I've had the engine and catalytic convertors fail on my 2017 Honda Pilot which is equipped with the J35Y6 engine. It is currently available for inspection as the vehicle sits unable to be driven safely from place to place. The vehicle is unable to be driven or carry passengers safely due to a constant misfire in the engine. This problem has been reproduced multiple times by an independent service center which had the vehicle for 3 weeks. No governmental agency or insurance representative has inspected the engine for failure. There were warning lamps that would come in and then clear on their own up and till the engine failure. The warning lamps would first appear while driving at highway speeds and then gradually started showing up while driving in city traffic.

Auto Engine Idle Stop issue. Engine would stop at intersections and not restart, which was a safety risk. I told the dealership this was a known defect affecting many vehicles and they said no, it was just a “bad battery.” They replaced the battery.

On [XXX] I was traveling south on [XXX] from Omaha, NE to Bella Vista, AR. There were no other cars in view either behind me, ahead of me or traveling north in the opposite lanes, nor any debris on the highway when I heard a loud explosion. I thought I had blown a tire but had no problems steering the vehicle. I immediately pulled over to stop on the shoulder of the road. I got out of the car and saw that my sunroof had exploded. Small pieces of glass were everywhere. The time was late morning and the temperature was not especially hot. I reported this to Honda and to my insurance company. On June 18 my local dealer replaced the moonroof. My cost was $691.49. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Today, while I was driving, the vehicle information display suddenly started flashing warnings indicating that the following systems were experiencing errors, leading to potentially reduced brake performance. I was advised to take the car to the dealer for diagnosis and immediate remediation: Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Hill Start Assist Lane Departure and Correction Assist Brake Hold System However, when we stopped and attempted to turn off the car in the usual manner, it wouldn't shut down. It took two attempts to finally turn off the car. The indicators began flashing again when the car was restarted, but after turning off the car again and waiting for 10 minutes, then restarting it, the warning messages disappeared. I managed to take pictures of at least two warnings as they were displayed on the vehicle information screen: Hill Start Assist and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). This is a brand new car, and it's concerning to encounter such issues with only 1,215 miles on the odometer. I request that the NHTSA investigate this matter with Honda’s manufacturing to ensure these problems are clarified and rectified before they lead to any accidents.

On [XXX] as I was driving northbound on the [XXX] in California going the speed limit there was a sudden loud crash coming from the engine block. After the loud crash, there was a dramatic drop in engine power causing the car to drastically lose speed. Noticing something wrong with the situation and all the service lights displayed on the dash I quickly got off the freeway and pulled off into a parking lot of industrial buildings. Then called a tow to take the car to the Ocean Honda dealership in Ventura CA. The dealership stated that it was a factory issue that they would resolve with Honda. Giving me a loaner they sent me on my way. On [XXX] Ocean Honda contacted me stating that Honda has not approved the work order and that I either have to pay $13,000 for a new engine or tow my vehicle out. And have until EOD of [XXX] to decide. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Since 2021 the vehicle has stalled everywhere we go and has a gas/electrical burn fume. The vehicle had stalled in the middle of the highway and didn't allow us to shift it into any gears while flashing all dashboard lights. The vehicle was towed to Legend driven Honda where they couldn't find any issues and said they just reset the transmission code. For our peace of mind, we thought it would be best to have the full work up on the transmission since the dealership seemed incompetent with our vehicle's malfunction. The vehicle continued to stall and even had trouble starting up at times with the continued gas fumes. Well, it wasn't long before the issue returned and we were back to where we started, along with our A/C unit failing on us. We left the vehicle idle in the driveway for a bit as it was a safety concern for our families' wellbeing. We later received a recall notice on the auto-idle stop mechanism which we figured must have been the issue all along. We took it back to the dealership where they did their full inspection and came up with our transmission needing its regular full work-up which we had proclaimed that we already had done in the earlier months. After the alleged recall fix, the problem continued. We took the vehicle back and were told it was our battery and recommended our timing belt be replaced otherwise it would cause major issues down the road(it was concerning to us as these issues were never brought up the multiple times we had brought it in for the initial issues). Surely, we had it all fixed and replaced for the safety of our families well being having had our vehicle stall numerous times on the road which has now caused our children to be frightened of driving anywhere. Well on return home from the dealership, the vehicle did not stall, 2 hours later went to turn it on, it did not want to start and made a loud knocking noise. Currently towed to a different dealership

Dear Sir/Madam, My Vehicle stalls and stutters suddenly when driving. It does not accelerate the way it should. Engine light is on. I called Honda Customer Service and even though it says "Fuel Pump recall" on my vehicle they say they don't know when parts are going to be available. Their responses were very evasive. They said it was a placeholder and were not willing to help me. They don't have any concrete responses to my questions. I asked them when will the fuel pump parts be available for dealers to fix the recall and they asked me to check back in February. I got a letter in December stating that after Jan 2nd they will help with this issue. Now they are saying Feb. My vehicle maybe unsafe to drive and if the engine seizes or is ruined because of the delay in fixing this recall, I would be at a total loss. Please help me. Thanks so much! My vehicle is equipped with a feature that turns it off at brakes stops and restarts when the gas is pushed (example - at a stop sign). Honda did a recall and replaced a part but this feature on my vehicle still stalls and doesn’t start instantaneously with the gas, causing a noticeable delay when I’m trying to go from a stoplight. Hondas remedy has been a button to turn this off - bit it must be turned off every single time the car is started and I’m afraid for my teenagers to take my 2019 Pilot because they may not remember the to do this. Honda at one point did turn this feature off on my vehicle but when I got a new battery put in, the computer reset and it is now active again. They informed me they now do not have the ability to turn off this feature due to a government legality over fuel efficiency so I feel very frustrated and disappointed.

While driving the vehicle, all the aforementioned systems came on the cars dashboard stating that all of them have been turned off, and now there is a brake system issue with the vehicle. The car has 35000 miles and has not been in any accident or collision. Currently there is no warranty on the vehicle, but given that this is something that is impacting the safety of properly operating the vehicle and it’s safety equipment is not being made accessible to leverage is a major concern for a possible accident.

While driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly stalled, and many notifications came up on the dash. Some of the warnings include: emissions system warning, power steering system problem, trailer stability assist problem, power steering problem, hill start assist problem, vehicle stability assist problem, all wheel drive system problem. While driving on highway, the vehicle stalled, lost the ability to steer and brake, and had to roll to the side of the road. There was total engine failure. Dealership diagnostics indicate a problem with crank shaft/ connecting rod, and the entire engine needs to be replaced. There is an existing recall for my year, make, and model of vehicle 2016 Honda Pilot for this exact problem, but it has not been applied to my VIN yet. The recall needs to be extended to cover my vehicle. My family's safety was compromised by complete engine failure on a highway during rush hour.

I have a 2019 Honda Pilot (VIN [XXX] ), little over 70,000 miles on it. In early December 2023, I started having problems with screening flashing in cycles every warning and failure message for the vehicle. I get a cylinder 4 misfire on my person code reader. Honda Metro in Indian Trail NC tells me this is fuel injectors, they are on national backorder with no guaranteed delivery AND it will cost me over $1200 to fix there. I asked if it was warrantied or recalled and was told no. Researching I found that the 2014-2018 fuel injectors were recalled. Also, found the 2014 -2020 were same injectors so not sure why the 2019 - 2020 are not covered by same recall. I am reporting a problem with the 2016 Honda Pilot audio system. It sounds identical to the reported problems that have lead to a recall for the 2018-2022 models. The system works fine initially, but after 30 minutes of driving, the system becomes filled with static noise. The static noise starts out low, but quickly gets to the point where nothing else can be heard. This is across all input channels: AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, XM Satellite, etc.. The system then eventually shuts down and no sound can be heard.

With the IDLE function ON, the vehicle fails to start once the engine shuts down. The car suddenly stop and shut off at traffic lights, stop sides. Someone almost hit me 4 times during last month with my kids inside when the car fails to start. There is no recall about this problem yet.

Vehicle has emission trouble light with code P219B. Dealer states fuel injectors need to be replaced. Service Bulletin #21-010 Defect 6E600 / Symptom N9400 was issued by Honda for the same problem relating to the same year and model vehicle with the same engine. However, this service bulletin does not apply to my VIN.

The auto start stop feature in my car appears very weak. I believe the dealer replaced the battery once early on and then I have had to replace the battery at my own expense again. Now, after a new battery, it is still appearing weak. I believe this feature is draining the batteries and causing a safety issue as my car seems to be delayed or struggles when trying to start back up. The auto start stop also was not working properly when I purchased the vehicle and was “fixed” right after I purchased the car.

My 2019 Honda Pilot with approximately 74K miles suddenly display a transmission problem warning. We were on a freeway, slowing down from approximately 70 MPH to 50 MPH. As the vehicle slowed, it shudder, the speed dropped and clanking noise was heard as i pressed the gass pedal to gain some forward momentum. The transmission warninig displays comes on, and the speed dropped. We limped to the nearest Hondas dealer in Carson , CA. It appears there's is an ongoing class action lawsiut by Hondas Pilots owner due to same problems that I just experienced. I am shocked for such a problem with Hondas vehicles, with low mileage. Not expected this with Hondas
