What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The airbag system, brake system, and HVAC system (air conditioning and heating) appear to have malfunctioned. A dealer confirmed that the HVAC system is defective, identifying a broken evaporator assembly and a faulty temperature door actuator. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The airbag safety light raises concerns about whether the airbags will deploy during an accident. The brake light error creates uncertainty about the reliability of the brake system. Additionally, the defective HVAC system is a significant safety hazard. The heater’s failure prevents the windshield from defogging, impairing visibility, particularly in cold or wet weather. This poses a serious risk while driving, especially in freezing temperatures. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the HVAC system defect has been confirmed by a dealer, who provided images and recommended replacing the evaporator assembly and temperature door actuator. Independent mechanics have also observed the airbag and brake light errors but were unable to identify the underlying causes. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been inspected by independent mechanics and one dealership but has not been evaluated by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The airbag safety light and brake light errors have been present since I acquired the vehicle. The HVAC system began failing intermittently shortly thereafter, with the issue worsening over time. These unresolved issues continue to jeopardize the safety and reliability of the vehicle

2019 Tuscon with 70k miles.Engine failure, had to have vehicle towed to dealership. I have been without a vehicle for over a month and other than the dealership leaving me a message saying that my engine is seized, I have been completely ignored.

While driving on the highway, the check engine line came on and my Tucson started loosing power. I quickly moved into the right lane and was able to exit the highway and pulled over. I had previous issues with the vehicle and was told it was the 1 & 2 ignition coils that were replaced. I assumed it was the same issue for the 3 & 4 ignition coils. They were also replaced but the issue was not resolved and the vehicle was towed to a mechanic shop who stated there was a piece missing off one of the pistons and he couldn't determine how that could have occurred. At this point, he said my engine would need to be replaced and apparently they are back-ordered for 6 months. My daughters vehicle - 2019 Kona, was purchased at the same time and she also lost power in her engine while driving on the freeway. Fortunately she pulled off onto the should in a very dangerous situation. Her engine had a hole and later found out the 2019 Kona had an engine recall. I have heard there are issues with the 2019 Tucson, but no recall has been issued.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact stated that the oil level was extremely low. The contact added oil and stated that frequent oil changes were needed. There was no indication of an oil leak. While driving over a bridge, the vehicle failed to accelerate over 25 MPH. The check engine and oil warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V727000 (Engine). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that oil was being burned by the piston rings. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who performed an oil consumption test. The dealer informed the contact that there was an oil leak. The vehicle then failed to start. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

On [XXX], I purchased a 2016 Hyundai Tucson Sport, at the Landover-Jaguar South Hills dealer in Canonsburg, PA. On [XXX] the “check engine” light came on. Since I was 2 hours from home, I purchased a code reader to assess the issue. It read “A P0420 code”. I researched potential reasons for this code but returned the car to the dealer who performed additional checks and gave the car a “clean bill of health”. On [XXX], I was driving home from about 16 miles away and lost power. A slew of dash lights came on, and I was forced to pull over. I smelled something burning. As I stopped, the smoke from the engine became apparent. The car right behind me pulled up and asked if I knew my car was on fire. Another bystander pulled over and extinguished the fire in my engine. This happened on one of the busier roads in the area and if the vehicle exploded it could have been much worse for all of us. This vehicle is currently sitting at Bowser Hyundai in Pittsburgh and is available for inspection. This engine fire and fail is not a maintenance issue but is clearly a result of a manufacture issue. - #11629341December 6, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
I could not find an exact category check above, but this does sort of relate to cruise control. The Driver Attention Warning cannot be disabled even though there is an option to disable it. Turning it off has no affect. This is a warning that basically tells you to keep your eyes on the road. Sunglasses and regular eyeglasses can often cause it to create a warning. The system will then turn off cruise control if it's being used. According to several owners, this is common on newer model Hyundais and Hyundai either chooses not to or simply cannot fix this. My wife has notified Hyundai and is awaiting a response.

At the end of May 2024 my car was diagnosed with a faulty fuel injector that caused sputtering and problems accelerating. I was driving on a busy freeway when my car began to shake and sputter and lose power. A check engine light came on when the car first started to shake and sputter. I was able to pull off the freeway but, in an area, where I was unfamiliar. I was able contact family nearby who assisted me in driving the car slowly to a Hyundai dealership about 15 miles away. This happened on a holiday weekend and I had to get a rental car as the dealership was unable to service the car for several days. The dealership diagnosed the car as having a faulty fuel injector and a new fuel injector was installed. On December 5, my car again started sputtering and shaking and had problems accelerating. It needed to be towed to a Hyundai dealership about 50 miles away from my home. I am currently waiting for them to diagnose the problem.

On 10-11-24 the panoramic sunroof on our car exploded. We were driving at the time at approx 45mph, clear and 60° out, and we heard a loud bang and in looking around for the cause saw the sunroof looked like crackle glass. We closed the sunshade in case it fell on us, and within a minute it did just that. Had we not closed that shade we would have been showered with glass. We did not see any obstacles coming at us and there were no cars around close enough to throw up a rock. After calling our insurance company to start a claim I did some research online while waiting for the adjuster to call. I discovered the class action suit regarding the exploding sunroofs and realized that is what had just happened to us. I then spoke to Hyundai customer service and started an incident report. We were finally able to take the car to a dealer on 10-31-24 and requested the repair be covered under the limited warranty. They eventually agreed to repair it under warranty and we picked the car up on 11-29-24. We were without the use of it for 7 weeks. We knew we would never trust that it wouldn't happen again and that we would need to trade it in. We did just that 3 days later at a different dealership. Of course we lost money on the car. There were no prior warnings with any lights, noises, or anything. No other vehicles or people were involved and no police report or anything was made. Had we been going faster or on a multiple lane road, or had the glass fallen as soon as it exploded, I believe the shock and reaction would have ended in an accident and severe injury to us or others. Pictures are available but they were taken after we cleaned up the mess.

A recall caused my engine to fail, and needs replacing. it is i believe “campaign 966” They are claiming that i needed to have the system software updated PRIOR to the engine failing. they know that their recall is responsible for the engine failing, but they are trying to go around it by saying that it needed to be fixed before the engine gave out. They NEVER, not one time, reached out about this needing to be fixed. not by email, or regular mail. Nothing. i’m reading everywhere that they do this shady stuff constantly to people, and it is just not right. Thank you

The backup camera turns off without warning. Suv is low miles. Hyundai has a recall for this on other models. I'd like to see it extend over to the Tucson also.

The contact owned a 2019 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the Forward Collision Avoidance warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle automatically brake, independently without the brake pedal being depressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where several codes were illuminated and advised the contact to take vehicle to the local dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 16,803.

- #11628367December 2, 2024VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The 2025 Hyundai Tucson's Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system does not operate properly due to either a design flaw or a flawed implementation of the design. Hyundai's integration of Forward Attention Warning (FAW) with the ACC prohibits the driver from using ACC while wearing sunglasses. If one is driving the vehicle with ACC engaged and puts on sunglasses, the FAW flashes a warning on the dashboard and disengages the ACC. In order to engage cruise control the driver must interact with the onboard video display system to switch from ACC to "dumb cruise". Obviously the driver's attention is distracted while manipulating the selection of cruise control. The driver is also forced to compromise driving safety because they are forced to choose between wearing sunglasses and being able to use ACC. Use of ACC enhances safety especially when driving into the sun or in low visibility situations. The incompatibility of ACC with sunglasses wear then compromises safety. To make matters worse the FAW options screen provides erroneous information. It indicates that the driver can turn off FAW, but turning it off does not in fact turn it off. Turning it off stops the FAW warnings only until the driver turns on and engages ACC at which time ACC apparently forces FAW back on and active. I took the problem to my local Hyundai dealer who confirmed the problem and indicated they could not repair the problem. Since I am considering a Georgia Lemon Law claim, I asked whether I needed to bring the car back since the lemon law gives the dealer/manufacturer 3 tries to fix the problem. The dealer indicated that would be a waste of time because Hyundai will not support/allow the issue to be corrected. The dealer indicated this is a known issue. An Internet search also confirms that Hyundai's FAW + ACC integration is flawed. Additionally it is not clear whether other enhanced vehicle safety systems such as automatic emergency braking are compromised by the wearing of sunglasses?

The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the horn was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the horn needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact related the failure to TSB: 23-BE-008H (Horn Assembly); however, the VIN was not included in the TSB. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 68,412.

This is the 3rd time that my 2yr old Tuscon failed and had to be towed in a 4 month period. I was at a light and when it turned green, the vehicle barely moved when I pressed on the accelerator. I was only able to drive a few feet and pulled over and had to have it towed again. They are only replacing the fuel injectors as they fail!!

Under 40,000 took vehicle in to check because of hesitation when accelerating. They checked and could not duplicate issue so sent me on my way. Reached 70,000 and hesitation is worse. Getting and merging on highway, turning from stop, and feels like it’s going to stall when going up inclines. No incident yet just notifying maybe something wrong with other peoples.
