ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I have a 2016 Pilot Touring that is giving me a perplexing problem. After having the audio system turned on for a few minutes (regardless of whether the car engine is on or off), I start hearing static noise - faintly at first, then it builds louder and louder until it overcomes whatever I was listening to. It happens whether I am listing to radio, iPod, Bluetooth, or phone. Doesn't matter whether I am listening to music, podcast, or audiobook. The static is in front and rear, left and right. It gets so loud that finally there is no way to hear anything else. My mechanic said could be make a fire because the fan is not working to make radio works good.and you know radio is very important to every cars.

The backup camera on my 2020 Honda Pilot shows green and purple blobs on the image. These colors make it very difficult for me to safely use the camera to back up. The guiding lines are hard to see and images of objects or people beside or behind the car are covered by these green and purple colors. This is very dangerous. I have seen online that many others have the same issue. I have completed the recall of the cables to the camera but that did not address this issue. The camera is almost useless now. All other images on the dash screen are fine.

ENGINE
With no prior warning while driving on the freeway, two warning messages appeared, Emission systems malfunction and transmission system malfunction.” At the same time the D started to blink. We started to lose power to the wheels. Luckily we made it to an off ramp. If this had happened someplace else it could have caused a major accident. We had to have it towed to the Honda dealer. It was caused by a rear bank spool valve failure.

BACK OVER PREVENTION
The contact owns a 2022 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while reversing and attempting to park the vehicle, the contact became aware that the center display failed to display a rearview image, compromising the back-over prevention system. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the media-oriented system transport cable. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V431000 (Back Over Prevention); and the VIN was included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was unknown.

Unsure what component or system is failing. From purchase of vehicle, there has always been hesitation when accelerating from a stop. Vehicle was taken in several times while under warranty. On at least one occasion, dealership did not even address concern on paperwork. Dealership suggested on 2 occasions that transmission fluid was cause and needed changing. Transmission fluid change at 33,000 miles(when not needed) and also at 103,000 miles. Vehicle was taken in recently due to issue possibly being related to recall. Recall has been in effect since December and still no parts available to repair. Dealership indicated that issue was not apparent and that fluid change caused improvement on test drive. NO. Did not happen. Issue continues and has worsened over time. Driving this car is a risk, as there is so much hesitation at times that near accidents have happened. There have also been honks from others as I am trying to accelerate and it takes time.

Recall has been in effect since December 2023. Still no parts for repair. Vehicle hesitating. Took in to see if possibly due to fuel pump issue. Dealership states no. Suggested transmission change and indicated that test drive showed improvement. Did not happen. Not sure if the issue is related to recall but recall is taking way too long.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that a diagnostic test needed to be performed out-of-pocket to determine the cause of the failure because parts for the recall repair were limited. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

July 2022, my wife was in a parking space. She placed the vehicle in reverse and backed out of the parking space. She braked to stop, placed the vehicle in drive and pressed the accelerator. Immediately the car shut off in the middle of the parking lot and the engine light came on. Some strangers helped her push the car out of the way of traffic. She thought the battery died so called USAA and they sent out roadside assistance who tried to jumpstart the battery but it didn't work. The car was towed to the closest Honda dealership and after 30 minutes told us the engine seized. When we asked how that happened, they said they didn't know. Then they tried to buy the car from us , gave us a preprinted buyback flyer and tried to hard sell us into buying a new car. We left and towed it to the Honda dealership where we originally purchased it. They tried to do a full diagnostic, but could not even get into the major components of the engine because it was all seized up, and told us that it would require a new engine. When I asked how this happened, the service manager said neither he nor the mechanic could tell us why or how. They told us to buy a rebuilt engine so we did and paid $8736.80. July 2024, and a friend told me about recall 23V-751. I immediately visited our Honda dealership who told us to open a refund claim with American Honda. American Honda (case#14788790) initially told us our vehicle didn't qualify because its production date was 6/17/2016. We emailed docs/pictures proving the production date of our car is May 16, 2016 and the date of purchase was 6/17/16. Then Honda said the claim was denied because they didn't have proof of oil changes but carfax rpt shows consistent maintenance. Now Honda is saying our VIN doesn't qualify because they use the In Service Date for recall VIN qualification and again claims ours is 6/17/16 (the purchase date) and that there is no record of a transmission flush?!? Honda keeps changing the bar on this recall.

The accelerator on my vehicle malfunctioned and got stuck. While making turn with no acceleration, the acceleration of the vehicle got stuck and the brakes did not respond causing the vehicle to hit a sidewalk and breaking the passenger side suspension and control arm and axel of the vehicle. Airbags deployed. Controlled the vehicle until it stopped completely. When vehicle was completely stopped the passenger side still sounded like that gas pedal was fully pressed when the other tires were not moving.

On July 8 2024 at approximately 0720 CST I was driving my vehicle on the freeway when I lost ALL acceleration and the car would NOT go above 70MPH. The car continued to decelerate while on the freeway in traffic. The RPM range was 7-8 while it was decelerating and then it went back to "normal" a few minutes later. I then continued my travel to work and about 5 miles away from my work it did it again ON THE FREEWAY. I was able to limp into the Honda Burleson Service Center and there were 3 warning lights on at this point. These warning lights are Brake System Warning Light, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem.

We were on a road trip to Gatlinburg from Brentwood TN. We were about a mile from our cabin when we saw a mama bear and cubs. We rolled down the window to take photos and my [XXX] smelled smoke. We didn’t see any smoke but thought maybe someone was burning brush or cooking out. We rolled up the windows and continued to drive for about thirty seconds when we saw smoke billowing out of the front hood. There were no warnings on my dash of any problem. We jumped out and I saw a small ember under the front of the car. I called 911 and we started to run, the car quickly went up in flames and then exploded before fire department arrived. SERVICE BRAKES, STEERING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Sudden collision warning displayed on dashboard and brakes were automatically applied. No vehicles in front of me and vehicle behind was sufficient distance away. There was no collision situation at all. Brake system light, collision warning light, and collision mitigation braking system problem - See your dealer displayed on dashboard. I pulled into parking a parking lot, stopped, and turned engine off. After restarting engine, error seemed to clear. Dealer review is pending.
