitable tires on a heavy SUV, which created a safety hazard.

Decelerating behind traffic my Mazda cx90 shut the engine down. While still rolling traffic began to accelerate and I pressed the accelerator. The engine did not restart. I bottomed out the pedal with no reaction. I completely removed pressure from the pedal then pressed again before the engine restarted. This vehicle has already had a recall repair that seemed to be for this issue

The rear door seals on the vehicle do not seal which allows water and dust to enter the vehicle from the rear two doors. Mazda customer service has been contacted multiple times on this issue and they refuse to address the issue. The dealer it was purchased at said it was a known issue after we had already purchased the vehicle. You can look online and see a bunch of people reporting the same issue with no resolution.
