- #11643635February 19, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: SENSING SYSTEM: RADAR
The contact owns a 2025 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving 74 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly decelerated to 50 MPH. The message "Front Driver's Assist System Cannot Operate - Clean Area Some" was displayed. The contact stated while in the process of pulling over to the side of the road, the vehicle accelerated as needed. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the front radar had gone into LIMP mode and was misaligned. The dealer realigned the radar. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact that it was a known failure and that the front radar of the vehicle could become misaligned after hitting a pothole. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 1,172.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH from a complete stop, the vehicle stalled temporarily. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving. A message advising that the vehicle needed oil was displayed. The contact started to pull over to the side of the road and the vehicle stalled. The contact's husband met the contact on the side of the road and added oil to the engine. The contact was able to drive to the destination; however, the contact stated that the failure recurred while driving from a complete stop. The message "Oil Empty" was displayed. The contact pulled into a parking lot. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, where unknown engine parts were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The mechanic determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: RQ24013 (Engine). The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

- #11643346February 18, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
When we have taken this vehicle on the highway or interstate, the Adaptive Cruise Control randomly disengages while driving and renders any cruise options unusable. When this happens the vehicle brakes hard while driving. The braking system also randomly brakes hard while driving, even if the cruise control is working. This is a huge safety concern as we are on the highway and interstate with several other vehicles around us. We are worried we will get in an impact collision from the rear. We have taken this vehicle to a certified Honda repair center four times for this specific concern and this 4th occurrence, the Pilot has been there for over 27 days with no resolution. This is a brand new vehicle and we have had this safety issue/faulty ACC since we purchased it.

I own three Honda vehicles. All of them have paint issues. This 2019 Honda Pilot is having paint peeling off of the rear hatch and other areas of the body. No physical damage has happened to these areas and the paint peeling is not a result of any mechanical force. The paint itself is chipping off of its own accord.

Paint has peeled completely off of areas of the body--including the roof above the windshield and others. This peeling has occurred without any physical damage to the body itself

Vehicle started jerking bad and all the lights on the dash started rotating through the error messages. Took care to shop and confirmed fuel pump was bad. There is a recall on 2016 Honda Pilot Fuel Pumps but not for this particular model.

I have owned this vehicle since September 2021. Recently see a recall on engine stalling on Honda Pilot 2023-2025 model years. I have had this happen , engine stalling, twice on my 2022 Pilot. Reported the first incident to Honda dealer service and they said might be related to a software glitch, didn't think of it as any problem even though engine warning signal came on and I had to pull off the highway and stop engine and restart after several minutes. That solved the issue. Most recently this January the same thing happened again, lost power and engine light came on. Again I had to pull off the highway as I had no power to go over 30-35mph, could not resume speed limit to 55mph. What is most peculiar about this is that it happened at the same place as the first tome as I turned left from the highway.

- #11642596February 13, 2025ENGINE, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
I am experiencing two ongoing issues with my vehicle that have not been resolved despite recent recall repairs (fuel pump and hood striker). 1. Acceleration Stutter Issue When accelerating, the car shakes/stutters before finally picking up speed. I initially thought the fuel pump recall repair would fix this, but the problem persists. This affects vehicle performance and safety, especially when merging into traffic or crossing intersections. 2. Electrical / Computer System Malfunctions All Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) malfunction and display error messages onscreen, preventing these systems from functioning. Since both issues persist and could pose safety risks, I am reporting this as a potential defect for further investigation. Since these issues are not detailed for my vehicle, but do seem to be occurring I other models, I don't think it's right for me to have to payout of pocket to fix it when other models with the same issue get covered.

- #11642595February 13, 2025LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
On Tues. Feb.11, 2025, I was at a stop light when the car went into reverse on it's own. Then, when driving, the car went into neutral on it's own. Again, at a stop light, the car went into reverse. I had the car towed to dealership that day. I was sent a msg. that the shifter is defective and that a new one would be ordered. There were two msgs. on the dash when this issue occurred. One stated a transmission problem and the other was a blind spot problem. I am currently waiting for the service dept. to get back to me. I had my two young grandsons in the car with me as well as my husband. It was terrifying.

- #11642425February 13, 2025BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
During the most recent weather, light snow, the sensor on the front of the car ices over and disables many of the safety features while driving. The driver will get a caution alert on the dash that says "some" safety features "May" be disabled. However, there is no information about which ones or why. This particular issue has happened multiple times in inclement weather. Also I know it's a problem as while in the dealership many were calling asking g about why this was happening. It is a danger to drivers. If they heated the "H" emblem, where the radar sensor is, it would not be a problem. I have included photos of the dash at the time along with photos of the emblem iced over and the general conditions outside at the time, very light snow

My push start is not starting the car. Then while driving the car will shut off on parkway, at a light and won't start. This has been going on since I purchased the vehicle 9/23 I have warranty and th auto dealership keep acting like they fixed it yet the haven't. This is the most dangerous issue. We can die getting hit from behind or the car can catch fire keep pushing start button and not turning on

The stop/start feature will randomly not restart after a stop at a stop sign in traffic. The defect is totally random so it cannot be replicated by the dealer. I have struggled with this problem for years and have not had a crisis because I usually shut off the stop start feature to avoid this system failure. There are no warning lights or symptoms that indicate a failure is eminent. On February 9, 2025 as my wife and I were driving home from the airport at 2:30 AM on a below zero temperature day in the middle of desolate countryside, my Pilot would not restart after I stopped at a stop sign. I had forgotten to turn off the stop start feature. There was no other traffic on the road to help and no houses or other warm places to find refuge so I hoped that I could figure out who I could call to rescue us before we froze to death. I allowed the Pilot to set for a while and after the fourth try, the vehicle again started. I took the Pilot to the local Honda dealer and they indicated that although the battery passed a regular battery check, when an extreme battery load was placed on the battery it failed the battery test. I asked about the stop start issues reported to the NHTSA but they would only talk about my need for a new battery. I think Honda dealers are attempting to deflect this design issue by blaming the issue on the batteries and are selling batteries instead of fixing this issue. I tried to explain that this is a chronic issue that was present when my battery was new but they deflected that argument and continued to press the sale of a new battery.

I would like to present an issue with the third row seat headrest in my 2021 Honda Pilot. After stowing the third row seat to utilize the rear storage area the third row driver side head rest on the seat would not return to the upright position. After a few attempts to fold the seat/reset the position of the seat and still the headrest not folding up - took to dealership and upon their inspection determined the seat folding mechanism (which also folds the headrest) needed to be replaced. This was not covered by the factory warranty nor the extended warranty company which the dealership uses. As such, the mechanism needed to be replaced by the dealership (the third row in my vehicle is used everyday for occupants).

Hi NHSTA! My mechanic has diagnosed the 2017 Honda Pilot engine problem as a rod knock. Currently, the vehicle is undrivable. The mechanic was surprised that the engine was NOT covered under the 2016-2020 Honda Pilot recall. Relevant links: [XXX] [XXX] I also contacted Honda to report the issue, but they offered no further help. Besides contacting a consumer protection attorney, what other options do I have?
