- #11676764July 28, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
I leased a 2023 Hyundai Tucson AWD, and approximately four months after leasing, I began experiencing vibration and shaking when braking, especially at higher speeds and downhill. I brought the issue to a dealership, and while replacing the brake pads temporarily resolved the problem, I am concerned it will return, as many other Tucson owners have reported similar recurring issues even after rotor or pad replacement. This raises concerns about a potential underlying defect in the braking system that may not have been properly addressed. The issue poses a serious safety risk due to reduced control during braking, and I am documenting this in case it recurs. No warning lights appeared, but the problem was physically noticeable and confirmed by the service center. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I have a video i can send as per request i am not able to attach.

- #11676592July 28, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL
The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the instrument cluster went black; however, the radio was still playing. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent and occurred while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that occasionally the failure lasted for 20 minutes before the instrument cluster returned to normal function. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the coaxial cable needed to be adjusted. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the same dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and informed the contact that the instrument cluster wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

On Friday, [XXX], around [XXX] PM while traveling home my dashboard lights on the instruments panel and windshield pop up display were out, then back on, then out again, and then back on. On Saturday, [XXX], I traveled to another area about an hour away and all was fine, but on the way home it went out at least 12 times. Sometimes the dashboard light would come back up but not the pop-up display. When these go out I can not see my speed or any alerts that may possibly come up. Without any notice, the crankshaft seized while driving 55 mph on the highway. We were on a highway with one lane in each direction and a shoulder. No warning lights appeared until after the engine failed. We were barely able to coast to the shoulder at the time. The incident blew a baseball size hole in the engine. The vehicle was towed to over 60 miles to Noller Hyundai of Lawrence, Kansas. The repair was paid for under the Hyundai warranty without me providing any maintenance records. The engine is not in our possession for you to inspect, but I'm sure you could reach out to the dealership where it was replaced.

My door to drivers side only fully unlocks from the inside. When my door is locked it now requires me to climb through another door of my car and pop open the drivers door. If I were to get in an accident people wouldn’t be able to get me out if I was incapacitated.

The heads up display and dashboard turns off and on, sometimes going black for 20 min at a time. This results in not having a speedometer or gas gauge, which makes it an unsafe vehicle to drive. Dealer has not been able to fix, despite multiple repair attempts. There are many Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited owners reporting identical issues online. Identification of affected vehicles, determination of an effective repair, and recalls are needed to ensure safety.

- #11675901July 24, 2025FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I am submitting this complaint due to repeated and dangerous fuel injector failures on my 2022 Hyundai Tucson. This is the third time this issue has occurred in less than three years of ownership. •First incident: My vehicle broke down on the side of the road while I was 10 hours away from home in Florida. This left me stranded and required towing and repairs. •Second incident: The fuel injectors failed again, though fortunately closer to my home. •Third and most recent incident: The same issue happened again, this time with my wife driving—a major safety concern. We purchased this vehicle specifically to avoid breakdowns like this and for the safety and reliability it was supposed to provide. This recurring failure is unacceptable for a newer vehicle and poses a significant safety risk to my family and other drivers. Fuel injector failure can lead to stalling in traffic or on highways, increasing the potential for accidents. I urge NHTSA to investigate this matter, as it appears to be a systemic issue with this model and could lead to serious harm if not addressed.

The dash cluster stops working (cant see your speed or other info) goes out for a second and then comes back on. It continues to randomly do this. Once it does this the HUD heads up display goes out as well

While driving, my entire dash will go black. At times, all warning lights will also light up. There is no way to know how fast I am going since the display shuts down. Heads Up Display also goes out with warnings as well. With all warning lights coming on, there is no way to know if there is truly an issue with the car. The car was taken to the dealership and the cluster was replaced. This did not fix the problem. The car is now back at a dealership with no answers. I do have a case opened with Hyundai as well. Case # 41048985. I am a part of a Facebook group were an additional 19 people have also said they have experienced the same issues. There seems to be no real concern from Hyundai. Safety Risk - speed visibility, warning lights, overall safe operation Problem as been confirmed by the dealership No issues with the vehicle prior to this

I am filing a complaint regarding a persistent and disruptive software feature in my leased 2024 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. The vehicle has an integrated "Red Light Camera Warning" that plays an audible voice alert every time I approach or pass an intersection with a red light camera. Despite numerous attempts through the dealership and Hyundai corporate support, according to Hyundai, the alert is part of their Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and is considered a safety feature. However, this is not a safety feature, it is a ticket avoidance alert, and the frequent and repetitive alerts create a distraction from safe driving. Key safety concerns: The alert interrupts active phone calls, audio, and music playback at every flagged intersection, regardless of whether I am obeying traffic laws. This forces the driver’s attention away from the road to deal with the disruption or attempt to resume audio. The alert is often triggered in rapid succession when driving through urban areas with multiple camera-monitored intersections, increasing driver stress and reducing focus. Competing manufacturers (Toyota, Honda, Ford, etc.) allow drivers to disable this feature, but Hyundai claims they do not. There is video documentation showing that Hyundai vehicles are capable of disabling this feature via a simple toggle [XXX]. Hyundai’s unwillingness to offer this basic option infringes on the driver’s ability to maintain focus and control over their in-vehicle environment. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether this alert poses a safety hazard due to distraction and urge Hyundai to provide an option for owners to permanently disable or mute it. Thank you for your attention to this matter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicle suffered extreme oil consumption while under the 'famed' 100k mile warranty. Tests were performed at the dealership confirming excessive oil consumption. Hyundai USA refused to service the issue claiming my personal service records did not meet their standards of responsible maintenance. At 108k miles the engine failed while on the interstate in CO. Cylinder 2 had blown and the dealership noted the towed vehicle was low in oil. The engine failure is a direct result of excessive oil consumption, something that hyundai has been aware of and has chosen to fight against owners damaged vehicles, rather than remedy the issue. Hyundai has faced class action suits and settled on these, yet still has not admitted fault. This issue poses a safety hazard for owners who may suffer catastrophic engine failure while driving.

- #11675342July 22, 2025AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS
On [XXX], the vehicle was involved in a complex multi-impact accident. It was struck by a vehicle on the passenger (right) side and, simultaneously, by another vehicle on the driver's (left) side. (Police Report). During this sequence of collisions, and despite the magnitude of the impact, I must express my extreme concern that the left side airbag (driver's side) did not deploy. This failure caused Mr. [XXX] , the undersigned, to suffer a neck injury as a direct consequence of the incident. Even more seriously, the right-side passenger, Ms. [XXX] , sufferedsevere internal injuries, including three small intestine perforations, according to medical reports. These injuries resulted from improper pressure or malfunction of the seatbelt for that seat. These combined failures, the non-deployment of an essential airbag in impact, and the serious internal injuries caused by the seatbelt represent unacceptable deficiencies in the vehicle's safety systems. We believe that these injuries could have been avoided or mitigated if the safety components had functioned properly, as expected in an accident situation of this magnitude. Therefore, I am at a loss to understand: 1. Why the left side airbag did not deploy during the impact. 2. Why the right passenger seatbelt caused such serious internal injuries, including the three diagnosed intestinal perforations. We also require that concrete and immediate action be taken to address and compensate for the serious injuries suffered by the vehicle's occupants, as this has caused psychological and work- related harm. The controls (buttons) on the right side of my steering wheel progressed from slow to respond to completely unresponsive, and then the driver airbag light started coming on. At first it was intermittent, then constant. I didn't expect those two issues to be related but did come to learn it was the clock switch. According to my Hyundai dealer, this is a known issue in several other years/models of Hyundais and they have extended those warranties, "but it hasn't reached the Tucson yet". I was told that either 1 - my airbag wouldn't deploy or 2 - it would deploy randomly when I was driving the vehicle. I spent nearly $1000 in diagnostics and repairs.

- #11675166July 21, 2025FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
I purchased a brand new fuel pump on 2-28-24 after car died on freeway. Mission Hills Hyundai diagnosed as pump not turning on, so recommended replacing fuel pump assembly. On [XXX] car wouldn’t start, so took vehicle in and the next day it was determined as faulty starter. Car was picked up 7-3-25 after buying a new starter, but car would not start again the next day. The car was actually misdiagnosed and the ruling was tank fuel pump had an intermittent short circuit. I’ve driven on the fuel pump I purchased on 2-28-24 for about a year in a half. It only lasted 40,000 miles. Fuel pumps last 100,000 to 200,000 miles. I’ve driven other vehicles going over 100,000 miles on the same fuel pump. How did this fuel pump go out so quick? Was it installed right? Was it bad wiring? Was it a defective part? Thankfully the fuel pump went out when I wasn’t driving. This is a major safety issue and Lithia, who is the parent company of Mission Hills Hyundai, should be looked into. Also the misdiagnosis from the technician should be in question to. Integrity is also an issue here, so how can I feel safe if I want to to continue getting my car serviced here. Yes they gave me a new fuel pump with no charge, but still had to pay for a starter I didn’t need. Basically I spent $3000 for a part that went out on my vehicle in over a year. Just like how Ford has a recent recall of fuel pumps, Hyundai should be checked into this issue also. I will attach invoices including a service for my fuel system cleaning. I thought all this work I got done would prevent a major failure on a vital vehicle component. Thank you, Hope to hear from you INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
