The engine start/stop intermittently fails to restart after idle stop. Yes, available for inspection upon request. I am unable to restart my car after an idle stop which causes danger by causing traffic jams and my vehicle to be idle on the road. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer or insurance company. There were no messages of failure.

The car was making a lot of noise, so we took it to the shop. Upon investigation, they told us we were lucky we hadn't had a catastrophic failure as the frame was rusted through. We were told not to drive it further. The car has been well taken care of.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH and making a turn, there was an abnormal loud banging sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated that she looked around and could not determine the cause of the sound. The contact stated that she continued driving; however, the failure recurred while driving on several occasions. The contact stated that she pulled to the side of the road on the last occasion. The contact stated that her husband inspected the vehicle and noticed that the sway bar had fractured and was separated from the bracket on the rear driver's side. The contact stated that her husband tied the sway bar, and she was able to slowly drive to the dealer. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was due to a manufacturer defect and had occurred because the sway bar was not thick enough. The dealer then sent a claim with photos of the failure to the manufacturer, who approved the purchase of a new part and the repair of the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

I purchased my 2017 pilot in Oct 2022, when I test drove the car I asked the sales rep is it normal for it to take off like this with a little hesitation. He said yes and I believed him since I was use to CVT transmissions. A month later I had to take it back to the dealership for service with my RPM fluttering. After 8 hours of sitting there I ended up leaving the car and going home and picked up the next day. After all that, they told me that the did several flushes and had a software update. Now fast forward to March 2023, I am having problems again when going into second gear. I have only put 11,386 miles on my car in over a year. This year has a lot of issues with the transmissions. I bought my car certified and I will never buy another Honda. I think it should be some type of recall on this issue. You should not have engine problems on a HONDA (so everyone says they are the best) at this low millage. Not sure how to handle this or who to reach out too. Maybe get a lawyer.

The car since purchased was juddering between rpms, eventually the emissions and check engine light came on and prompted us to take to dealership. The dealership said this was part of a recall and both problems would be fixed at no cost and we would get an extended warranty on the parts and labor. That sounds great. The problem though is the pilot has been in the shop since January 29th! We have been given 4 different Eta's of when the part would come in and they all keep passing by! No end in sight.

- #11575735March 6, 2024FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving 35-40 MPH on two occasions, the vehicle jerked and stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was unable to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that he turned on the hazard lights and was able to restart the vehicle after 5 minutes and continued driving. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 50-55 MPH, the vehicle stalled abruptly, nearly causing a crash. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that an abnormal sound and vibration were coming from the fuel pump. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact that the dealer would put the vehicle as priority on the waitlist due to the symptoms of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where diagnostic test code P0007 was retrieved, and the dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP). The dealer informed the contact that the HPFP needed to be replaced prior to performing the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

This complaint is regarding safety recall for 2019 Honda Pilot for "fuel pump impellers" (NHTSA Recall Number [XXX]). It was published in November 2023 but Honda dealers still don't have the parts available to do the repair. The Honda dealerships that I have called say that it likely won't be available for another 6 months. I use the car for business purposes and having an open safety recall on a car creates a significant liability issue for me. Please assist with pressuring Honda to quickly fix the safety recall issue. Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I was driving on [XXX] and I suddenly started seeing that my vehicle gearshifting was a bit and I got a notification that there was a transmission problem. I immediately pulled over and turned off the vehicle for a few mins and then restarted it and the alert icon went away. Then as I was driving, I stopped at the signal and then tried to accelerate when the signal turned green, the gear shifting wasnt working correctly. I eventually took this to a mechanic and he told its a transmission problem. Then I took it to a transmission expert and he said that its something which I should take to a honda service technician since they would have advanced equipment for it. I took it to a dealership and they now said that I have to replace the transmission for the vehicle. Looking up online, there has been plenty of reports of issues with the 9 speed transmission in Honda but there hasnt been a recall for the 2017 Honda Pilot. Here are a few links [XXX] [XXX] https://www.google.com/search? [XXX] Now the dealership is asking me to pay close to $9000 to fix this issue. I tried to reach out to Honda customer support online and they didnt help either. I dont know how I should approach this and hence reaching out to NHTSA. - #11575633March 5, 2024ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while his partner was driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to a dealer and was diagnosed with a defective starter; however, the failure persisted after the starter was replaced. Upon further investigation, the contact was informed that the engine had failed due to a damaged connecting rod bearing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was offered a payment plan to help with the cost of a new engine. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) which was linked to the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

When I’m stopped and try to drive my car it sometimes dies. It’s a big safety concern and happens often and when I have my kids in the car. I can’t get it to start again for a little while. The lights come on the dashboard but it won’t start at all until a while after trying.

The car already service once at the Honda dealership and they seal the cargo area gap. They said it’s manufactured defect and they need to reseal it. Water damage of trunk cargo area, cargo carpet and possibly car sensors on back of the car causing sensor malfunction. I am going to bring the car back to dealership and have them check the car again.

1) First and most annoying is the start button displays code on the screen "keyless start system problem ". Its done it for about two three now. There is no recall for my VIN. 2) Back wheels brakes make very loud kicking noise when car put in reverse and moves in reverse. It started 4 years ago. I took it to dealership and they said breaks are fine and they don't know why its kicking. In cold weather break sensor displays warning "apply break before putting in park" while breaks are applied. So it can't sense that breaks are applied. 3)blue ray DVD player quit working years ago. 4) Transmission is jerking when switches to third gear. This car has 56000 miles. 5) Roof molding in the front came off while driving. The clips somehow broke and it flew away. This car has been parked in the garage during the day and driven carefully with all needed oil changes and one owner. It should not have this problems. 6) the tires fell apart when car was 4 years old with about 25000 miles on it. The dealership said they don't know why and its was not normal. The top of the tires pilled off in chanks.

Shortly after 60k warranty expired, check engine light came on. We went to dealer right away and were told the torque converter needed to be replaced to prevent permanent damage. The repair was quoted at over $2000.00. We left the car with service and contacted Honda corporate. They paid half, but still left us with bill over $1000.00. I have heard of this issue with other 2018 Pilots. We had the repair done and have not had any other problems, but we were told that, if this became a recall in the future, we could get our money back. There needs to be a recall done for torque converters on 2018 Pilots. Thank you.

I own a 2018 Honda Pilot (VIN number ending in [XXX] ) which was purchased from Perfection Honda on July 14, 2018. I am the only owner of the car and have taken the car to the dealer for all required maintenance services at the recommended time intervals. The car began stuttering after a stop on [XXX]. I took the car immediately to Perfection Honda and they stated that the issue was the front engine mount despite my concerns about the transmission. They replaced the front engine mount and flushed the transmission fluid and returned the car to me on [XXX]. The car had the same issue on [XXX] and I had to return the car to the dealer. Approximately one week later they stated that there was no issue and returned the car to me. On [XXX] the car had the same issue and had to be towed to the dealer. This time they stated it was the fuel pump, which had been recalled. They replaced the fuel pump and returned the car to me on [XXX]. On [XXX] the car had the same issue of stuttering upon acceleration from a stop and had to be towed again to the dealer. On [XXX] the service personnel called to inform me that a new transmission was needed. When the car first began experiencing the issue, I had had the car for five years and three months, three years of which had restricted driving due to the COVID shutdown in 2020 and in three months during 2021 when I was out of the country for travel. The car now has 57,380 miles. The issue began when the car had 54,079 miles. While there was fortunately no accident, the stalling after a stop and continued stuttering of the transmission is a significant safety issue. Each time I had my two children in the car with me and had to pull to the side of the road to avoid being rear ended. While other 2018 Honda Pilots have active transmission and engine recalls, my specific vehicle is not covered by those TSBs. Honda has stated that there are no active recalls on my vehicle. The car just stopped while being driven in the freeway around December 2022. It was towed to the dealership and they said that the engine "seized." We wrote a letter to Honda and they said that it was our fault (car has very little miles- it's a family car). The engine light was never resolved even after engine was replaced. Honda then came out with a recall for 2016 Honda Pilot for engine seizing but they said my VIN did not qualify although this was the exact same issue. I tried reaching out with them to no avail. I am afraid to transport my children in this vehicle and I have already spend over 10k fixing it. It also feels unethical to sell the vehicle knowing it's defective. If possible, please look into the VIN's that are part of the recall since I am afraid there are a lot more cars driving in the freeway from the manufacturer that has the same issue which pose a safety concern to the passengers and the cars around it.
