SERVICE BRAKES
On May 27, 2013, while approaching a traffic light controlled intersection, I applied the vehicle brakes (depressed the brake pedal) with no response. My vehicle speed was slow enough to allow me to make a right turn at the intersection without damage to my vehicle or others in the vicinity. Within a few seconds (less than 5) the brakes started responding correctly with no subsequent occurrence, to date.

There is a crackling/popping noise coming through the speakers and then a sudden loud noise and the audio system will shut off. The warning sounds from the safety features also stop working when the loud noise happens. The noise is quite shocking when you are driving. The audio system has to be restarted to work again.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while at a complete stop, the vehicle stalled due to a defect with the Auto STOP/START feature. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated during the failure. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions where a software update was performed, the starter motor, starter switch, fuel injector and valve adjuster were all replaced; however, the failure persisted and worsened over time. The manufacturer was contacted and filed a complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

AIR BAGS
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP CHARGES $100.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE. I WAS TOLD IT'S NOT PART OF THE AIRBAG RECALL AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY. MY VEHICLE IS 20 YEARS OLD. I BELEIVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH AIRBAGS SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE RECALL. IN THE CASE OF AN AIRBAG ACTIVATION AND I AM INJURIED OR KILLED FROM A DEFECTIVE AIR BAG. I HAVE PROOF THAT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WAS ADVISED ON DECEMBER 14, 2022. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR SIX (6) MONTHS AND CANNOT GET IT CORRECTED.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
The Entertainment system makes popping and crackling sounds and will cut out. This is very distracting while driving. It does not allow you to use the screen at all including to view backing up. I contacting Honda Corp and was told to get a formal diagnosis which is scheduled for June 16, 2023. Was also told this has happened many times before in other models of pilots.

POWER TRAIN, UNKNOWN OR OTHER
The transmission has slipped now twice while driving. The car keep on giving jerks hard after the car starts moving The car is in automatic drive mode. During acceleration, the car will jolt forward, also when using the brakes. The dealer did recognize the problem but said it is not covered by warranty and that transmission needed to be flushed… which was going to cost $740 and parts extra. After initial diagnostics recommended to flush transmission fluid 3 times. For even Diagnose they charged me $179 . I Have done maintenance on time Transmission fluid was change before 30000 miles for the first time and now they are asking to flush it 3 times ,As per Honda Manual recommendation every 30000 miles we need to change Transmission fluid . They should replace either Transmission or do the service free of cost under powertrain warranty(60000 miles) as I only have 46800 miles within 4 years of purchase.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Car is at 56K mileage. I was at a stop light engine was running, when I took my foot off the brake and tried to accelerate the engine died, the dashboard flashed a collision warning, (there were no cars or animals near my car), then all the screens dashboard behind steering wheel and on middle console all went blank. I restarted the car and made it home fine. Drove the car the next day for several stops (street and highway driving), then the same thing happened at a stop light and it restarted and I made it home fine. The third day there were no problems while driving 30+ miles streets and highway. The fourth day, drove about 15 miles to work and all was fine. Drove about 13 miles street and highway just fine. Ran an errand and car would not restart. Pressing the engine start button resulting in clicking but not engine start, headlight flashing, and the dashboard behind steering flashing various warning messages (cycled through several as I held the start button down, collision, braking system failure, power steering, etc.) but never started. Let it rest for ~3 hours and still would not start, same result with clicking and flashing headlights and warning messages.

Have a known hacker. They have shown experience on remote hacking using TimeStomping and ECM modifications. I work as an Amazon Delivery driver in Kentucky. My Hackers are my Employer and the Operations Manager. The same hacking to their company vehicles are being done to employees personal vehicles. Forced Limp Mode, Power distribution, Fake sensors malfunctions, and Alarm controls are reoccurring. My entire communications network is compromised. When I called Honda (888) 528-7876) from my Boost Mobile iPhone, the automated system did not recognize my T-Mobile Android phone number that is registered on MyHonda. The person I spoke to asked my name, Vin number, and then asked if the T-Mobile phone number is the one associated with my Honda Pilot. After I mentioned the automated system did not have that number, I was to my number popped up as a caller ID. 2 different phones on 2 different networks acting as one!?!? 05/24/2023 At 11:55 am, I travel from my work to tha gas station. I put air in a tire that seems to leak air sporadically. After about 2 mins, my pilot power systems light turns on. I have already had my battery and systems tested less the 2 months prior, but travel down hwy for 15 miles. While having battery looked at, my pilot deactivated the air-bag system. The Auto Zone employee attempted to pull check engine codes. The first 2 attempts the pilot would not read anything at all. After I explained the previous instances when this had happened before with multiple other vehicles, he was finally able to read multiple (undisplayed) codes. As I travelled to the mechanic, I received a mystery call. Did not answer, but called back on android phone. It was a fund raising auto number. My pilot is hacked and using false time stamps. I was told this was discovered before, but never addressed as a form of undetectable hacking.

The driver side door doesn’t open when unlocked. You have to hit the lock button multiple times before the door can detach from the driver side panel. And the door doesn’t shut when you close it. Something wrong with the lock.

I brought the vehicle in on March 23, 2023, the side view mirror has seemed to shake for some time, we were told we just needed a new mirror and at $400, decided to not immediately repair, approximately 2 weeks later I went to the car wash and the sideview mirror came out and smashed against my window. I am told my vehicle is not part of the recall, but I had mentioned the mirror seeming to be not secure in the past.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Vehicle was being driven in a construction zone on the highway when the CMBS (collision mitigation braking system) error message appeared on the dashboard. This is the 2nd occurrence of this issue (1st occurrence also happened while driving through construction zone) When error occurs all advanced safety features (auto-emergency braking, lane keep, etc) become disabled. I believe there is a fundamental design flaw in how Honda's Sensing system handles obstacles such as temporary construction zones. American Honda claims the only way to turn off the light is to pay a diagnostic fee and labor charge. A safety design flaw should not be the responsibility of the vehicle owner to pay to fix.

Vehicle sitting in driveway on hot day started alarm beeping, headlights and tail lights remained on and dashboard warning lights going on and off as if a poltergeist possesed. Car could not be locked. Depleted car battery resulting in new battery being required. New battery did not resolve problem Car drives without problems except some dashboard functions no longer visible Dealer states Smart Access Control Unit, part #38320-TG7-A32, is needed. Part is on backorder from Honda with changing dates of availability. Car is not safe to drive with children and subject to theft since it cannot be locked.

The contact owns a 2003 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact attempted to start the vehicle however, the ignition switch failed to turn. The ignition switch warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
My car is fairly new (2019 Hond Pilot EXL with 43K miles) but recently "Emissions Systems Problem" warning came up. I was going to take it to service center for diagnostic but the warning went away. I though it was just temporary issue but after some time warning is showing up again. I see some of the VIN with the same year and model were included in fuel injector fix for this warning by the Honda but my VIN is not included. I think this is not that old of a car and Honda needs to address this safety issue and my VIP should be included to fix by Honda with no cost. Thanks. Kumar

POWER TRAIN
The car had problems with automatic start/stop function. During this time the car had a transmission that failed. The automatic start/stop function was fixed by the dealership and the new transmission that was installed failed. The car is currently on its third transmission at 85,000 miles and this transmission is starting to give the car problems where the information system tells the driver there are transmission problems that are present randomly when driving. These are not currently repeatable enough for the dealership to see. The car had 3 transmissions under 88,000 miles, and is probably going to be on its fourth transmission soon. Also the honda information system does not work properly with the phone and only connects 70% of the time.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
I purchased the vehicle brand new in 2021. At this time I don't feel safe driving the vehicle due to the following issues I'm having: The automatic braking system will engage without notice. On 5/20/23 I was at driving at 60 MPH at 2:00am and the car slammed on the brakes for no reason, there was NO other vehicles on the road in front of me or besides me at the time of the incident. On 5/21/22 I was driving around 45MPH and I went next to a vehicle that was parked on the should of the road, When I approached the vehicle the brakes engaged almost causing a collision with the vehicle that was driving behind me witch it happen to be a Semi Truck. 12/22/22 While driving on HWY 18th the vehicle brakes engaged for reason or warning while driving on straight line. This happens 99% of the time when I drive the vehicle. The warning yellow braking light would illuminate and the steering wheel will shake or vibrate for no apparent reason when cars are coming the opposite way. This is extremely scary situation to have in a brand new vehicle. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership in hope of repair but nothing has been done. I started having this concerns a month or so after the vehicle was purchased, and the only solution I was given by the dealership was to disengage the auto braking program, But I don't think that's the solution. This coming Thursday 5/24/23 the vehicle will be inspected. ( this will be the second or third time the vehicle will be in the shop due to the same issue. Thank you for taking the time in reviewing my concern.

According to the dealership, there was a ABS Sensor that went bad. Dropped off the 2023 Pilot Elite the other day and they said the part might be delivered in August 2023. The incident happened twice and everything went dead. The dashboard lit up with every warning under the sun in terms of electrical failures - Power Steering failure (Steering assist reduced), Anti-Lock Brake Problem (Brake performance may be reduced), Vehicle stability assist system problem (Reduced Traction and handling), Hill start assist problem, TSA system problem - see your dealer, Hill Descent Control system problem (apply brake when descending). I believe major problems with the design of the sensors/electrical circuitry might exist. But, I will leave that to the experts. I appreciate the help on what you find out.

1. When Engine Idle Stop is engaged vehicle cuts off or stalls when you let up off of brakes. - Honda could not tell me why it was doing it. - no warning -car cut off completely in the middle of traffic at a stop light during rush hour. I was able to get it to cut back on after 2 minutes. - I fear for the safety of my family while in this vehicle. 2. Malfunction of stereo system cause a continuous screeching static sound through speakers. GPS and all other voice function stop working at this time.

According to the dealership, there was a battery failure, a wheel sensor failure, and possibly other things going on as well. The car was rendered useless. ABS stopped working, multiple transmission failures, traction control failures, power steering failures, brake failures, total sensor failures, and overall rendered the car dangerous and unsafe to drive. The car became a heavy, metal, killing machine with zero safety features. The trunk is also unable to be opened and the memory seats do not function. The car is still at the dealership 3 times with no resolution and has been sitting there now for weeks. Confirmed by the dealer to be a major flaw. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer repeatedly. The dashboard list up like a literal Christmas tree. There was around 15-20 warnings on the dashboard.

POWER TRAIN, ENGINE
While stopped at an intersection, the vehicle's Auto Start/Stop technology engaged. When driver attempted to drive, the Auto Start/Stop wouldn't disengage, as a result the car would not start. The vehicle prompted the driver to put the car in park and push the ignition button to start the car, however nothing happened, meaning the car would not start. After about 2 minutes, the car was able to start and the driver was able to continue driving. An immobilized vehicle at an intersection put its passengers at risk, including 2 children under the age of 3. Dealer will be notified of this occurrence.
