(1) [XXX] (14,568 mi): The vehicle had been running normally. My wife was about to switch lanes at an intersection when the vehicle started to shake and vibrate. The entire dashboard lit up and the vehicle quickly died. She tried restarting it and the engine wouldn’t turn over. Anytime there was an attempt to restart, there was a potent odor of gasoline. The car died in the middle of the road. It would sort of start but then it wouldn't move and would just shake and smell of gas. After many minutes of trying to start the vehicle, barely got power but was able to pull to side of road around other cars. Hyundai app reported codes: P030300 and P217800. Had car towed to local dealer. Picked the car up and next day spoke to the service manager who indicated there was a 20%-25% chance this would reoccur. He said there was nothing he could do as Hyundai would only cover the cost for the existing issue. The paperwork from the dealer shows it was a P0303 for cylinder 3 misfire and system too rich caused by leaking fuel injector for cylinder 3 (low pressure). [XXX] (14,702 mi) I was driving the car, in middle of an intersection and the vehicle started to vibrate and all lights on dash lit up (check engine, battery, etc.) and smell of gasoline. Car hesitated and wouldn't move. Died in intersection. Had to have 2 people help push me as I was dead in middle of road with people beeping and passing me. Got to side of road and couldn't get vehicle to start. No error codes on app this time, but all symptoms were exactly the same. Called for tow, different dealership due to location. Dealership indicated they would return it to us safe, but because of Hyundai policies, they can only work on the affected items. This is well documented by Hyundai owners of this problem and going by what the service manager of the first location told me, this is common to spread to other injectors. THIS IS UNSAFE! TWICE IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS! TWO MORE INJECTORS! SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFO

Over the last 5-6 years, the 2016 Tucson has experienced an acceleration issue. When making a turn after a stop, the car will not accelerate above 30 mph. The RPMs will go up to 3000-4000, but the car will not go above 30 miles per hour. This has happened 5 times. I have had my mechanic look at the car, but because it was intermittent, they could not determine the cause. The fuel pump as well as the purge solenoid have been replaced on the car. If I turn the car off and let it sit for a few minutes, the issue seems to resolve. Only once has the check engine light gone on. Because the car will not accelerate this is causing a safety issue.

Car suddenly stalled on the interstate (sudden deceleration, could barely make it to the shoulder; engine and oil lights, loud knocking sound, burning smell); per Hyundai dealership, it is sudden engine rod failure. Hyundai recall 181 described this exact situation. If not for quick thinking and moving to the shoulder/shutting down the engine immediately, there was a high chance of either being hit by other vehicles or engine fire. I could have been killed or severely injured. Yes, problem was confirmed by Hyundai dealership. No warning prior to sudden deceleration. Engine and oil warning lamps did not appear until after sudden drop in speed, followed by burning smell.

- #11627731November 27, 2024SERVICE BRAKES, POWER TRAIN
While sitting in stopped traffic on the interstate in the dark in the rain on 11/25/2024 my car was in drive; my foot was on the brake. Twice the car rolled away despite my attempts to brake or put the car in Park (I shoved the shifter into Park and the car continued to roll). I rolled into the back of a semi because I could not get my vehicle to stop. This had already been noted as a problem with 2024 Tucsons, yet your search engine tells me there are 0 unrepaired recalls for my car. I want to call this out as an unrepaired recall. I have left it with the Hyundai dealer at the moment. They tell me if they cannot make the problem happen for them they won't do anything to fix my car. This is a dangerous situation for me and for anyone with a Tucson that may have the same problem.

This car has an option buried deep in the digital menus to limit the speed the car can go. It is impossible to accidentally turn it on. But two times now, the car has set a limit significantly under the road speed limit. For example — the car set a limit of 30 mph in a 45 mph zone, or 20 mph in a 35 mph zone. The only fix is to find a safe place to pull off the road, stop the car and restart. That clears it. I’m lucky that I was not rammed from behind given my forced way-too-slow speed.

The rear driver's side door will not open, neither with the remote nor manually from both the inside and outside. Without enabling rear passengers to exit the car during an emergency is very much a safety issue. No warning lamps or messages.

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to exceed 20 MPH. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while driving on a busy highway. The contact safely pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with engine knock sensor failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer informed the contact that the repair was not covered under an unknown recall due to a lack of maintenance records. The contact was advised to contact the Better Business Bureau. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

My car has paint chipping away in several areas. In my opinion, there is an issue with the type of paint used on my car. I am so hurt that I had to spend all this money on a new vehicle and when it was almost paid off, the paint was coming off. It is no fault of mine because there are toooo many areas all over the vehicle where there are chip areas forming. The biggest, most noticeable area01 is on my hood.

There is a lot of oil consumption, and the turbo is shot. It sits in the back of the engine, which is not collecting air.

- #11627220November 25, 2024VISIBILITY/WIPER
We purchased a brand new 2025 Hyundai Tucson from Earnhardt Hyundai North Scottsdale on October 26, 2024. We brought the car home and while it was parked facing the afternoon sun, we noticed that the entire windshield was speckled with thousands or more spots that greatly reduced the visibility. It was difficult to see through the windshield. We also noticed the same defect on the other windows, however, not as bad. We contacted the dealership and subsequently brought it into their service center for inspection. They confirmed the visibility defect and ordered a new factory replacement windshield and installed it. The replacement windshield, while not perfectly clear of spots, was acceptable for safe driving. The original windshield had such poor visibility in certain conditions that it would be hard to see anything, which would be hazardous while driving. We took possession of the car after the windshield replacement was completed but still feel that the spots on the other windows are a manufacturing defect but do not necessarily create a hazard. Along with employees of Earnhardt dealership, we looked at other brand new 2025 Hyundai vehicles of varying makes and models and observed the same windshield defect in many of the cars we looked at on their sales lot. This does not appear to be an isolated incident, but the dealership said that we were the first customers to bring it to their attention. We feel that knowing there are other cars on the road with diminished visibility that means drivers of those vehicles may not even be aware until conditions prevent them from seeing the road and their surroundings.

12-volt battery dead after 5 days sitting in garage without starting the car. As a result, the doors could not be opened without removing the cap covering the door keyhole. This cover was very difficult to remove and required roadside assistance. The dealer service department advised on 10/28/24 that the battery required replacement but that no batteries were available. The dealer service department advised that procuring a replacement 12-volt battery would take 1 to 3 months. The car is in the possession of the dealer service department and cannot be driven as of today, 11/23/24.

- #11627029November 23, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
From the first day of purchase last June 2024, the front collision warning and avoidance system does not perform as advertised. If a vehicle cuts you off or you approach a vehicle too quickly the warning and braking do not intercede. I’ve taken the car to our local deal 3 times and they have found no trouble codes and say there is nothing they can do. I was also told by the service department manager “that they are all like that”. As a reference, we owned a 2019 Kia Sorrento for 140,000 miles and that collision avoidance system worked perfectly. I also contacted Hyundia National Service and they simply sent me back to the dealer. Lastly, I submitted a Lemon Law request that was rejected by Hyundia.

While on a trip my wife started out leaving the hotel as normal. After a minute of so, we lost the ability to accelerate as if the Tuscon was not responding to the gas pedal. We were lucky we were in town so we pulled into a gas station and turned off the truck. I thought it might be bad gas so we filled the tank with hi-test and turned off several features that are related to speed control (like tracking the speed limit etc.) I have noticed at the same time we lost the ISG system (Idle stop and Go). The indication in the owner's manual points to a battery function that detects the battery is fully charged. I used a voltmeter and the battery reads 12.5v and is charging at 14v. See today's recall for Hyundai vehicles, I think the problem involves a lot more vehicles. If you check the Hyundai forum, there are a lot of complaints on Tucson as well. I hope you take this into consideration when looking into this intergrated charging control issue.

I was driving on [XXX] and the acceleration just started to drastically slow down. I was able to get to the shoulder where the car completely died and wouldn’t cut back on and I had it towed to South Bay Hyundai in Torrance. They said it’s engine failure but they haven’t completed the full inspection yet. I have been using Uber and need a car rental because I can’t afford to sustain this huge inconvenience indefinitely. I’m the original owner of a 2016 Hyundai Tucson with 72,000 miles. I’ve recently encountered an issue where the front passenger side window is stuck down and won’t move. I’ve had it diagnosed at the dealership and found that this seems to be a common issue with this model year, related to the window regulator. I understand my vehicle is slightly out of the 5-year/60,000-mile warranty, however; this issue has made my car vulnerable to weather damage and theft, and it’s affecting my ability to use it safely. I’ve always maintained my vehicle according to Hyundai’s recommendations, and I believe this failure is premature for a part like this.

The fuel injection system has failed 3 times now causing the car to become slow/sluggish while driving (sudden slow down and lurching). This is a known issue with the car per [XXX] . Each time, the dealer has stated it's a known issue that's not covered by warranty or recall. Each time, the technician has stated that they are unsure why it hasn't been recalled given the prevalence of the issue and the risk of causing an accident. 9/11/24 the 2016 Hyundai Tucson had a knock in the engine, the car was towed to beaverton Hyundai for inspection and I was told that it was Rod Bearing failure that caused engine failure and that this was a known issue for Hyundais Theta II engines and it would be $18k repair. Hyundai just settled a billion dollar class action lawsuit for rod bearing failure where check engine and oil lights failed to illuminate. I asked for a PA to be submitted to Hyundai motors America, as suggested by my usual shop Dick’s Hillsboro Hyundai(whom didn’t have availability soon enough). The PA was denied stating “this is normal wear for a vehicle at 70k miles and it’s out of warranty.” This repair is not a cause my the consumer, but by a manufacturer defect. And I should not be expected to replace the engine at $15k after paying $20k 3 years ago when I bought the car. Hyundai is being negligent.
