It is my belief that the engine is failing or has something wrong, due to an engine recall. I started having issues with acceleration and took it to a local mechanic who advised it was an engine issue and needed to be taken to the Hyundai dealer asap. As of today, May 27, 2025, it was taken to Autonation Hyundai in Columbia, SC who is alleging that all engine recalls related to my vehicle are not covering any engine issues. I have had this car for quite a while and have never had any issues until now. Multiple diagnostics have been performed.

While starting and accelerating my 2018 Hyundai Tucson, I began hearing abnormal engine knocking and noticed rough performance. I took the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership, where they diagnosed an internal engine defect. They confirmed the engine issue but refused to cover the repair, citing that I’m not the original owner—despite public information stating that Hyundai’s extended engine defect warranty (related to known bearing failures) applies to all owners for up to 15 years/150,000 miles. This creates a major safety concern, as I drive long distances on highways daily and fear the engine may seize or fail at high speeds. The vehicle remains at the dealership and is currently undrivable. I’ve submitted proper maintenance records, and the issue has been escalated through Hyundai Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau. This appears to be a widely reported engine defect that Hyundai is not consistently addressing. The lack of coverage and delay in resolution places drivers at unnecessary risk.

While driving home on the freeway in stop-go traffic, the check engine light suddenly came on. At idle and low speed, the engine ran very rough with lots of vibration and acceleration became difficult. I got off the freeway as soon as possible to take surface streets as I felt unsafe continuing to drive on the freeway. The car continued to vibrate significantly. This happened very close to home and I was able to get home but slowly. When the car cooled down I checked the fluid levels - oil was fine and clear but coolant level was low despite a recent service where a coolant flush was performed and the coolant level was at the minimum level indicated by the reservoir. The dealer performed a test and the fuel injector unit for cylinder 3 failed. Apparently there is no observable coolant leak. The car is now awaiting repair under warranty, but the part is not available for 8 weeks. The dealer intends to replace the failed injector when the part arrives.

Fuel injector failure. Vehicle misfired at startup. When attempting to accelerate, vehicle was hesitating and couldn’t. Towed to dealer and they were able to recreate the issue and place code reader on vehicle to find injector problem. Dealer states that Hyundai is revamping all fuel injectors, not just replacing with current supply on faulty injectors. Car will be at dealer for unknown period of time due to nationwide parts supply shortage

- #11662731May 23, 2025HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM
The contact owns a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. In addition, the contact stated that the hybrid system failure warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had persisted. The contact drove the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway and turned off the vehicle. The contact stated the vehicle remained parked for twenty minutes before the vehicle was restarted, and the hybrid system independently reset. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that previously the vehicle was taken to the dealer, however the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was provided with a monetary offer because of the inconvenience. The failure mileage was approximately 5,966.

- #11662863May 23, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, SERVICE BRAKES
On 2 separate occasions, the forward collision warning system activated. On both occasions I was under control of the vehicle with my foot on the brake approaching a vehicle that had slowed while entering into a round about...I was approximately 10 feet from the car in front going about 6 mph. All of a sudden several warning indicators activated (audible and visual) and then out of nowhere, all four wheels locked and my car came to a skidding/juddering stop. I immediately looked in rear view mirror fearing I was going to get rear-ended. The vehicle in front proceeded to move on and I tried to get myself together and get moving. I was shocked that this had happened as it was totally unnecessary. I was completely in control of the vehicle prior to the activation.

I wasn’t even allowed to select all the issues I’ve had with this vehicle since day of purchase three years ago June, and upon picking up the car I have had issues. My leather seats have bubbled up. My car will not merge. It will suddenly accelerate my car drops down in the middle of the road. My moonroof opens on its own. My car windows were randomly roll down on its own. My car breaks itself. My car emergency brake won’t unhook my car. Every single light is now on it. They have attempted to fix numerous times and my life has been put in jeopardy and my child’s life numerous times. No one can fix this issue. I am now told her I will have to wait three weeks for a rental because everyone’s backed up in diagnosing these cars. This car is going to kill me in my child and is a safety hazard. It does this stuff with lights on and without and it’s random and no warning my EV warning has come on my brake system. Warning has come on my car has been unable to stop and coasted and suddenly was able to then stop.

In Dec. 2023 my car stopped dead in the middle of the road. After being towed to ABC Hyundai in las Vegas they had to replace a fuel injector and I was told it could occur again On [XXX] the car began sputtering and shaking. When I bought it in I was told it was the fuel injector. I was told that Hyundai no longer changes just the one injector as they did before but now Hyundai has a complete kit. There was none at the dealership so it was ordered on Sat May 17 and told it would be in on Tues May20 but now I'm told it's back ordered. They are supposed to give a loaner but non available. I cannot be without a car as I live alone and need a car. I called corporate customer service today May 22 but the won't get back to me for several days. I was told by dealer service to rent a car and I would get reimbursed but corporate said that it would be at my discretion. My car has 14700 miles INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6

Driving on the freeway on 5/18/2025 my sunroof completely shattered. I was going about 70 mph and the sunroof was closed. It was not a hot day, approx. 73 degrees. The noise was so loud, as if a gun shot went off next to me. Nothing hit it, nothing around us, nothing was hit on my part. As a matter of fact I was driving in the toll lanes so really no other cars were around me. It came out of nowhere. I called the local Hyundai dealer and drove straight there. This was on a Sunday afternoon. Monday morning the service dept called and said it would be a few days before they have any answers. On Tuesday 5/20/25 the service guy called back with answers saying they have no idea why it happened, they will not cover it, something must have hit it and it will be $4000-$8500 and take 3-4 weeks to fix. He suggests I call my insurance company to file a claim! My car is a 2022 Hyundai Tuscan limited with 43,000 miles, I purchased it brand new and have used my sunroof maybe a hand full of times. As you can see in the photo the glass blew out, NOT in, so nothing hit it to cause this to happen.

- #11662022May 20, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
The Driver Attention Warning is a dangerous feature that can't be turned off. It is constantly going off requiring that I take my eyes off the road to see why it chimed. I am a Disabled Veteran with an eye condition that requires me to wear very dark glasses in bright sunlight. The car is not drivable with my glasses on as the camera can't see my eyes. I was almost involved in a serious accident on I459. As I drove between an 18 wheeler and another SUV a red light on the dash and a message flashed that stated "Regain control of the car". The system slammed on the brakes which caused the car behind me to almost hit me at 70mph. This occurred in heavy traffic at approximately 8:30 AM. I almost lost control of my SUV.

There is an excessive engine oil consumption on the 1.6L turbo charged motor. Motor oil is completely depleted between recommended oil changes. It is a necessary to add roughly 1qt of oil per 1,000 miles driven, between oil changes, in order to maintain safe oil levels. No signs of leakage, therefore oil is burning at an unsafe rate.

The automatic braking has almost caused me to be rear-ended, and the enraged driver behind me Leaned on his horn and flipped me off. Today, it caused a rear-end collision behind me because of the unwarranted abrupt locking of the brakes. I drove to the dealership and had them turn off this safety feature. It's VERY dangerous!

At only 35k miles. Check engine display with heavy vibration due to misfire faulty fuel injectors. Repair took one month. Seems like Hyundai is not taking any action for this common safty issue.

No less than 6 times since leasing this vehicle the forward collision warning / automatic emergency braking has activated when it was not required as slow speed with vehicles behind me almost rear ending me. It is to the point where i no longer have confidence in using these systems and deactivate them when turning the car on. I have set the sensitivity to "Late" to decrease the incidence of this happening, to no avail. I am not the only complaint about this. This vehicle is not safe to use with this feature and should be investigated and a recall issued. Vehicle is going in for service on 5/29 for this issue.

In February of 2025, my oil lamp warning light came on. My husband checked the oil dipstick and noticed that it didn't have any oil on it. There was a visible burn mark as well. I called my local Hyundai dealer to schedule an appointment to see why my car was burning oil like that as it was not due for an oil change. The appointment was made for February 20, 2025. My car at that time had 79,803 miles on it. The Hyundai dealer suggested performing an engine combustion cleaning service, per Hyundai, to see if it would "fix" the problem. They also went ahead and did an oil change. After these services were done, I was told to bring the car back in after 1,000 miles. Hyundai's guidelines are that they allow 1 quart of oil loss per every 1,000 miles. I brought the car back to the Hyundai dealer after 1,000 miles and that was in April of 2025. I was told that my vehicle passed the inspection. The oil level on the dipstick was in the "normal range." After a few weeks, my husband checked the oil level again just to make sure the engine wasn't burning any additional oil since we were not convinced that the engine combustion cleaning service solved the problem. He checked it on May 11, 2025. The dipstick showed that it was below the L. I called the Hyundai dealer once again, and they were able to get me in on Tuesday, May 13th. My mileage was 81,792 on the day I brought it back in. They confirmed that it had burned over 2 quarts of oil in less than 2,000 miles. That is more oil consumption than Hyundai "allows" per their 1 quart of oil for every 1,000 miles rule. The dealer put in a request to Hyundai for a new engine replacement and I was denied due to my vehicle having no warranty.

- #11661987May 19, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
The forward attention warning system uses a camera on the steering column. It goes off constantly while wearing my required glasses. Hyundai nor the dealership will turn off the sensor. There are over 10,000 complaints for this issue and Hyundai will not correct the issue. The system will automatically adjust the speed and brake in the vehicle without the driver. I almost had a wreck yesterday when it shut the car down when the camera couldn’t see my eyeballs while wearing my glasses. Something needs to be done. I’m thinking of filing a lawsuit against Hyundai as a class action. Please advise if you have any suggestions. Thank you

This vehicle has a camera facing the driver mounted on the steering column. If it can't see your eyes clearly it starts sending warnings about pulling over and resting, it shuts down cruise control, doesn't allow it function. Shutting down cruise control at Interstate speeds without the driver expecting it could cause an accident or worse. This camera not functioning correctly for one of the 16 possible reasons listed in the manual is unacceptable. It should have an OFF switch or be removed completely... I was driving my car and the engine started knocking and when I stopped the car kept stalling and losing power especially going up a hill. I had oil in the car. I bought the car to a repair shop and the mechanic advised me to go to Hyundai because they’re having problems with the engines in the Tucsons. I found out they extended the warranty from 100k to 150k so I’m covered I thought. They started diagnosing my car and they said the engine needs to be replaced. They contacted Hyundai corporate to dis cuss this. Corporate said they’re no t responsible for this because there was sludge in the engine. The car has 103k miles on it. The diagnosis charge I owe so far is about 400.00 Hyundai corporate wants further diagnosing of the engine. The dealership said Hyundai corporate said I have to pay the additional diagnostic charges of approximately 900.00 before they’ll determine the outcome of my claim. I don’t think it’s fair at all. I believe they should be paying for information they’re requesting. I’m having a hard time with Hyundai corporate with this runaround they’re giving me. I do t l ow what else to do? I can’t afford to pay for an engine replacement that they should be responsible for this problem. I hope I’ve proved enough information. Thank you sincerely.
