This Hyundai Tucson was 3 months old when the transmission started to shudder and miss gears. I immediately took it in to Ken Garff Hyundai and the service advisor drove the car and said nothing is wrong with the car and that the transmission needs to break in and sent me on my way. The Tucson did it again while in traffic and the vehicle would not go and I had to put my hazard lights on and let the car struggle in changing gears to get it off the road. The car was towed in to Peoria Larry Miller Hyundai and this was documented by that dealership of the car shuddering and that they thought it was from my insurance plug in device. I explained that the car did it before the plug in. I removed the plug in device and the car continued to shudder. On [XXX] while backing out of my garage the car began to shudder while in reverse and i continued down the road while the transmission refused to change gears. It almost sounded aa if the car was in neutral and the car would on go no more than 3mp. I had the gas pedal floored and the car would not go. I reparked the car back at my home and called Hyundai for a tow. The tow came and the tow driver stated that the seemed as if it is in neutral as he drove it up on to the tow truck. After getting the vehicle to the dealership i was told from the service advisor that this is an ongoing problem with Hyundai's dual clutch transmission and this sounds like the problem. Jan '22 - Reported check engine light had begun to turn off and back on when gas tank was low. Feb '22 At 19k miles catalytic convertor reported failed for code (P0420), 3 way catalyst, upper and lower gaskets, and manifold all needed to be replaced - took 4 days Aug'23 called to request service for check engine light because it was coming off and on over periods of time. Scheduled for Sep'23 Sep '23 service reports new cat quoted for code P0420, I was not verbally informed by service advisor. 16 Nov '23 driving home and car starts to shake and is slow to accelerate, check engine light started to flash, car enters limp mode, could not drive safely on highway and waited hours for a tow. Codes P0420(cat convertor), P1326 (Knock sensor) 25 Nov '23 picked up car, had catalytic convertor, manifold gasket, knock sensor replaced. Drove 27 miles and car check engine light begins flashing again (P1326) on freeway while merging. Car hesitates, starts to slow, had to merge over to shoulder from far left lane as car had no acceleration. I felt unsafe to exit vehicle being 9 months pregnant. Waited 2 hours for tow back to service dept the same day I picked up vehicle. 8 Feb '24- picked up car from service department. They performed engine combustion chamber cleaning and reported excessive cylinder wall scoring. Service advisor feels confident this fixed the problem. I feel unsafe driving a car that has left me stranded multiple times on busy highways and freeways, especially with children. The manufacturer keeps replacing parts and cannot seem to diagnose issue, they keep repairing problems caused by a major issue that has not been diagnosed.

The oil is burning up so fast. Every oil change that is within the mileage limits they tell me my car is bone dry. If the oil in my car runs out my car engine can blow up or it can stop working. The only way it has been reproduced is that every oil change for 2 years now they have told me it’s bone dry. It has not been inspected by manufacturer. They told me it would cost about $400 for them to even just check it out. There are no warning lights at all.

On a clear day in December 2023 the sunroof on my 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid 4d 4wd exploded. There was an incredibly loud bang while driving along Hwy [XXX] outside Wausau, Wisconsin. I had the inside of the sunshade closed. I pulled over at the next exit. It was a beautiful clear day. I drove back to town to the dealer I purchased the vehicle from. They said they had never heard of this happening. Our insurance agent told my husband she had dealt with the same issue 3 weeks earlier. - #11571030February 9, 2024ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving 25 MPH, the vehicle stalled. There was a rattling sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle then entered LIMP Mode. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to drive to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine had seized due to rod bearing failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed the contact there was no warranty coverage on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact about an Extended Warranty coverage. The manufacturer was contacted and declined to authorize the repair. The contact stated that the failure was related to TSB Number: 22-01-023H-2 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

On 9/26/23 Recall #23V651000 was issued for my 2013 Hyundai Tucson. As of 2/9/24 the remedy is not available. How long does NHTSA give the auto maker to remedy the recall? Four months, to me, seems plenty of time to fix the problem. If you could let me know when the remedy should happen I would appreciate it. Thanks

- #11570944February 9, 2024UNKNOWN OR OTHER, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
The forward collision avoidance system made me have accident. I was driving on the expressway, the forward collision made the car stop abruptly, then accelerate. As I was veering to the right, the car stopped again in the middle of the expressway causing me to have an accident. This is unacceptable and very unsafe. This vehicle is not safe to drive with the collision warnings.

- #11570496February 7, 2024EXTERIOR LIGHTING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Driving at night when it snows is unsafe. The forward collision warning sensor is covered with snow within minutes and so are the headlights. They are placed in the front bumper and covered with snow because by their design they are not flush with the bumper. They are sitting deep within the bumper which creates a trap for snow and slush. I hade to stop every few minutes to clean the headlights from snow because they were covered and I couldn’t see anything in front. It’s a design flaw.

The contact's family friend owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while the family friend was driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine made an abnormally loud knocking sound. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with connecting rod bearing wear and it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer denied the engine replacement due to a lack of service records. The vehicle was then towed to Hyundai of 110 (2100 Broadhollow Rd, Farmingdale, NY 11735), where it was also diagnosed with connecting rod bearing wear and it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at Hyundai of 110. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V727000 (Engine); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
