I started having oil issues 3 years after purchasing my hyundai Tuscan 2015. I took my vehicle to hyundai several time all of which I was told by service guy and I quote “Hey its Hyundai, just following up so right now we have a consumption issue. It is currently 2.5 quarts low. The tech recommends re doing the oil change and returning in 1000miles and recheck. When you return and we see that the oil level is more than a quote low then we would have you reduce the service interval from 5000miles to 3000miles, let me know if you have any questions. I had many questions and also wanted to know why it was my responsibility to do all these things if they know the engine is faulty. Had another diagnostic and the code P1326 populated. That means indicates an issue with the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS), often pointing to actual engine knocking caused by worn connecting rod bearings, but also potentially to a faulty knock sensor, wiring problems, outdated ECM. The Theta II engines are documented to have clogged oil galleys, preventing proper lubrication and causing premature wear. They do everything the can NOT to fix the issue even with a lifetime warranty on that engine.

On Sept.12,2025, I was driving with two family members. i was stopped at a light with the auto on/off engaged. Fortunately, i had my foot on the brake as the engine revved very significantly. I threw the car into neutral and the engine returned to normal. Had I not done so, we would have plowed into two cars in front of us at the light. The car was taken to the dealership; but, they could not duplicate a recurrence in road testing.

Due to known oil consumption my car stalled due to no oil left in the engine even though there were 2,000 miles left until my oil change. I have since started to go to my local Hyundai dealership to test for oil consumption and have been tested 3 times and Hyundai is saying that there is oil consumption but it is under the threshold they consider actionable. This is very problematic and can cause many issues for myself and others.

Over the past nine months, I’ve been experiencing ongoing issues with my 2018 Hyundai Tucson engine and transmission. After four consumption tests and a flush confirming that the engine is burning between 0.8 and 0.3 liters of oil for every 1,000, I was informed Hyundai refuses to either repair the issue or conduct testing to determine the cause. The timeline is summarized below: •February 2025 – I was told by [XXX] my vehicle simply did not have enough oil after the last oil change; •March 2025 – I was informed an initial consumption test needed to be completed; •May 2025 – a second consumption test revealed the engine was burning more than 1 liter per 1000 and a flush was completed; •July 2025 – a third consumption test was completed, revealing that while the engine was excessively burning oil, it was not currently at 1 liter per 1000 based on that test; August 2025 – the oil light came on & I was instructed to put a liter of oil into my vehicle to make it to the certified dealer for next steps. The next steps were another consumption test. Unfortunately, because I was told to add oil to make it to the dealership, I was then informed that this added oil would alter the testing, and we had to start over. •September 2025 – I am now awaiting the results of the fourth consumption test. I have receipts for every 6 months or 7,500 of service since purchasing the vehicle., Despite the engine and transmission being under warranty, the dealership has refused to conduct testing to determine the cause of the issue or remedy the excessive consumption. - #11688857September 22, 2025VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
The foward attention warning feature needs to be updated to allow owners to shut off the system. When traveling at highway speeds, the speed control shuts off without warning! This has become a possibilty of causing a rear end collision! Please enact a solution to this problem.. Please refer to the Hyundai website for MANY more complaints concerning the foward attention warning features.. Thank you

- #11689056September 22, 2025EXTERIOR LIGHTING, VISIBILITY/WIPER
The rear brake lights and turn signals on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson are not visible to following drivers due to their low placement and design. Multiple drivers have nearly rear-ended us because they could not see when I was braking or signaling. The lights function electrically, but their position makes them obstructed and not noticeable from normal following distances. This is a serious safety hazard and creates a high risk of rear-end collisions. The dealer confirmed the lights work as designed but cannot change their position. This is a design defect that cannot be repaired and should be investigated for recall.

The rear hatch was open as I had loaded packages in it. My husband & I were both at the rear of the car. I was on the passenger side but told my husband I was going to drive home and began crossing over to the driver side. He pushed the button to close the hatch. It came down and hit me in the head. It lacerated my head and really hurt. I had to get 5 staples to close the wound. This is a very concerning safety hazard. As an adult it was painful and required medical attention. I believe it should have detected my presence and stopped. I am concerned what would have happened if this was a child. I believe they would have been seriously injured or killed. I have 3 grandchildren so it is very concerning.

Forward collision warning automatic braking caused car behind me to rear-end me. This is the first accident but third time the automatic braking unnecessarily caused an issue. The car in front of me was far enough away that it did not require an auto-brake.

My 2017 Hyundai Tucson Limited 1.6L Turbo (with 7-speed EcoShift DCT) has ongoing transmission problems. The vehicle hesitates, jolts, and sometimes fails to accelerate from a stop, which creates a serious safety risk when entering traffic or crossing intersections. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the Hyundai dealership in Fairfield, CT. They diagnosed the transmission and recommended a complete replacement at a cost of over $7,000. This issue matches the defect described in NHTSA Recall 16V628000 and Hyundai Service Campaign T1B, which involved the same 7-speed EcoShift DCT in 2016–2017 Tucson models. However, my VIN was not included even though I am experiencing the exact same safety defect. No warning lamps appeared before the hesitation/judder began. The safety risk is significant because the vehicle can fail to accelerate as expected in traffic, increasing the chance of a crash.

PARKED SUBJECT CAR IN GARAGE AT APPROXIMATELY 11:15 AM AFTER TURNING OFF VENTILATION FAN AND CUTTING ENGINE OFF, WHICH DISPLAYED "OFF" AT DASH BUTTON. AT APPROXIMATELY 7 PM (SAME DAY) WENT INTO GARAGE TO RETRIEVE ITEM AND HEARD THIS LOUD NOISE SIMILAR TO AN ELECTRIC CLOTHES DRYER RUNNING - WASN'T DRYER. AS I GOT CLOSE TO CAR, HEARD THIS SAME SOUND. RAISED HOOD AND COULD FEEL AIR MOVEMENT . CHECKED ENGINE OIL - NOT WARM. BACKED CAR OUT OF GARAGE INTO DRIVEWAY OUT OF SAFETY CONCERN IN CASE OF FIRE. WILL CONTACT HYUNDAI MOTORS TO REPORT THIS INCIDENT AND FOR INSTRUCTIONS WHAT ACTION I SHOULD TAKE NEXT. THIS IS THE FIRST INCIDENT REGARDING MY CAR"S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. DURING THE 3 HOURS DRIVING THAT MORNING, I HAD NO WARNING SIGNS ON DASHBOARD OR FAN MOTOR RUNNING AFTER TURNING ENGINE OFF. HAD MADE 3 STOPS AND ENGINE START UPS DURING THAT TIME

- #11688209September 18, 2025ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 MPH, and slowing down to make a right turn, the vehicle almost stalled and lost power. The contact stated that the check oil warning light was flashing on and off. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle failed to respond. The contact was able to pull over and shift into park(P). The contact had not turned the vehicle off. The contact called her father. The father arrived, and the vehicle was turned off. The contact stated that her father checked the oil dipstick and saw that the oil level was extremely low. The contact stated that two quarts of oil were added. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer. The dealer diagnosed and determined that a gasket on the oil filler tube was not correctly seated, and the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The contact stated that prior to the recent failure with the catalytic converter, the catalytic converter had been replaced approximately 1 year and 8 months prior. The dealer also recommended that the engine be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

- #11687766September 17, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
The computer(s) responsible for many of the safety systems have faulty software. The computer vision system incorrectly assess condition of the roadway and issues warnings that obscure the instrument cluster. The computer vision system also incorrectly determines that a collision is imminent (despite no obstacles being present) and activates the braking system. Hyundai has been aware of this issue since 2022 and has previously released a software patch to correct it. However, unpatched vehicles are still being sold (and resold) by Hyundai dealerships without being fixed because Hyundai has chosen to rescind the availability of the update. Unpatched vehicles are on the road preventing drivers from properly monitoring vehicle operation as a result of the continuous warning obscuring the cluster and are jeopardizing the occupants and other road users when the vehicles spontaneously initiate panic stops for phantom obstacles. Hyundai refuses requests to provide the existing update files because a future update with an uncertain release date is planned; release of the "upcoming" update has seemingly already been delayed 8 months.
