Engine failure I was driving down 422 East to king of Prussia. Engine failure I was driving down [XXX] to king of Prussia. My car jumped then began creating a sharp chirping sound from under the dash. I was in the middle of traffic. My safety was put at risk as there was no warning. I was able to get off the exit but immediately after, the cars engine light began to flash, oil censor, and I turned my car off. I was stranded on the [XXX] with cars zooming past me. I created a danger to myself and others as it was difficult to see around me coming off the exit. The vehicle is currently at Faulkner Hyundai awaiting a submission to the warranty company with me on my hands and knees praying to god it gets approved. I was contacted by Hyundai last year about a possible recall on my engine so I brought it in October 2023 to have it checked out. I was told that everything with the car was fine. Fast forward to last week 02-21-2024 and my engine starts shutting off while driving ON THE HIGHWAY? I have it towed to a new dealership in Jacksonville FL Jenkins Hyundai I believe. They inform me that it is indeed the engine and it will be replaced for free under warranty. However, it’s been over a week and the parts for the car are still not available. I have researched online and found I am far from the only one this has happened to. I was not given a loaner car and they did not offer to pay for my rental but I was told they would reimburse me. I was also told that they would just pay every week for a rental car for me but then I was later told that that was a flat out lie. After March 7th when the rental car I have is to be returned I can no longer afford a rental car and will not have access to reliable transportation. This could potentially result in me losing my job. This is unacceptable and Hyundai should be investigated and held accountable for selling cars they know have faulty engines.

Campaign #[XXX] I was notified and contacted Hyundai multiple times - 11/14, 15 and 16.There were multiple other times as well. I contacted both Broadway and Bergstrom Hyundai in both Appleton and Green Bay on multiple occasions as well to ask for a rental while awaiting the remedy as you are advised not to park near structures and outside. I live in an area where this is not possible and rent a duplex with a shared driveway-meaning that if a fire would occur, an explosion would most likely occur and lives would be lost. This also means that going to run errands while parked near other vehicles could cause multiple fatalities, as an explosion would most likely occur and more lives would be lost. If I were at any location and the vehicle started on fire, there would certainly be fatalities. To date, I have contacted Hyundai again and the representative was extremely unhelpful and unfriendly. At one point I was promised a rental but then was turned away. No warning lights came on but if there is a fluid leak, who is to say that the wires that would transmit a signal to turn on an ABS light would not be disabled as well?Brake fluid has certain components that could render wires useless. I have not had my vehicle inspected by a dealer because the recall was sent to me by Hyundai. I also have had other problems with this vehicle including seats not being stable and seatbelt indicators not working which questions whether I need to worry about the passengers safety. This campaign has been ongoing since I received this letter in November of 2023. Hyundai has yet to do a thing about this recall. I am asking for a complete refund for this vehicle due to multiple recalls. Today-[XXX] I was on hold for 50 minutes, without an agent-so I am also questioning how seriously you are taking these issues. I have always looked on your website prior to purchasing vehicles, but now I am uncertain as to how much I should take your websites advice. The engine in this vehicle is faulty like same engine in 2016 Hyundai Veloster. The recall that covers the engine in the Veloster shows identical engine failure to that seen in our vehicle. We noticed that the engine oil light came on within 3k miles of the last oil change and when we checked we had lost over 3 quarts of oil with no signs of external leaking. We put in more oil and within a week it started knocking and the engine failed. We took it to the shop and they said they had replaced multiple Hyundai engines under warranty for same exact problem. Reference Hyundai Campaign 22-01-023H. Hyundai is stating they are not going to fix this issue on the Hyundai Tucson because it doesn't fall under the recall yet though they know it has same issue. Our car has less than 90k miles with full synthetic used the entire time. This engine fails, they know why it fails, and ours did while my wife was taking kids to school.

Serious Safety Hazard: 2024 Hyundai Tucson Power Steering Failures I have had numerous power steering failures while this driving vehicle. During these incidents, the steering wheel is extremely difficult to turn. This is a serious safety hazard which could lead to a severe accident and loss of life. During each incident occurrence, I noted a red steering wheel with an exclamation point was displayed on the dashboard. The power steering function is restored once I have found a safe location to pull the car off the road and then I reset the car by switching it off completely and then starting it again. My local dealer has not been able to duplicate the problem nor determine the root cause. The dealership has escalated the issue to Hyundai America for technical assistance. I currently have an open case with Hyundai Motor America National Consumer Affairs. I have noted similar power steering failure incident reports posted on the NHTSA website for earlier model Hyundai Tuscon vehicles.

- #11574209February 27, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
My vehicle has been malfunctioning with the automatic emergency brake. A total of 5 times. I am driving down the road going around 50-65 mph I am the only one in my vehicle and all of the sudden it puts the emergency brake on. It’s like someone else takes over my vehicle. Fortunately I have not been rear ended. Nobody has been in front of me when this happens the first time. It is not linked to or to be confused with the collision warning, it is wholly the emergency braking system that is put on with the light stating this & throws me forward into the steering wheel. I towed my vehicle into the Bakersfield Hyundai shop & they have been unable to duplicate my problem with the vehicle. I have lost ALL confidence in my vehicle due to it has done it a total of 5 times and I just got it in September 2023. It has been in the shop for this month. Was taken to them by tow truck on 2/7/24. Was told by tow truck driver that I would be in body bag if it happened again especially in front of a diesel truck. This is either a first of a major recall or a Lemon car. Either way not wanting to get in it again. Needs to be addressed and they can’t do anything about it. I do not have any pictures of my vehicle due to it is an internal issue but I do have the paperwork from the dealership shop.

New 2022 tucson limited power train stalled, would not accelerate randomly while on the highway in NJ on [XXX]. Had to get to side of the road and put hazards on as was unable to accelerate past 40mph in a 65mph zone. Once turning off the car, the electrical systems reset. It was crazy i only had the car for 200miles. Thank God it was a leased car. Flash forward it occurred twice before hitting 1k miles. Took it to get serviced and service department had no idea and said nothing was found to be the cause after the second time it stalled. Other incident was around 20k miles gas lock latch broke somehow and couldn't open gas tank to put gas in car. Went to 3 dealerships, 2 couldn't see me without an appointment. Had to get it snapped off then come back to get car serviced which took 2 additional hrs. Unreliable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicle stalled in the middle of an intersection. No warning lights were illuminated, no dashboard indicators were illuminated prior to and or during the time of the vehicle stalling in a 3 lane intersection. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic. Upon inspection the mechanic stated the engine appeared to have significant rod wear and tear not indicative of the year the car was built. He stated this make and model were under a recall with Hyundai and he would not complete any repairs until Hyundai was able to review in the event the car was under recall. I called the manufacturer and the individual said the vin was not under recall, there was nothing they could do. I explained the safety concerns at that time and was advised to have the vehicle towed to a Hyundai dealership for further review by Hyundai due to meeting all criteria of the recall. The hyundai dealership stated the vin number was not under the recall and it would take 6 to 8 weeks to inspect the engine.

Campaign 209. Hyundai is refusing to provide assistance under recall campaign 209 for our VIN. Our vehicle has premature rod bearing failure causing engine failure. Rod knock noise. My wife drives the 2017 Hyundai Tucson. This year in June 2023 our vehicle check engine light came on for knock sensor. Soon after the vehicle started having acceleration issues, then the oil pressure warning light would come on and off. The vehicle oil level was checked, and we learned the vehicle oil level was low. The vehicle was through burning oil. The vehicle had burned through a quart of oil with no explanation. Our VIN # for our vehicle indicates there is an active recall Campaign #209 for Rod bearing issues with our specific model and VIN. Our specific vehicle and VIN when entered into Hyundai’s website reflects active recall. We took the vehicle into Red Mccombs Hyundai Northwest to have our vehicle evaluated. Red Mccombs submitted a PA to Hyundai for engine replacement. They denied coverage stalling vehicle is no longer under warranty but made no mention of active recall. We got Hyundai Consumer Affairs involved and had same result with denial stalling vehicle is no longer under warranty. We then brought up recall #209 explaining we are having all the same issues they list on their website for this active recall. Dealer refused to look at rod bearings stalling we would have to pay for them to inspect rod bearings. Hyundai consumer affairs had us take it to another Hyundai service dept. for a second opinion. As Hyundai consumer affairs requested, we drove vehicle to principle Hyundai of boerne. While driving my vehicle from Red Mcccombs Hyundai Northwest to Principle Hyundai of Boerne it failed on the highway. The vehicle was making a loud knocking noise and would not accelerate past 50 mph. Check engine light was on again. We managed to bring the vehicle into Principle Hyundai of Boerne and they evaluated the vehicle. The service advisor immediately agreed to hearing the knocking noise. After evaluating the vehicle, the te

Panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded when driving on highway. No warning. Sounded like a gunshot. Had to pull over on the highway and clean off as much glass as I could so it did not cause injury or damage to other motorists. Looks like many other Tucson owners are experiencing similar issues. Has not been inspected yet as dealerships and insurance are closed today.

Engine knock, called multiple dealers… told it sounds like connected bearing engine issue, and it’s due to blow, try to make it here, if light comes on for engine.. stop do not touch car it will blow. Drove slowly to swap for a rental on highway as told. Engine blew as engine light flashed, car got louder, smoke came out of car, and a piece from engine blew underneath to behind my car on highway. VERY TRAUMATIC.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda Tucson. The contact stated while driving 74 MPH with the cruise control activated, the Forward Collision Avoidance system activated, after which the Automatic Emergency Braking activated, causing a rapid deceleration to the vehicle. The contact was able to regain control of the vehicle by lightly tapping the brake pedal, deactivating the system. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure but informed the contact that they would disable the Forward Collision Avoidance system pending a diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 13,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the front driver’s side window failed to operate as intended. The vehicle was initially taken to an independent mechanic and a diagnostic test showed that the window motor had become damaged due to the electrical solenoid overheating which caused a breakage in the mounting between the spool assembly and the driver’s side window module motor. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred to a local dealer to have a diagnostic test performed. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V651000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
