I took my vehicle in due to a recall on the coaxial cable that was causing the electronic to malfunction and make a constant electrical popping sound. Shortly after that was replaced, the multipurpose camera started to malfunction and eventually gave out completely. I have warning lights constantly and cannot use any safety features in the vehicle, not even the cruise control. After much research this is an issue for thousands of Honda owners and is absolutely a safety issue. I’m scared to death to drive this car.

ENGINE, POWER TRAIN
I heard knocking as I was leaving gas station. I was scared about what was going wrong and if it was safe to drive home. I was alone and it was after dark. I took the next day off and took the car to my mechanic. He said it sounded like rod knock but didn’t want to do the engine replacement so he sent me to another mechanic who also said it sounded like the engine needed to be replaced. I didn’t have the money or the time to deal with it so it has been parked for the last five months. Today I took it to the dealer (that I bought it from new) for a diagnostic inspection. They stated that the noise was coming from main shaft, unable to repair, will need to replace engine. Cost estimate to replace engine is $15,964.36. I do not remember a check engine light coming on, only the lights for the driving sensing items. Which I read were also problems on this vehicle. Photos of the inspection report have been uploaded. A mistake was made on the mileage it is 103,203 not 103,703. Thank you for your time.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
While driving down a freeway, my car shuddered and my engine suddenly lost power and was put into limp mode. Mechanic determined it was the high pressure fuel pump that failed. This vehicle was part of the recall for the low pressure fuel pump that was completed. It also had to have fuel injectors replaced under Honda’s extended warranty over faulty injectors.

My 2017 Honda Pilot Touring has experienced ongoing electrical and battery-related issues for several years and has been in and out of authorized Honda dealerships numerous times. The vehicle has been serviced repeatedly at both Fowler Honda in [XXX], and Pensacola Honda in [XXX]. Due to the inability to diagnose the problem, the issue was escalated by Pensacola Honda to American Honda’s technical line. After extensive diagnostics over two days, the technicians informed me that Honda engineers are aware of an issue but currently do not have a solution, although they are working on one. On XXX, while turning left from [XXX] onto [XXX], I had sufficient time to complete the turn and pressed the accelerator to proceed. However, the accelerator became completely unresponsive and the vehicle would not accelerate. My vehicle was left partially in the intersection while an oncoming vehicle approached. The other driver could have easily struck the driver’s side of my vehicle, creating the risk of a serious or fatal accident. Fortunately, a collision was avoided, but this incident demonstrated a significant safety hazard. In addition to this loss of acceleration, the vehicle has experienced recurring starting problems and electrical malfunctions. Pensacola Honda found that the battery tests normally when removed from the vehicle, but does not function properly when installed. Despite numerous repair attempts and escalation to American Honda, the problem remains unresolved. I believe this defect poses a serious safety risk to myself, my passengers, and others on the road due to the potential for sudden loss of acceleration while driving. On May 23, 2026 I was driving family and friends around San Francisco, CA in my 2017 Honda Pilot (48K miles). We were driving up multiple steep hills, up to a 20% grade in some places with a full car of 7 people. The car handled it well. However, as we neared my home 25 miles away, the car started shaking and the check engine light started flashing. We searched online and the advice was to pull over immediately to prevent the car from overheating and causing permanent, expensive damage. We eventually made it home, shaken, and didn't touch the car for a couple days to let it rest. I learned that there is a warranty extension "Warranty Extension TSB 20-100" for what seems like this exact problem concerning the fuel injectors. The spark plugs have been replaced in the last year, which eliminates that as a potential issue. The next week, I took the car to Honda San Carlos where it's been maintained most of its life. I informed them of the symptoms and that the car is eligible for this warranty extension. They tested it and found nothing. I told them that testing it in the shop or driving it around a few minutes on flat ground with one person is not going to replicate the driving conditions we encountered but they didn't seem to care and I had to pay $250 anyway. I took this to another dealership and the guy said it sounded exactly like an Warranty Extension TSB 20-100 issue. They tested it and also could not find anything. I called Honda Corporate and they will also do nothing. This is clearly a safety issue as this problem will happen again at some point. I have a family and young children and do not want to be stuck on the freeway as a road hazard to ourselves and other drivers. Honda has clearly identified this as a problem yet they won't authorize the repair. They are waiting for this to happen again before they'll fix it, and who knows if this ticking time bomb will occur in a safe place or a dangerous one.

POWER TRAIN
While operating my vehicle on a public roadway, the vehicle suffered a sudden, catastrophic loss of transmission hydraulic pressure and vehicle propulsion, accompanied by a dashboard warning light with a blinking "D". The vehicle completely stopped delivering power to the drive wheels while moving with traffic, creating an immediate and severe safety hazard for a rear-end collision on an active road. We pulled into the high school parking lot, stopped the car, then restarted it. It had the error on the dashboard, but we were able to get it safely home, where it was towed to the dealership later. The vehicle was towed to Dick Hannah Honda (the local authorized dealership). The service department scanned the onboard computer (from the parking lot, NO actual physical inspection done) and pulled internal transmission fault codes P0730 (Incorrect Gear Ratio) and P0746 (Pressure Control Solenoid "A" Performance/Stuck Off). Based solely on these electronic fault codes, the dealership stated that the internal mechanics of the ZF 9-speed transmission had completely failed. They stated the transmission is completely unrepairable and quoted a full replacement cost of $11,984.41. Prior to this failure, the vehicle had service documentation and inspection records from authorized Honda franchise technicians, who repeatedly marked the transmission condition and vehicle health check sheets as completely healthy and "GREEN" at every visit for 60,000 miles by American Honda Motor Co. Case Management was contacted (Case #16371194), but they refused any financial goodwill assistance. This sudden operational failure of the ZF 9-speed transmission platform without ANY prior Maintenance Minders given by the computer system. This failure matches the exact software calibration and pressure defects currently cited in ongoing consumer protection litigation involving the 2016-2022 Honda Pilot 9-speed drivetrain.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2016 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that after attempting to use the Push-To-Start to start the vehicle, an abnormal clicking sound was heard and the engine failed to turn over. Several Unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a seized engine that was possibly related to NHTSA Campaign: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was later towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed at the consumer's expense as having a seized engine; however, the vehicle was not repaired due to the VIN not being included in NHTSA Campaign:23V751000(Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 78,962.

I have a 2019 Honda Pilot Touring with an intermittent fault. At apparently random intervals, I'll get the following faults on start: Adaptive Cruise Control Problem Lane Keeping Assist Problem Collision Mitigation System Problem Road Departure Mitigation System Problem Auto High-Beam Problem If I drive the car a couple of miles, there's a 50-50 chance I'll get them the next time the car starts. It's not throwing any fault codes. Had the oil changed, battery checked, cleaned the "H" sign to make sure it wasnt anything dirty on the radar.

STRUCTURE:BODY
Taligate is rusting through near the handle as well as around the right taillight. Another recall for this exact issue is in place for the same year/make/model, yet my vehicle is not included in the recall. Faulty seals allow water to get into the tailgate and rust from the inside-out. Honda has told me they won't help even though it is a known issue (recall).

ENGINE
The engine seized up and car will not start. Luckily, I was trying to start the car in my driveway when this happened, but it would have been dangerous had it happened while I was driving. All of the warning lamps and messages started when the issue begin. The vehicle was inspected and the problem has been reproduced by a service center AND a Honda dealer. I have attached the invoice from the service center. After their diagnosis, I had the car towed to Ourisman Honda in Bethesda, MD because I was hoping to start the recall process with them, however they will not do it because, stangely, my vin # is not included. There is a known recall for this issue (#23V-751) and the recall lists my exact car (2016 Honda Pilot) however, for some reason my vin # is not showing as being included in the recall. The car is experiencing the exact issue that this recall covers, but the Honda dealer will not cover it because my specific vin # isn't listed. This would be a significant expense that I am not able to cover out of pocket, and I have now been without my car for over a week. I am not sure why only certain vin #'s are eligible when there are obviously many other 2016 Honda Pilots experiencing the issue.

Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) regularly misidentifies road geometry on divided highways (specifically [XXX] between [XXX] and [XXX] ). At 55mph, the forward camera tracks the expanding lane lines of dedicated left and right turn bays, actively steering the vehicle into the turn lanes rather than maintaining the straight highway path. 2025 Honda Pilot Elite. Honda Sensing / Adaptive Cruise Control consistently fails to recognize motorcycles traveling directly ahead (approx. 66% failure rate). The system radar/camera bypasses the motorcycle and locks onto the larger passenger vehicle further ahead, creating an imminent rear-end collision risk with the motorcycle.

ENGINE
The vehicle was noticeably chugging when going uphill. After awhile, some warning messages appeared on dashboard— several different messages. The vehicle finally had a complete loss of power as wife and I were returning from a road trip several miles away from home. We took it to a garage where we were at the time and was able to get home. We took it to a nearby mechanic for a diagnostic. We were told that the system was detecting a pinging in the engine. The mechanic said that it is sometimes animals can nibble on electrical and may need a harness replacement. We chose to take the vehicle to Shottenkirk Honda in Huntsville , Alabama for repair. They kept the vehicle for longer than they annticipated and told us that they would have to get a technician from Carrollton, Georgia to look at it. They contacted us over a week later and told us it was the fuel pump. They fixed the pump and the vehicle seemed fine. That was October, 2025. Now, the vehicle is again displaying a chugging when going uphill. I have not carried it for diagnostics yet. I have no issue with the service I received at the dealership. But, on GoodCar VIN check, my vin# returns recalls related to fuel pump and engine loss of power and pinging. I called the dealership and American Honda and was told that no recalls exist for this vehicle. I am submitting this in case there is a pattern of problems for vehicles in my group. I have owned Hondas my whole life and have not had engine troubles until now. I am at 170kmiles. My Honda Odyssey and other Pilot were not and have not had this difficulty. Since the recall for these associated items exist, I would like consideration for the uncommon issues my Pilot is having.

ENGINE
Vehicles auto stop/start turned the engine off while at a stop light. When I accelerated on the gas my car would not go. It said to take it was in neutral so it went into neutral on its own. The entire car appeared to have turned all the way off at this point and I was able to restart and drive.

Loose weatherstripping two yrs and a half into ownership. Risk of water damage that can rust and damage electrical. Many complaints online about the roof rails needing to be replaced. Honda hasn’t issue a recall even though is a well known faulty design.
