I am writing regarding a steering safety concern with my 2024 Mazda CX-90 3.3T S Premium Plus. I am experiencing intermittent steering stiffness while driving, which causes the vehicle to wander and sway within its lane and requires constant steering correction. The steering wheel resists smooth input and the vehicle does not track straight. This behavior occurs with Lane Keep Assist fully turned OFF and is independent of any driver assistance features. Behavior creates a safety risk due to a loss of predictable steering control. The dealership attributes this to lane keep assist, but the issue persists independently of any driver assistance features. Behavior occurs at slow and faster rates of speed and sways in either direction.

Need a recall for, P0DAB - Hybrid battery cell balancing conformance error code. Thousands of 2024 CX-90 customers experiencing the issue and MAZDA USA is not responsive. All of the 2024 vehicles are LEMONS and NHTSA should force Mazda to replace these lemons with a new model for the safety of the US citizens.

I have a 2024 MAZD CX-90 Preferred Plus AWD. I was driving my [XXX] grandson to preschool and it sounded as though the passenger's door opened while I was driving. In the split second I looked back to check, unfortunately, I hit a guard rail. My grandson was buckled in his car seat. his first words were "Meme, the door opened but I didn't do it". He was buckled in his car seat and I believe the safety door locks were on. There was no warning sound or light indicating the door was open while I drove. I pulled over, got out of the car and looked. the passenger's back door handle was positioned up but the door was closed. being so shook up, I didn't think to take any pictures. I then had messages on my car saying Dynamic Stability control malfunction - have the vehicle inspected and Engine Malfunction - have the vehicle inspected. I called my dealership to find out if there were any recalls on this type of problem (they said that there weren't any). I have come across a forum where a person states: "So can confirm 1st row passenger door does not provide any warning as well. Looking at the manual, I see that there is supposed to be a warning sound when any door/hood/liftgate is open while driving, as quoted below. If someone else confirms this is normal behaviour, then I think we should file a safety defect complaint with the NHTSA and Transport Canada. “Door-ajar Warning Light/Liftgate-open Warning Light/Hood-open Warning Light The light turns on if any door/liftgate/hood is not closed securely. In addition, the warning sound is activated if any door/trunk lid/liftgate is not closed and the vehicle is driven. Close the door/liftgate/hood securely.” This was a very scary situation. I absolutely will concede that something did happen with this rear passenger door. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While driving at highway speeds (approximately 50–55 mph) on a highly curving road, the steering intermittently became difficult to control. The steering wheel felt locked or stuck in a turned position and required excessive force to return to center. This condition occurred repeatedly over a 14-mile stretch of curvy highway and resulted in a partial loss of steering control, nearly causing collisions with another vehicle on multiple occasions. This incident occurred at approximately 16,900 miles. Although this defect has occurred multiple times since the vehicle was purchased, this was the most severe occurrence and posed a significant and imminent safety risk. The condition was reproduced and confirmed by an authorized dealer, who advised that replacement of the steering rack is required. At no time did any warning lights or messages appear to alert the driver to this dangerous condition. This issue represents a serious safety defect and warrants investigation.

I am experiencing a steering defect in my vehicle that closely mirrors the condition described in Recall No. 6524A, although my specific vehicle VIN is not currently included in the recall. While driving, particularly at highway speeds, the steering wheel intermittently becomes difficult to turn and appears to “stick.” During one incident, I was traveling approximately 55 mph on the freeway while navigating a right-hand curve when the steering wheel suddenly became resistant and did not move smoothly in the direction of the turn. The steering felt as though it momentarily bound or stuck while I was actively turning to the right, requiring increased force to maintain control of the vehicle. In addition to this event, I have repeatedly noticed resistance during right-hand turns, even at lower speeds. The resistance does not feel normal or smooth and gives the sensation that the steering mechanism is catching or binding. This issue occurs without warning and presents a significant safety concern, especially at highway speeds or while navigating curves. The steering resistance reduces the driver’s ability to control the vehicle predictably and could increase the risk of a loss-of-control event or collision. Because the symptoms I am experiencing closely match those described in Recall 6524A, I am concerned that my vehicle may be affected by the same or a related steering defect despite not being officially included in the recall at this time. I am submitting this report in hopes that this issue will looked into immediately.

The steering tramlines, the steering pulls the car when the road surface is uneven so you have to hold on to the steering wheel pretty tight at all times as it could pull you into a dangerous position at any time.

- #11711151January 15, 2026EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Headlights will appear to flicker during lite rain. Light reflected off of objects flicker. On coming traffic interpret the flickering as flashing lights trying to signal an emergency. This is caused by the location of the projector headlight light path being directly under the seam where the hood meets the fenders. During rain water is directed right in the path of the narrow beam beam thrown by the optics used to project the light in front of the cat. As water drips the beams of light are deflected sideways. It causes split second darkness in front of the car and confusion amongst drivers in the oncoming lanes. Mazda has recognized this and has a kit that fixes it but they are not calling it a safety issue and as a result are charging people including me upwards of $600 for the corrective kits installation. It is a safety issue. As a safety issue they should be compelled to install their fix for free. I have included file containing my request for help and Mazda's refusal. In addition I have included the technical bulletin describing the issue and the fix published by Mazda.

The vehicle repeatedly displays warnings including “Acceleration Limited Due to Low Fuel and/or Battery Condition,” Hybrid System Malfunction, and Engine System warnings. These events result in reduced acceleration and loss of power while driving. The condition occurs despite normal fuel levels and routine driving conditions. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership multiple times. Each time, I am told no fault codes are present or the issue cannot be replicated. The warnings continue to recur and remain unresolved. This creates an unsafe driving condition due to unpredictable power limitation. This issue appears to be a known problem affecting Mazda CX-90 vehicles and may be related to hybrid system software or battery management. The vehicle was being driven on a city road (Lake Forrest and University dr in McKinney, TX). Turned right off of a shopping center exit toward Lake Forest Dr. The vehicle lost power all of a sudden and would not accelerate with traffic heading in my direction. The vehicle signaled to stop and place the gear into park. I was able to slowly change lanes and pull into the Chipotle parking lot at 5151 W. University Dr at 10:56 am. I called Mazda Roadside and they came to tow it to El Dorado Mazda dealership. This incident: Date: 01/10/26 Time: 10:56 am Temp: 45° / clear and sunny Previous Incident: 12/04/25 6 pm Parked - Idling at Prosper High School. I-stop and hybrid system malfunction warnings appeared Called El Dorado Mazda- advised it was not a safety issue and sometimes it just needed a software update or the battery was bad. They scheduled a service appt until 12/17/26 due to lack of loaner vehicles available. 12/08/25 / 12:05 pm Clear weather Inspected at El Dorado Mazda Could not be Duplicated. Battery OK Nothing came up on diagnostic machine. Cleared recall. Advised to return if it happened again. Reassured me it was safe to drive and I was not in danger. 12/16/25 Car started from park at home Approx 40-50° 9-10 am 1/10/26-

After having stopped at red light, we made a left turn. I immediately felt a jerking sensation as I turned the wheel both left and right. I moved to a parking lot as I feared loosing steering function altogether, and felt the same jerking while parked and turning my wheel right and left. As my home was only a couple of blocks away, I managed to get my vehilcle home. Again, I can only describe the steering issue as a jerking sensation, or notchy sensation, while turning the steering wheel right or left. Dealership duplicated issue and indicated they contacted Mazda and are awaiting a back-ordered part that is a steering gear (my simple understanding). This event occurred months after Mazda replaced recalled steering issue (6524A)

- #11708631January 4, 2026STEERING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
I am reporting a serious steering safety issue. I was told a steering recall had already been fixed before purchase. About four months later, the steering wheel began locking or strongly resisting movement while driving on curvy roads at speeds over 50 mph. When this happens, the wheel does not return to center and requires force to correct, creating a loss of steering control. I took the vehicle to Passport Mazda in Maryland on January 2, 2026. The dealer stated the entire steering wheel panel needs replacement and the part is backordered until March 2026. This is a dangerous defect in a recently recalled system and needs investigation.

Premature tire tread wear on 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV equipped with OEM Falken tires. At 21,586 miles, an authorized Mazda dealer measured tread depths at 5/32, 5/32, 4/32, and 3/32 (rear tire at replacement threshold). This level of wear is abnormal for the mileage and creates a safety concern due to reduced wet traction and hydroplaning risk. Dealer inspection dated 12/16/2025. Mazda USA case number 00394959.

I am reporting an unresolved safety-related defect with my Mazda CX-90. The vehicle began experiencing repeated malfunctions affecting reliable operation while being driven. The issue was reported to the dealer while the vehicle was still under the manufacturer’s original warranty. The vehicle was taken to a Mazda dealership for diagnosis and repair. The problem has not been resolved, and the vehicle has been held at the dealer for over 30 days. I was provided a manufacturer loaner vehicle because my vehicle has not been deemed reliable to return to service. Mazda North America has escalated the issue and informed the dealer that they are “waiting on Japan” for engineering guidance, indicating there is currently no approved repair or resolution. As of now, no permanent fix has been identified. This defect raises safety concerns because the vehicle’s reliability cannot be assured, and returning the vehicle to service without a confirmed repair could put occupants and others at risk. The extended out-of-service time and lack of an approved repair suggest a potential systemic issue. The vehicle remains available for inspection and is currently in the possession of the Mazda dealer. -

My new Mazda CX-90 failed to restart after being stopped at a stop sign. After restarting manually, the dash displayed the check engine light and the “i-stop malfunction” light. The car now flashes this warning whenever it is on. There is an open recall for this issue (24V-816) but my local Mazda dealer does not pull anything up when they search my VIN. It appears the recall only applies to these vehicles built between 12/23 and 4/24. My car was built in 11/23. I believe this recall should be expanded to included more vehicles like mine.

The exterior rear door handles get stuck in the open position. This is a danger and the door has opened while driving since the door handle did not close all the way. I have tried lubricating the both door handles with no improvement. Our car has never been in accident is approximately 18 months old. I have done research on the internet and it looks like this is not a new problem with multiple owners who have complained to the manufacturer in the past with no fix. Steering "locks up" and the steering wheel is hard to turn back to center when making a left turn. When the vehicle was new and under warrant, I complained to Mazda-USA on 11/21/23 and took it to the dealer and the steering was better afterwards. I assumed they applied grease to something which was Mazda's fix for many other vehicle issues. Now the steering locking issue has returned again and the vehicle is no longer under warranty. I don't feel I should have to pay thousands of dollars to fix their manufacturing defect which came with the new vehicle.
