My engine stopped and locked up. It happened while I was driving on the highway/interstate. Yes it has been diagnosed by the dealership. There was no warning lights prior to the system failure.

On August 14, 2025, at approximately 12:40 AM, my 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited suddenly stalled while driving and became completely non-functional. The vehicle had about 25,000 miles at the time. This left me stranded on the highway in the middle of the night, creating a serious safety risk for myself and other motorists. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership. The dealer claimed the issue was caused by “carbon buildup” and stated that the problem would only be considered “repaired” if I paid for a fuel injection cleaning and fuel induction decarb service (about $500). These services are not listed in the Hyundai factory maintenance schedule, and no diagnostic evidence (photos, test results, or measurements) was provided to support the claim. Because the stall made the vehicle inoperable, I believe this should have been handled under warranty. Instead, I was pressured to pay for optional services in order to have the safety issue resolved. Safety Risk: The vehicle stalled without warning at highway speed, placing myself and others at risk of collision. Based on the dealerhip this needed to be serviced every 20k miles and hyundai deosnot recommend to consumers for some reason..

All warning lights and audible alarms started going off at the same time. EPS, ABS, Auto Hold, Collision warning, Air bags, All wheel drive, brake system, and more.1st time it happened was [XXX], while driving. The car was drivable but I did notice a difference in braking and acceleration. I parked and turned off the car. I did turn the car back on several times and the alarms continued. I finally turned it off for 10 min, and all alarms stopped, but the check engine light stayed on. Car sat overnight and all warnings had stopped. Took it in for service, and issue could not be duplicated. 2nd time it happened was [XXX]. I had to have the car towed since it would not move when in drive or reverse. Alarms were still going off when it made it to service. They replaced the brake harness. 3rd time happened on [XXX], 3 days after the brake harness was replaced. Towed it to service and they replaced the engine harness. 4th time was on [XXX], 2 weeks after engine harness was replaced. This time there were no audible alarms, just all of the visual ones. Same performance issues as stated before. This issue seems to have happened to several other Hyundai owners as well, as per complaints in Reddit and on Hyundai forums. There does not seem to be a consensus for what is actually causing this issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11686093September 9, 2025EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Both Headlights suddenly became very dim WHILE I WAS DRIVING. On normal lights there is almost no light beam coming out at all, and on bright lights there is slightly more lighting, but there is also what looks to be a large shadow across the light beams. I’ve had it checked and there are NO bulbs burnt out.

I have had 3 fuel injectors go out on my 2022 Hyundai Tucson. When this happened it was completely random and my car would stall and I would be stuck on the side of the road. I have had to miss work due to this happening. They told me that they are only able to replace the broken one each time instead of replace the all 4 while covered under warranty. They also told me that fuel injectors breaking is a common problem in 2022 and newer Tucson's as they are higher pressure systems than previous models. Im worried that this is going to keep happening and I'm going to keep breaking down due to fuel injectors breaking and end up stranded somewhere.

I have had two incidents with this vehicle (that I have owned for less than 90 days) that have raised safety concerns. Both involved the loss of all information on the "instrument panel" AKA dashboard. In the first (August 18, 2025), all of the warning lights came on, then the screen went dark - there was no information on the two screens and no head's up display. This happened while I was on the highway doing about 65 mph. After I was able to pull over safely, it took several attempts to get the vehicle started again and in gear. I took it to the dealer the next day and they were unable to replicate the issue and saw no codes. The second episode occurred yesterday (9/6/25). This time the screen went dark except for a large red warning "NO SIGNAL". The screen came back after a few moments; I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Both of these involved losing all information as to the speed of the vehicle - which I believe is a safety issue. Both of these issues have also been reported by others on Facebook ("Hyundai Owners") since late last year and it appears to be some sort of electrical issue but there has been no TSB or recall by Hyundai yet.

On [XXX], while driving a 2023 Hyundai TUCSON SEL, the steering wheel suddenly and completely detached from the steering column and ended up in the driver's lap. This sudden and absolute loss of steering control is a catastrophic failure of a primary safety system that placed the driver's life and potentially the lives of others in immediate and extreme peril. It was only due to sheer luck that the vehicle was brought to a stop without an accident or injury. Following the incident, due to fear and anxiety, the driver is now in treatment and has been unable to work. The vehicle was transported to Ron Marhofer Hyundai on the same day. The following day, the driver was met with a profound lack of respect and professionalism from the service advisor, Declan McCready. The driver and her mother were implicitly told they did not know what they were talking about and were treated with a profound lack of respect. The service advisor initially asserted there was no warranty coverage for the issue and that it would cost nearly $500.00 to fix. He also claimed his entire shop of mechanics looked at the car and found nothing was broken. However, the very next day, the dealership abruptly reversed their diagnosis and instructed the driver to get a rental car, stating they would now be fixing the vehicle under warranty. The repair order confirms the technician's findings: "verified concern steering column separated stopped bracket bent and separated replaced column housing operating normal". The vehicle had 14,479 miles at the time of the failure. There were no prior warnings or symptoms before the incident. While driving my 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, the vehicle suddenly lost power without warning. On August 29, 2025 , while traveling at approximately 65 mph on a highway, the vehicle disengaged from cruise control and the accelerator became unresponsive. Later thatt day, it happened again, but this time it was on a surface street because I feared an accident on the highway. The engine went into idle, and I was unable to accelerate. I was forced to coast to a stop in a potentially unsafe situation. This also happened on August 23, 2025 in a parking lot. The issue occurs randomly and without any prior warnings or error codes. I am concerned about the safety risk of losing propulsion at highway speeds. The dealership has been unable to reproduce the issue.

Hyundai has a known issue with GDI fuel injectors. Car begins to shake and lose power and eventually will stall due to cylinder misfire caused by defective injectors.

- #11685043September 4, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
2025 Hyundai Tucson SEL Convenience The car is equipped with FAW Forward Attention Warning System which is supposed to give a warning if the driver's focus is diverted from looking at the road. The problem is that while driving in what Hyundai calls HDA (Highway Driving Assist) which activates when the car is placed in adaptive cruise control (cruise control that keeps the vehicle at a set speed and distance from the cars ahead) and lane driving assist (driving assist to keep the vehicle centered in the lane) the car issues far too many false warnings telling the driver to "keep your eyes on the road". While in HDA, the car monitors the driver's eyes and head position using a driver facing camera, part of the FAW (Forward Attention Warning system) or DDMS (Direct Driver Monitoring System) to assure the driver is focused on the road ahead. However, in the 2025 Hyundai, this system is so flawed that the car is practically undrivable in the HDA mode with cruise control and lane driving assist engaged issuing too many false warnings, that the driver is not focusing on the road. The multiple warnings, in some cases every few seconds, is extremely distracting taking the driver's attention away from safely controlling the vehicle. The system which is intended to make the vehicle safer is instead such a distraction it makes the car unsafe due to the constant false warnings requiring driver attention to address them and away from safely operating the vehicle.

My Tucson was involved in a MVA. I was hit in the rear end by another SUV on the rear back passenger side of the vehicle. During impact, the steering wheel literally detached from the dashboard in my driver's hands leaving us with no way to steer or maneuver the vehicle. The result of this safety failure could have lead to serious injury or death of myself, my driver or anybody in the path of the vehicle. We did have hit anything. There is zero front or side damage to the Tucson. No airbags deployed, not even the one in the steering wheel. There were no warning lights or anything indicating there was a problem w the vehicle. I called the dealership and filed a complaint with Hyundai consumer affairs. They had an inspector go inspect the vehicle and followed up w a letter stating the vehicle did as it was designed to. The vehicle was deemed a total loss from my insurance company. It is currently sitting in impound and unsure if it is available for future inspection. There was zero issues with the vehicle prior to this incident other than a stone chip to the windshield that was due to be replaced. This vehicle was only 5 months old.

My car has had an oil consumption problem for over a year that Hyundai refuses to acknowledge. I passed the oil consumption test because the oil burns rapidly when I have about 1,000 miles left before my next oil change. They have replaced my exhaust, catalytic converter, spark plugs, and oil release valve over the course of many visits. Every time I have the oil problem, they find something different to “fix” and I have to pay out of pocket. None of these have fixed the actual problem. The hyundai representative I have been in contact with (after they reassigned my case to someone 3 different times - so it’s never the same person that is familiar with my case), told me there is nothing they can do to help me because the dealerships are independently owned. I am now out of warranty, although I originally brought my car there while it was still covered under warranty.

In April of 2024, I bought my 2016 Hyundai Tucson for a certified dealership in FL. Within 2 months the car began shaking and I had to take it to have spark plugs replaced which cost several hundred dollars. Shortly after that in November 2024, I was driving on the highway to school when I got an ‘engine overheating alert’ and immediately pulled over to turn off the car. After waiting for a few minutes to let it cool down and noticing that the coolant was very low, I added some more coolant in and tried to restart the car, but it would not turn on. I had to get a tow truck to a repair shop to which they informed me that the headgasket had blown and it would cost about $12,000 to replace it. Ever since, my car has been towed to multiple Hyundai dealerships and repair shops when I sought after answers as to what happened and one told me that the engine was known for eating oil too quickly, causing it to blow. I bought the car only for $16,000 and would have to pay about the same amount just to fix the engine and reading multiple reports online have shown from other others having the same exact issues with no answers and being stuck. We have had it sitting in our garage ever since and still do not know what to do.

Heads up display and gauge cluster will intermittently flicker and/or reboot. When gauge cluster comes back on it will sometimes have all warning lights stay on. Have had it happen once where gauge cluster rebooted and then flashed "No Signal" while repeatedly rebooting. Both HUD and Gauge cluster do shut off together sometimes so I am no longer able to see my speed when that does happen
