When at a complete stop, engine will stop running but AC and radio stay on (sometimes radio dies). I have to toggle between park or drive or neutral to get car to even power completely off, open door to kill electronics, and restart. This has happened in stop and go traffic and at stop lights. This week my car shifted into neutral while stopped at a light and I had to figure out how to power car off and restart, no idea what the magic combo ended up to be as I had a line of cars behind me trying to just get my car to go again.

The occupant detection system for all five rear seats is erratic, frequently reporting seats as occupied and unbuckled when they are empty or folded flat. Once the vehicle reaches 10 mph, audible alerts trigger and recur up to three times for 30 to 60 seconds each, even if no passengers are present. Because these sensors are integral to the restraint system, there is a critical concern that the airbags may not deploy correctly based on this inaccurate occupancy data. Extremely distracting. First time we noticed: Leaving the chanhassen Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s witnesses. We had 4 kids in the vehicle when they were all seated and buckled up and the third row seat (middle) that nobody was sitting in started alarming several times thinking that a passenger was in the and needed to be buckled. This is everyday recurring problem in all 5 rear seats.

The issue that I am having is very serious if I forget to hit the off button which disables the energy saving my car will shut off. This happens if I am at a stop sign or stop light. I literally have to restart my car all over again. Cars behind me have almost hit me. At first I thought this is a new vehicle it is normal for this happen but quickly rode cards similar to my vehicle features and their cars would not stop like mine does. I have called the dealer several times to report this incident but the managers never return my phone calls. I do fear my safety and my children's safety.

Driving down the road with no previous issues and the dashboard flashed a ton of warning lights. Then the engine started knocking. Towed it to Vern Eide Honda and Arrowhead Automotive to be told by both that the rod bearing caused the engine issue and needed to be replaced.

Engine Idle at Stop light or Start & Stop at Traffic Stop Light doesn't work. It does stop completely; however, it didn't start after releasing the brake. You have to put the vehicle back in the parking gear, put the brake to restart the engine. This has happened three times in the last week.

The car began making a knocking noise when it was turned on and began moving. The noise continued every time the car was started until the engine light turned on and began blinking. We pulled the car over immediately. After turning the engine off and letting the car rest, we tried starting the car again and the light was off. Roughly 20 minutes later, the engine light began to blink again, followed by all the lights on the dashboard blinking. We had the car towed to a local Honda dealer. After being inspected, the dealer said the car needed new fuel injectors and an "Engine rebuild/replace: the engine rod knocking during start up and shutdown, drained oil sample and found excessive mental particles suspended in oil."

My engine has been diagnosed as having connecting rod bearing knock, which is indicative of failing connecting rod bearings. Two independent mechanics have told me I need a new engine. I'm submitting this complaint as further evidence for the NHTSA investigation that Honda's Honda Pilot Connecting Rod Bearing Safety Recall had an insufficient of covered vehicles. At the time of purchase and as of today, my VIN is not part of Honda's recall, yet I have experienced connecting rod bearing failure, as have many others. There are several warning Lights including but not limited to ABS, lane assist, trailer assist. So far, my safety is not at risk, but I have a 2 year old grandchild that I drive around multiple times a week. I can’t afford this repair and feel as though I cannot drive this vehicle so I only drive it when absolutely necessary. The vehicle has 82,000 miles on it. Should the engine fail, it's likely that would cause an accident and injury or death. I originally had the vehicle diagnosed because I could hear the noise myself and it was not a normal noise.

Second-row right passenger seat belt buckler is malfunctioning and alerting when the seat belt is buckled. The alert is distracting as a driver and my children can not sit in that seat since we can't tell if they are buckled or not. The first time it malfunctioned was a week or so ago in the middle of May 2026 and the problem has only gotten progressively worse to the point we can't have anyone sit in that seat. I have set up an appointment for the dealership to look at this issue in June. No one else has inspected the vehicle so far.

While driving on the highway at approx 60mph my car completely lost power. I had no warning lights on the dashboard and the only warning I got was an alarm sound right as all the power to the vehicle cut off. I had to use my e-brake to help me stop and coast to the brake down lane. I couldn't get my car completely off the highway lane and had no way of getting out of the vehicle. I was towed off the highway and contacted my dealership. Prior to this the car was idling a little rough in the morning.

I am having an issue with the start stop function on my 2021 Honda Pilot. When active, the start stop struggles to restart after it is engaged at a stop light. There have been two instances in the last two weeks where the vehicle did not restart on its own and needed to be restarted manually. Spoke to the dealer service team and they indicated there were no known recalls and it would be out of pocket for me to diagnose and repair.

- #11739869May 25, 2026ENGINE, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
I set out to make a quick trip to the store after work and the car was hesitating and I looked at the dash and noticed the check engine light was on. I stopped was in the store about 10 minutes when I came out I restarted it and it sounded fine and then engine light was not on. I was about 2 miles in towards home when the braking system failure message came on, steering failure message came on and many other messages. The engine started sounding very loud and knocking. I immediately pulled over and called a tow truck. I had no previous messages come up and the vehicle was running fine before this incident. The auto repair shop that I had it towed to listened to the engine and thinks it sounds like a crank shaft failure.

On [XXX] at 106,266 miles, Brandon Honda (Brandon, FL) diagnosed my 2016 Honda Pilot with DTC P0219A (Air/Fuel Ratio Variation, Cylinders #1 & #2). The dealer quoted $2,637.99 to replace fuel injectors. This is a known manufacturing defect documented in Honda Service Bulletin A20-100 (issued 11/24/2020). Honda acknowledged that debris from the high pressure fuel pump or fuel injector machining process causes internal wear and clogging of the fuel injectors. Honda extended the warranty on this repair to 10 years / 150,000 miles from the original in-service date. My vehicle is approximately 5 months past the 10-year time limit but 44,000 miles UNDER the 150,000-mile limit. Honda denied my goodwill warranty request solely based on the time expiration. This defect affects hundreds of 2016 Pilot owners. Forum threads on [XXX] have accumulated 280,000+ views with 75+ participants reporting the same failure. Many owners received $0 repairs under the bulletin while others — unaware of the bulletin or slightly outside the window — paid $750-$2,600+ out of pocket for a defect that is Honda's manufacturing responsibility. This issue was never issued as a full recall despite being a widespread manufacturing defect. The warranty extension is insufficient — it allows Honda to avoid accountability for vehicles just barely outside an arbitrary time window while the defect is clearly mileage-related (my vehicle is well within mileage limits). Honda should recall this defect or extend coverage for all affected vehicles regardless of the time limitation. My front windshield cracked without any impact. I noticed quite a few honda pilots on the road with almost the exact same crack. It started on the passenger side and went completely across to the driver's side.
