Subject: Ongoing Electrical and Safety Issues with 2025 Hyundai Tucson Limited Complaint Description: I am reporting a recurring and serious safety issue with my 2025 Hyundai Tucson Limited. I am the original owner and purchased the vehicle brand new, directly off the truck. It has now been to the dealership four separate times for the same persistent “Check User Authentication” electrical issue. Most recently, the driver display screen went completely blank while driving and flashed a green “No Signal” warning. This made it impossible to see speed, warning indicators, fuel level, or other critical driving information. Losing all visibility of this data while in motion is extremely dangerous and creates a serious safety risk. The dealership first said it was caused by loose coax cables from the factory, but the problem continues. I also experienced a sudden, complete electrical failure while driving. The instrument cluster and infotainment shut off, speakers went dead, and all charging ports lost power. The Head-Up Display (HUD) also failed during this same event. Restarting the car temporarily restored function, but the failure happened randomly and without explanation. The air conditioning system now loses power and restarts while driving. The dealership has had the vehicle for over a month with no resolution. Hyundai corporate is involved with multiple case numbers, but no permanent fix has been found. The most alarming event was when every major dash warning light came on at once: ABS, Power Steering, Traction Control, Stability Control, AFS, EPB, and Battery. These lights stayed on even after shutting off the vehicle and fully drained the battery. These repeated failures pose a serious threat to driver and passenger safety. I request that NHTSA investigate these issues, as they may affect more 2025 Tucson models.

What component failed: forward attention warning / highway drive assist Safety at risk: Hyundai's driver attention camera fails for me when I wear prescription eyeglasses while it is sunny out. Without prescription glasses, I cannot drive safely. Further, repeated driver attention alerts cause the car to autonomously stop, which is a safety risk Problem reproduced: yes, Hyundai says this is operating as designed and I should get other eyewear (despite me needing them to drive) Vehicle inspected: yes, by Hyundai service technician Warning messages: "keep your eyes on the road", even when I am fully paying attention to the road

My 2018 Hyundai Tucson 2.0L GDI engine with only 79,000 miles was "knocking" and wouldn't accelerate. We pulled over and towed the vehicle to the local Hyundai Dealer who declared "oil level good but failed bearing clearance test". Diagnosed with a rod and bearing failure. They submitted to Hyundai Motor Warranty the vehicle needed new engine. They declined. I know this is covered under the Hyundai Engine 2 Class action lawsuit with the extended 15 year/150,000 mile warranty as a result of the catastrophic engine failures. I have all oil change service records for every 5,000-6,000 miles while I was the second owner, as well as, have obtained another from the dealer who bought it from a rental/lease company starting at 14,000 miles. Hyundai Corporate is claiming "exceptional maintenance neglect" because of one missing oil change record from the rental company that I may not be able to obtain as the paper trail for the rental car company only states first owner was rental/fleet

The engine blew. It had to be replaced at my costs because hyduadai does not warrant when a car changes hands. It has 81250 in miles. This is happening to lots of people. It’s a 1.6 L engine. The 2.0 has a recall. But the 1.6 needs to be recalled also. Something needs to be done.

- #11674543July 18, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
On two different occasions (the 2nd one happened today), the automatic emergency braking system has deployed. The first time, I was in the right lane and a car passing me in the left lane pulled in front of me. I softly applied my brakes as that was all that was required. The automatic braking system then slammed on the brakes unnecessarily - causing the car behind me to almost hit me. Then, today, I was driving down the road and the car ahead was taking a right turn. Again, I softly applied the brakes. Then - the automatic braking system slammed on the brakes. No one else was near by so it there was no accident - but if there had been a car behind me, it would have likely hit me. This is twice that the automatic braking system was activated unnecessarily and much too hard - almost causing an accident.

I wear prescription glasses which transitions to darker shades, and while driving 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Ltd in driver assist mode (Smart Cruise control) the vehicle is warns me with some message to stop the car and then deactivates the cruise control... Because of this it is becoming very problematic to use the driver assist features. Is there a way that the sensors that keeps an eye on my eyes when use the glasses be disabled but still I can use the Smart Cruise control? I do not see this eye attention feature is of any use and is not helping people like me who wear prescription glasses which transitions to darker shades during day time.

The car keeps loosing power when it is over 90 degrees outside. On my way to work in the morning it has plenty of power but on my way home around 5 or 6 PM it struggles to gain speed. I’ve already had all the fuel injectors replaced so I don’t think it is related to that. It mainly happens when I slow down but not to a full stop around 20 MPH. Then it struggles to accelerate after that.

- #11674337July 17, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, ENGINE
On June 30, 2025, I was driving at about 55 mph with the smart cruise on. A message appeared on the left side of the dash (in the left circular screen) that said “Conditions for smart cruise have not been met”. And the cruise turned off, Then a second message appeared that said the engine has been put on idle. At that time I tried to use the gas pedal and got no response. Fortunately I was near a parking lot on my left and had enough momentum to pull in and park. I turned the Tucson off and restarted it and was able to continue to drive. I took the Tucson to the dealer and they tried to duplicate the issue, but were unable to do so. Then the ran a diagnostic, but said it indicated everything came back as normal. I purchased this Tucson Limited hybrid on 1/23/2025 so the fact that the dealer couldn’t duplicate the incident didn’t surprise me. I believe that this was caused by a software problem even though the diagnosis by the dealer indicated everything was normal and in range. However, I believe that their equipment and/or their technical expertise was insufficient to identify the problem. You can imagine the danger if this occurs on an interstate or other highway where speeds are as high as 65 to 70 & higher by some drivers.

-Power window failures of all 4 windows. -Windows will not open and close which creates a safety issue in case of an accident that renders the doors inoperable and escape is needed via windows. Also, if the driver is pulled over, the car windows do not work which makes the driver have to open the door which puts both the driver and police officer at risk. -Both a dealer service center and an independent service center has confirmed the problem. -Component was inspected by both a dealer maintenance shop and an independent repair shop. -There were no warnings.

Me and my daughter were headed back home from a family trip and we were stranded on the side of the road luckily we had family tailing us!! My engine light came on while we were still in the city in Savannah so we stopped by an autozone and changed the spark plugs so the engine light stopped blinking but when we got about 20 miles from home it stopped going we had to pull over it started smoking and it was really hot but the temperature had never moved we had it towed home!! I keep my maintenance up regularly on my car I had 2 mechanics check it out they both said the piston is breaking the spark plugs and it’s something down in the motor that’s doing it I should not have any motor issues at all with my car!! Especially when I do my part at keeping it up I was quoted 7,738 to fix my car which I don’t have both mechanics said the engine in those cars are no good and it’s been recalls on them just not my model it’s not right I’m out of a car and no way to work or no way for my kids to get around they have to ride in Lyfts and Ubers with strangers I feel like my car should be fixed because I did my part at keeping it up and I’m still out of car and frustrated due to the companies negligence!!

VIN: [XXX] Component Failed: Panoramic Sunroof Type of Failure: Spontaneous Explosion/Rupture from the Inside Occurred: Saturday [XXX] at [XXX] Road Conditions: Smooth Road, Clear Day (No Rain or Hail), Temperature mid 80’s degrees Fahrenheit, No Other Cars on Road. Milage on Car: 19640 Initial Event: Driving on the road when passengers hear what sounded like a gunshot (no firearms present in the vehicle). Pulled over to the side of the road to check tires. Tires were okay but noticed the sunroof had spontaneously shattered. Initial Event Photo Indicates Rupture occurred from the inside of the vehicle and not an external force, but there was no access from the inside of the vehicle as the additional fabric roof prevented shrapnel from entering the vehicle. The glass continued to crumble as the driver returned the vehicle to the house for safety concerns. Patterson Hyundai dealer in Tyler, Texas, tried to submit warranty claim and subsequent appeal, but Manufacturer refuses to own manufacture defect. Drivers contacted glass repair companies in the area, and companies explained they had seen this occur several times before. Evidence: Initial Event Photo Indicates Rupture occurred from the inside of the vehicle and not an external force. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owned a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that his wife was reversing out of the work parking space, the brake pedal was depressed, and when the gear shift was shifted into drive(D), the vehicle then accelerated independently. The contact stated that the engine revved, hit a parked vehicle, bounced off that vehicle, and continued to accelerate independently, abruptly veered the steering wheel to the left to avoid hitting a tree. The contact's vehicle then hit a second parked vehicle, where it came to a stop. No warning lights were illuminated, and none of the warning alarms sounded. The driver’s and passenger’s side air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries sustained. The insurance company was notified and towed the vehicle to a collision center. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,000.

The engine in my 2017 Hyundai Tucson Limited failed at approximately 111,000 miles. The vehicle began to run roughly, misfiring and losing power with no warning lights or prior indication of an issue. Within days, the vehicle became undriveable and had to be towed to a dealership. The dealership diagnosed the issue as a cylinder misfire due to internal engine damage caused by excessive oil consumption. They confirmed the only solution was a full engine replacement. I was told this issue is not currently covered by recall, despite its similarity to known engine defects Hyundai has recalled in other vehicles. This failure posed a serious safety risk. The vehicle stalled and lost power while driving, making it dangerous to accelerate or keep pace with traffic. Fortunately, the failure did not cause an accident in my case, but it easily could have in different circumstances. There were no dashboard warning lights, oil pressure warnings, or check engine indicators before the symptoms began. The oil level had not been excessively low, and the car had been well maintained. I have opened a case with the manufacturer, but assistance was denied due to mileage and ownership history. This appears to be part of a broader pattern of engine failure in similar Hyundai models. I am reporting this in hopes it contributes to further investigation and potential recall expansion.

While driving, my entire dashboard lit up with every warning sound and symbol for the car. It would cycle through collision, airbags, braking, all of it. Luckily I was able to drive to a safe place. I let the car sit overnight and the alarms stopped. Took it to service and they could not recreate it and no codes showed up. Second time it happened, the warning sounds and lights didn’t stop. The car would jerk when I tried to put it in drive, so I had it towed to dealership. They have video and photos of it. After 2 weeks, they said it was fixed-a pin in a connector was bent. Had car for 3 days and it happened again. Had it towed again. They have had their ‘senior’ techs looking at it, and none can figure it out. There are Reddit posts with this same issue, as well as Hyundai group sites.

My fuel injectors has been blown and Hyundai will not replace all 4 when one goes out. So I have to keep going back up to the dealership to get it fixed each time. They always blow on the highway. The first time I was doing some distance driving from Columbus, OH to Dayton, OH. Then the other time happened when I was on the highway during rush hour traffic. There were no other warnings before this happens. It just happens and the engine light comes on as the steering will begins to shakes like crazy.
