While driving the vehicle at around 45 MPH it suffered a complete loss of power for 3-5 seconds. The dashboard lights illuminated and then the vehicle restarted without having to restart via the ignition and all of the dash lights turned off. This has happened intermittently on two prior occasions. No electrical issues were evident, new battery and charging system appears to be functioning normally. The contact stated that the dealer found that the issue was a faulty positive battery terminal connector. It was replaced.

Components that failed: engine blew up on a Freeway; car experienced oil leaks; air conditioner stopped working; electrical problems- windows and sunroof suddenly open on their own. Facts: In Feb. 2019, I bought a certified preowned 2016 Honda Pilot with 40K miles. I drove it for less than a year before COVID-19 began and I started working from home. Shortly after I bought the car, it started leaking engine oil, which Honda later repaired. In summer 2021, the air conditioner system stopped working. On June 4, 2023, I was driving the vehicle on the 57 Freeway, Northbound, when my engine suddenly blew up and failed in the middle of the Freeway. The sudden engine failure put me and others at risk of serious injury. Since purchasing my car, I had my car regularly serviced by a Honda dealership. After inspecting my car, the Honda dealership said they did not know what caused the engine to blow up. There were no warnings, messages, or other symptoms before the engine failure.

Experiencing what I believe to be a low idle misfire around the 1200 to 2000 rpm’s. I don’t know whether this will lead to an engine failure at a crucial time in traffic. I have 50k miles and this has been reoccurring since 35k miles. Blogs has suggested that this is a common problem with this model.

There was a recall on the fuel injectors system and now this problem is causing the computer system to send false codes to the car and then the warning “fuel emissions problem signs turns on showing false code problems and then they go off and back on” In April I had fuel injections done and now in December I got the emissions system problem signal and was told at a honda service location that it was faulty Catalina converter problem but the emissions system problem signal tuned off on its own a day later, mean while the honda service place told me it would cost me $2287 to correct a problem that didn’t need to get repaired it’s this faulty emissions system computer system that needs to be updated on all these vehicles with this emission system problem. If they up date the program that they use on the emissions system we will not have to pay for false readings codes that are being generated because of this false reading by the emissions system soft ware.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The Emission System Fault message was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the cause of the failure was unknown. The contact was informed to add premium fuel and fuel injection cleaner however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rocker arm oil pressure switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,400.

On Dec.04, 2023 I tried to drive vehicle to got to work, and there was no power in D- mode. I pressed the gas padal to gove more power and then the vehicle made a loude sound like as if I was crash into something, and it did not move as usual, there was no power. When I tried to shift the gear back to P, it did not move and the stick was stucked. Later after several tries I was able to drive the car to the dealership and explained what happened. AFter Investgating they concluded there was no problem witht he car. I took it home and drove until Dec, 18, before the vehicle actingd again. It did not move when the gear shit to D or L mode. when I pressed the gas pedal vehicle jumps and stated to move at about 5 miles per hour. As I was giving more gas at about 27 miles per hour there was a hard shifit of the gear and vehicle jumped (jerking?). I took it to the dealership and they were able to repeat what I explained to them and quoted $8400 for the transmission repair, and said I donot have warrenty and have to pay for the cost. I explained to them this is not only my vehicle, but there are other hond apolit have the same issue. I have contacted Honda Motor Corp USA regarding this and they told me they donot act based on what is on the web and social media.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while his wife was driving and stopped at a traffic light, the light turned green, and the contact's wife depressed the accelerator pedal however, the vehicle failed to respond as intended. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the engine seized. The vehicle became inoperable in traffic on a busy street. Additionally, the other drivers were honking horns. The contact's wife was able to restart the vehicle and drive the vehicle to her residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a seized piston and a fractured rod. About 9 days ago our Honda Pilot (parked, off, keys out of ingnition) had a malfunction in the drivers side heated seat and caught fire burning half the seat and the door, this could have happened while driving which makes this a massive safety issue, I had previously had my car checked out only days prior to incident and nothing was found. There was no indication, warning lights anything to tell us this would happen No one has checked the car since because we have no money and the car is no longer legal to drive

Sunroof glass exploded: While driving in light traffic -- approximately 65 mph -- I heard a loud crash exploding sound and then the sound of glass breaking. No other vehicles were near me but I quickly scanned my front, back, and side windows and mirrors and nothing was broken. No warnings on instrument panel. I could hear wind coming in the vehicle and realized it was coming from the sunroof. I pulled off at the next exit and inspected the top of my Honda Pilot. There was about an 8–10-inch hole in the sunroof glass above the driver's seat with jagged glass angled outward from the hole. No signs of any other damage such as feathers from a bird or scratches from a rock. Just a hole and broken glass. I continued to the drive to my home -- about 20 miles. By the time I got home, more than half of the glass had broken off, leaving an opening about 18 X 30 inches or more. Upon closer inspection, it was clear there was no other damage from other objects just as a rock or animal/bird. It was a very frightening and unnerving experience, especially driving on interstate traffic. I contacted my Honda dealer, and it was suggested I contact Honda customer service. We have filed a claim with our auto insurance.

I was sitting at a light. The car started idling funny. Then stalled. Never started again. Dealer is telling me something is loose in the engine. I saw a recall for honda pilots, but the vin numbers were XX1 and GG0. My vin is [XXX] , what is the difference. *The engine failed. Yes available for inspection. *If engine fails while driving on highway. Car completely shut down. * No dealer did not open up engine because I can't afford to pay for them to look and see what happened would cost roughly around 1,000.00. *Dealer looked at it just told me that something is loose in engine. Suggest I put in new or rebuilt engine. * Yes the engine light came on about 30 seconds before car completely shut down. - #11560896December 19, 2023ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2017 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, he observed a ticking sound coming from the engine compartment and the vehicle started to lose motive power. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced due to the rod bearing fracturing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and complaint was filled. The contact believed that failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.

I have a 2016 Honda Pilot Touring and just recently had to have the engine replaced at 135k miles due to crankshaft failing, causing damage to the engine. This happened before the recall for the crankshaft came out. Honda is trying to say my VIN is not covered. NHTSA recall report states production dates of May 2016-June 2016. Sticker on my Pilot says manufactured 05/16. Can't wait to see how Honda will try to wiggle their way out of reimbursing me for engine replacement.

My 2016 Honda Pilot Touring keeps stalling at traffic lights and randomly on the road. We just took it to the dealer last week and received the "we can't replicate the stalling, please bring it back when it happens again." They checked the battery and found it healthy. A couple times, the car has refused to restart until several minutes after the stall and sometimes it has taken several presses of the "Start" button before it finally engages the starter. The car completely shuts down when this occurs. Nothing works.

On December 14, 2023 I noticed there was an orange spot and several smaller orange areas that appeared under the clearcoat on my front bumper. I was unable to remove them through hand washing and waxing. I decided to take it in to two local body shops who pointed out to me that the fender was misaligned. After further review we found paint peeling and cracking on and under the hood as well as the painted area around the engine components. In addition, seam filler was left exposed on the roof in multiple spots, not prepped correctly, and just painted over. The pin stripe installed by the dealership was also peeling off. Furthermore, the hood was painted (twice as thick) and other painted panels had a different paint thickness. I contacted the selling dealer directly (missed during PDI), and my nearest dealership to report these issues and to start case with Honda for a resolution.

Auto start/stop function. The auto start/stop engaged and the vehicles engine stopped while we were at a red light. When the light turned green and I released the brake the starter engaged but very slowly and failed to start the engine. I attempted to start the vehicle again but it needed to be in park, which was taking time engaged. We were blocking other vehicles from making a protected turn during this. On the 3rd attempt to restart the vehicle restarted. This has not been inspected or or reproduced. No warning lamps other than vehicle must be in park to start.
