Fuel injectors failed while driving on parkway. Car lost power(would not go over 25mph) without notice. Not fun driving at 60mph then abrutly go to 25mph on left lane cars behind me nearly hit my car and could have caused a major pileup. There was no warning prior to losing power and check engine lights came on maybe 2 minutes later. Was able to get to right lane and exit parkway to a secure location to have car towed to dealership. Dealership replaced the fuel injectors.

The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at approximately 60 MPH, the light oil low light illuminated and gray smoke started coming out of the front end of the vehicle, underneath the hood of the vehicle, and from the rear of the vehicle. There was a burning odor coming from the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the side of the road to inspect the vehicle. The contact found no visible failures; however, while attempting to restart the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the drain plug had backed out and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed the contact that the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the failure might have happened during an oil change and the repair was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was 50,000.

The transmission in my vehicle failed while driving and the car completely shut off while driving. Less than 4 months after replacing the transmission with a brand new transmission, the engine failed while driving on the highway. The engine started sputtering, then it started smoking, then the car stalled.

Greetings, I have had issues with the Hyundai Tucson 2017 I own for many months. Issues include among others an abnormal knocking noise from the engine, reduced engine power and/or hesitation, burning smell, oil leaking, and smoke coming out of the engine, misfires, and other issues. It happened many times on the highway and almost caused accidents and the last time it happened, the vehicle was towed, and recently the smoke coming from the engine forced me to pull over. I reported the issue to the dealer but they didn't recall or address the issue. The car has been maintained properly over time and now I fear for my life. It is totally unfair that about 100k of this brand have been recalled for the same issue, in my case it is just after I finished to pay in full the vehicle. I seek your support to have it addressed for safety

Purchased a brand new 2022 tucson. Within 2 months it went to the dealer with about 7 dash fault lights turning on (abs, Air bag, lane assist, check engine, just to name a few) and breaks engage on their own. Stayed at the dealership for over 2 months while they had the Hyundai engineers try to figure out the issue. They gave it back to me and said it was a connector in the rear door. The vehicle has been back 4 times for the same exact issues for months at a time and they keep experimenting and giving it back to me. I tried to get it exchanged for a safer one and they denied my request. I guess my families safety isn't that important to hyundai after all.

While driving the car felt like it was going to shutoff multiple times. It had been experiencing an unusually high consumption of oil since it's last oil change. It would also tend to surge and excelarate unexpectedly while driving. The check engine light came on only once and then shut off. The car is currently at the Hyundai dealer. The service person says we need a new engine. These incidents happend while I and my wife were driving in separate incidents at different days and times. I was with my family and had to apply the brakes lest we run into cars in front of me when it surged unexpectedly.

- #11635329January 10, 2025EXTERIOR LIGHTING
In the beginning of December 2024, the low headlight warning light started coming on for the right light, intermittently. I took the car to the dealership to get the light fixed, I was told there were some loose wires and they fixed it. 2 weeks later it started happening again, I returned with the car and got another appointment, before the appointment date, the left low headlight warning light came on. I returned with the car and was told that the harnesses and wiring are damaged and need replacing. I have had the drivers side light replaced on 2/26/21 and was back on 4/16/2021. The passenger side light has been replaced on 11/10/2022 and 9/21/23 all been preformed at the Towne Hyundai in Denville NJ.

Engine failure will be caused by shrapnel in the engine (Dealer told me Hyundai is aware it was not vacuumed out properly in this particular batch of engines) leading to ruts being warn in the cylinder causing oil to leak past piston rings. Loses so much oil quickly. Extended warranty may deny due to 3 missed air filter changes

I purchased a brand new 2025 Hyundai Tuscan and with 984 miles I had an issue which first started when reversing the SUV into my garage. December 9th: When first starting the vehicle, all warning lights came on the dash. The ABS stating an issue with the braking system. I experienced a dead pedal and no power steering. After restarting the car all the lights went off and the car returned to normal. Code: DTC C165686 and DTC C162587 December 10th Error: Check driver assistance system While driving the vehicle which had no errors on start, the error came up again but this time power steering was available and the brake pedal appeared to be working. Originally, the Hyundai dealer would not be able to assist until the following week but after calling them and expressing safety concerns they immediately took the car and put me in a loaner. Code: DTC C165686 and DTC C162587 It’s Jan 3 2025 and the vehicle has been waiting for a replacement hybrid battery. The manufacturer told the dealership weeks ago that the error is due to a bad hybrid battery.

- #11633796January 3, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
While driving in a 70 mph speed zone on [XXX] , I tried to engage the cruise control but it would not activate. After repeated tries i finally was able to get a response and the cruise control engaged but only for about 15 seconds then warnings saying I was not paying attention to the road flashed on the windshield monitor along with check engine light, followed by vehicle slowing. I turned off the cruise control and was able to resume control of the car. This happened twice within 15 minutes so I gave up trying to use the cruise control. I wear progressive prescription transition eyeglasses which turn gray upon contact with sunlight. It was a bright sunny day when this event took place. I bought the car Dec 4 2024. When I contacted the dealers service department, they said the nearest appointment was not until February and they might need the car for up to two weeks to determine the problem. I went online and found that other owners had been complaining about this since April claiming that sunglasses were a problem for the radar camera used in this system. One driver put black tape over the camera to stop the problem. One driver switched sun glass makes and was able to use the system. Another driver adjusted the steering column to solve the problem, but all of these are work arounds for a defective design. You can locate these other complaints by searching "adaptive cruise control problems of Hyundai Tucson" complaints go beyond April 2023. I took my vehicle to my mechanic for inspection check up. My mechanic told me and supplied paperwork from their scans that the P0420 sensor in the cat converter was shot again (3x in 5 years) and needed to be replaced. The engine light had come on 3 weeks beforehand and I had it read and knew what it was. They sent me to Hyundai dealer as it was under warranty with documentation. I get to Hyundai dealer tell them it needs the sensor for inspection and an investigation for oil leaking from back of the engine. I also told them I was adding 2-3 quarts of oil between oil changes. They told me my mechanic over filled oil by .5 quarts and that's why the engine leaked. They investigated after I disputed by saying an oil change had been performed the day I brought it to them and found a bad head gasket, fuel pump seal, and oil pan seal. They charged my extended warranty for those repairs, shut off engine light for cat converter sensor without replacing it, and made me do an oil consumption test of 1000 miles. Car was still not inspected at this point. After 35 miles check engine light comes back on. Cat converter sensor P0420. I take it back in. They tell me they won't replace it until the oil consumption test is done because they need to know if oil is coming through the exhaust pipes (it was). I complete the test and go in. They tell me engine is burning .5 quarts of oil/1000 miles which is acceptable and as long as I complete oil changes every 5000 miles I will be fine. They then tell me if I want sensor replaced I'm 800 miles over warranty so I have to pay $2400 to replace. Called corporate they're only willing to cover half the repair as "good will" for the cat converter and was quoted $1300 by the dealer in question. Almost a month and still not fixed and still can't get car inspected because the check engine light is tripped by the P0420 sensor in the cat converter. It's the only vehicle my family has. I'm forced to pay to have transportation.

There is an intermittent problem with the transmission. It’s impossible to predict when the transmission will slip. When navigating traffic, it has happened multiple times trying to pull out across oncoming traffic, and the transmission begins slipping so badly in a couple of instances nearly causing a side impact. There are no recalls related to this, but the dealership confirms it is common… the fact that it is intermittent makes it worse. You get used to the transmission performing as it should… Next thing you know it slips when you can’t afford for it to slip..
