The power steering of the vehicle suddenly stopped working. We had the car towed, and after inspection we were told that the steering column had failed. We were expected to purchase a new original part from Hyundai, which we did. After waiting a week, we were told that the replacement that was sent did not work and was defective. This has happened again and again, and we are currently waiting for our 4th part from Hyundai. Hyundai corporate told our auto shop that they "opened a case" to see why these parts are defective. I'm hoping that they eventually get to the bottom of this and can fix our Tuscan. We were lucky that our steering column failed on the driveway at our home, but I would imagine it could case quite a bad accident if power steering went out suddenly on someone else.

The regulators and motors for the automatic windows have failed. The windows do not remain in the closed position causing the window to slide open. The front passenger window motor failed first and the driver's window failed shortly after. Both regulators and motors were replaced by the dealer in April 2024. The back passenger side window failed in December 2024 and has not been replaced. If needed, the faulty mechanism could be provided for inspection. Failure of the closing mechanism for the windows means they can easily be opened from outside. A malicious person could break into the vehicle simply by sliding the window down. To my knowledge, no one has inspected the regulators or motors. Two other 2016 Hyundai Tucson owners I know have also had their window regulators and motors replaced. There was no warning to the automatic window failure.

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving 35-45 MPH, the vehicle shut off unexpectedly. There was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate while driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the rod bearing and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Hyundai of Orange Park (7600 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32244); who determined that the coils needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the coils and determined the failure was due to the engine. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 124,500.

1)Component that failed: Engine 2)Driving 75 miles on the interstate in traffic and suddenly losing speed was very dangerous. 3)Yes, the issue is still occurring, even worse now as my vehicle shakes just starting the engine. 4) The mechanic has inspected, diagnosed and attempted to repair. However due to the condition of the engine, and the cost of replacing it; fixing may not be an option. 5)The engine light began flashing and then went off; then back to steady on. I purchased this 2017 Hyundai Tucson used just 4 years ago. Everything seemed to be working just fine, I've had regular oil changes. On Saturday, May 10, 2025, as I was driving on the Interstate with my cruise control set, I began to lose power and my speed slowed. I took my car off of cruise control and pushed on the gas pedal to gain speed and my car started to shake and it struggled to pick up speed. My mechanic has changed the spark plugs and performed a BG upper engine induction cleaning; did compression testing and leak down testing. He found that cylinder 4 has no compression. In addition to that, he noticed there was oil on the spark plug. I had my oil changed 3 months ago, and less than 3,000 miles - my engine is burning up the oil to the point where the oil level is extremely low. I have now found out that this is a known issue with this type of vehicle. I'm told it's $10,000 to replace the engine. I have no warranty coverage since I'm not the original owner. I was not aware of the class action lawsuit that was settled last year. I'm extremely upset that Hyundai has not recalled ALL the engines for this make and model of vehicle as it seems EVERYONE has had engine problems.

I purchased a 2014 Hyundai Tucson with the 2.4L Theta II engine, which has since experienced complete engine failure due to bearing wear. The Hyundai dealership diagnosed this as the same defect covered under Recall 20V-520 and the Kinnick & Coats v. Hyundai class-action settlement (Case No. 8:17-cv-00838-JLS-JDE). Under the terms of that class action, this defect — specifically premature bearing wear leading to engine seizure — should be covered. However, Hyundai Corporate denied my repair, stating that my vehicle did not qualify under the 953 recall. I was never notified of this recall, as I had recently purchased the vehicle used and was unaware of the outstanding recall eligibility or class-action timelines. I maintain my vehicles meticulously, including regular oil changes every 3,000 miles, and this failure occurred under normal driving conditions. Given that the dealership confirmed the defect is exactly what’s outlined in the recall and lawsuit, and the fact that the recall should have applied to my engine based on symptoms and model, I am requesting an expansion of recall coverage or support through warranty or settlement coverage. I have already contacted Hyundai and was denied support. I am requesting investigation into why my VIN is not included and believe the recall scope should be extended.

My 2016 tuscon has been giving be problems. I went to the dealership awhile back and told them that the oil has been burning having and that there's a perk when I start my car. They did an oil change and told me that I needed to lube the gears up first before running it. I assumed it was because my warranty was ending and because I was a girl, that was a quick go away problem. Well eastward today. I put oil in the engine at least once a week or more. The car is in the shop, and the machanics at pep boys are saying this is a reoccurring problem for this type of car. Also that all 2016 are made with the same engine pretty much so they should all be recalled. They quoted me 10 grand for a used engine. I'm taking it to hyundai, the pep boys told me that it's the same issues as the other recalls

The oil sensor doesn't illuminate the light on the dash when the oil level becomes low. The only warning is when it becomes really low and then the check engine light will appear. It's a safety concern due to the engine possible failure and or damage may occur at that point if continuing driving happens. This causing the engine to stall and loss of control of the vehicle. Which could lead to a vehicle crash resulting in injury or death to the occupants and or others nearby.

Turn signals way too low in rear of car. Hard to see by others that are close. When have. Bike rack on, it blocks turn signals. Hyundai needs to add turn signals to upper rear brake lights.

- #11660049May 9, 2025AIR BAGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
My wife and I purchased a 2024 Hyundai Tucson in June. Since February 28, 2025 the SRS indicator lights have come on twice. Hyundai replaced the airbag twice. In March, the emergency brake system red lights illuminated, and the car came to an abrupt stop. Luckily, there were no Cars behind me. Seconds later, the car resumed, and the lights disappeared. Hyundai dealership took the car in and returned it in two hours noting they could not duplicate. Several days ago, the same thing happened with the emergency brake system. Driving at approximately 40 mph the car slammed on brakes and the dash illuminated again. No cars behind me. The dealership returned the car once again, noting they could not duplicate. The car has less than 8000 miles. I won’t allow my wife to drive more than 10 miles alone. It’s unsafe. The manual states the car is not to be driven with any of the sys indicators on and to do so would cause serious injury or damage to the car. I will send attachments of invoices, NHTSA complaints and Hyundai manual info about unsafe condition.

The Driver Attention Warning system goes off very often - every 10-15 minutes. The warning is startling and makes one take their eyes off the road to ascertain the cause of the warning. There is no voice message - just a series of beeps. According to the dealer the DAW cannot be disabled by the owner.

When sitting at a stop and then accelerating to leave the stop position, the car will go and then all of a sudden it will stall out and I'm pressing the gas pedal, pressing the gas pedal quite a few times before the car even decides to move. This happens when I'm changing lanes on the highway... merging onto the highway... when I'm leaving from a stop sign or a stoplight it happens continuously. It is very dangerous and it can cause a very bad accident....this has been an issue since I had bought the car 3 years ago...it seems to be happening more frequent

The vehicle (a NEW 2025 Hyundai Tuscon) suffered a Shifter System Malfunction. A message came up on the electronic dashboard "Shifter System Malfunction - Service Immediately" and the car was immobile. It could not be moved (it was stuck in reverse) nor could it be shifted into neutral to be pushed out of the roadway. THIS WAS AN IMMEDIATE HAZARD. The car needed to be towed to the dealer. Base on internet search, this is a KNOWN and not infrequent issue on Hyundai drive by wire (electronic shifting) vehicles. My car and I were in imminent danger because the car was not mobile. I had just backed out of a driveway and was STUCK in the middle of the road. I am asking that NHTSA investigate this issue and if warranted require HYUNDAI to recall their vehicles to repair and/or replace the shift by wire system that is subject to such unexpected failure that puts vehicles and drivers at risk.

On [XXX], my husband and I were driving on [XXX] (Highway) in the slow lane, when the engine shutoff without any Service engine light warning. It was frightening because an tractor trailer was directly behind the car as we lost power. There was no sounds of engine parts knocking or pinging when the problem occurred. The only thing was observed was (two) 2 puffs of smoke seen from the tailpipe, witnessed by my son who was following behind in his vehicle. The vehicle was not able to start after shutdown and had to be towed to my home. We purchased a new battery after assuming battery failure--with no resolve. The vehicle was towed to(two) 2 repair shops with the same conclusion: Seized Engine After checking Open Recalls on my vehicle, I contacted Hyundai to check for assistance. The vehicle is now at the Hyundai dealership in McDonough, Georgia for inspection. I am thankful that my husband and I were not injured or laying in a Morgue after this frighten ordeal on the highway when the Engine suddenly shutoff/Seized. - #11659479May 7, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
This relates to an Intermittent Braking Anomaly that started occurring within 1 year of this Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Ltd. purchased "New" in Aug. 2022. The 1st Service Invoices (Jun23 & Dec23) only reflected "Customer Requests Complimentary Maintenance Plan Tire Rotation," but did not reflect the braking anomaly; eventhough the braking anomaly was discussed with the Service Advisor at those times. There have been at least 7 Service Appointments that this braking anomaly was identified by the vehicle Owners to the Service Advisor. This has been, and is, an intermittent anomaly/problem that occurs most often when slowing down to stop, and especially when going downhill. There is a very noticeable "Shaking/Shuddering/Pulsating" recognized by the Driver, and when present, Passenger(s) also. On average, this occurs 1x/week , and inconsistent. One time it started pulling left towards oncoming traffic. Another time it was violent shaking, and almost unable to stop at stop sign. The Dealership 1st attempted to repair this by refacing front rotors in 2024. This did not fix the anomaly. In Dec 2024, returned to the Dealership, and a Tech. was able to duplicate the braking anomaly. With that, they then replaced both Front Rotors (51712-L1100 Disk) and Brake Pads (58101-P0A011 Pad Kit) in Jan. 2025. The braking anomaly continued later that very same day the Front Rotors and Brake Pads were replaced! Returned to the Dealership the next day and discussed this braking anomaly with the Service Mgr., and He and the Service Advisor drove it for about 15 minutes but were not able to duplicate the intermittent braking anomaly. Both Service Mgr. and Sales Mgr. suggested to buy new vehicle. Returned to Dealership in Feb. 2025 for about 2 weeks for them to again evaluate. They were unable to duplicate the braking issue after several test drives and multiple individuals driving. This anomaly continues and neither Hyundai Corp. nor Dealership will do anything else to solve this anomaly.

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at approximately 15 MPH, the vehicle stalled and shuddered. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle remained at the residence. A dealer was contacted and made the contact aware of an unknown NHTSA Campaign Number; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
