Dealer diagnostic performed and found that the multipurpose camera internal electronic failure has occurred (report attached). This camera controls the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), automatic headlights and high beams, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Collision Mitigation System, Road Departure Mitigation System. This issue first began in March 2023 and occurs all of the time. I brought the vehicle to the dealership to be inspected. The warning lights and dings occur constantly throughout my ride. I have attached a link to a video that I had recorded and uploaded through Youtube, due to the size of the file. [XXX] Dealer quote states $1579, plus tax for camera replacement and proper aiming. This seems to be a common issue with the 2016-2020 model of the Honda Pilot per online chat boards. The price of repair among people that have either received a quote or had the camera replaced is from $1500-$1800. As this appears to be a manufacturing issue and not due to normal wear and tear, this should not be the responsibility of the owner. 2016 Honda Pilot EX with 131,000 miles - Connector Rod Issue On [XXX] while driving (40 mph) I heard a loud noise in the engine. The engine then proceeded to smoke profusely that I thought it was on fire. I immediately pulled the car over to the side of the road and shut the engine off while smoke filled the area. After a quick investigation with police who stopped to assist I realized ALL the engine oil leaked all over the road. The car was then towed to Clinton Honda in Annandale, New Jersey where after their mechanics performed a diagnostic it was determined the "Connector Rod" broke and went through the engine block. Clinton Honda informed me it would require a new motor ($5k) and labor ($4.5k) to resolve the issue. Since it was no longer under normal / extended warranty Clinton Honda was unwilling to repair the vehicle at their expense. I then proceeded to research the issue on the internet and discovered Honda did issue a Recall for this problem. However, my VIN did not fall within the numbers identified on the Recall. After doing a little more research I discovered that numerous Pilot owners experienced the same issue but their cars didn't fall within the impacted VINs on the recall and Honda Corporation did nothing to assist. Clearly Honda Corporation dropped the ball in accurately identifying the affected cars. On Friday, July 19, 2024 I filed a complaint with Honda Corporation to assist with the matter, but I am not very hopeful that they will do anything for me either. My car was always very well maintained and all the service was performed by Clinton Honda on schedule. Please help!!! On July 11, my engine failed on my 2016 Honda Pilot EX-L AWD. My car has 95,000 miles. I had no warning lights or messages prior to complete failure. While driving, out of the blue, the engine started to make rattling noises and sounded horrible. When I was trying to accelerate and merge onto the interstate there was no get up and go. It was very scary for my daughter and I. I immediately got off the highway as soon as I could and approximately 10 minutes later the car stalled out on the side of the road. I had it towed to the Valley Honda dealership where I bought it and have done ALL my regular and recommended maintenance. They diagnosed that the rod bearing broke in cylinder 6. My car is still currently at the Valley Honda dealership.

Auto shut down/ restart does not work properly. Car was recalled for this issue and a software update was installed. However, car still will not restart after auto shut off. On several occassions we had to use car stop button and wait several minutes before car would restart. This left us stranded at busy intersections in heavy traffic. Very dangerous situation.

My CMBS stopped my car in the middle of the road coming home one day. There were no other cars around me (in front of me, behind me, or coming towards me). The word “brake” flashed across my dash and then it beeped at me and just stopped in the middle of the road going 55 mph. My kids and elderly mother in law were in the car with me and we were all shaken up and also very glad there were no cars behind us, or else we could have been injured in a rear-end collision. The dealer has had my car for 21 days now and cannot reproduce it, but they asked if I was in the road that it occurred on, because they have had similar complaints from owners. I do not understand why they don’t drive my car down that same road to be able to reproduce the incident. My below email was sent to the dealer on June 18, because the car keeps locking me out with the key fob inside and the dash resets itself, but won’t turn back on, it is just in the constant spinning reset wheel. My attached photos are of the car refusing to lock because it says a door is open or a window is down, when none of that is happening. (The doors are closed and the windows are up.). The CMBS incident occurred on June 24th, I drove home and had Honda tow my car to the dealership. They have had it ever since.

Horn stopped working which prevented notice to other car at stop backing up, resulting in a crash. Vehicle started turning itself on in accessory mode, flashing lights, disabling keyless entry and starting the vehicle and smelled of an electrical fire, was unable to disconnect battery due to unpredictable turning on and off at vehicles will. Brought vehicle to dealer who confirmed that it was a bad smart entry main control unit module which caused the horn to stop working and the vehicle to turn itself on.

While driving, the dashboard displays (in front of driver and center screen as well) went completely black for 2-3 minutes. Although they eventually came back on, driver lost the ability to determine speed, as well as get any other relevant info while operating the vehicle. There were no prior warnings that it would happen.

The Honda Pilot has a known history of "Judder and Surge" with the transmission. Which means to shake rapidly or spasmodically; vibrate conspicuously. Honda in America has a TSB/Technical Service Bulletin for this condition and that is to triple flush the transmission and reprogram the transmission computer. This is OBVIOUSLY a serious safety issue and the vehicle does not behave in a normal operating condition and surges and vibrates until service is performed. This is not normal wear and tear, this is bad engineering. Honda is aware of the TSB for Judder and Surge, but will only correctly repair certain trim levels and model years, although Honda knows that it exist in all configuration of the Pilot 2016 and forward. We have a 2019 Honda Pilot and Honda refuses to fix this vehicle as a TSB, but instead wishes to leave the vehicles on the road and have the unwitting customer pay for this serious repair condition. Honda should issue a comprehensive TSB for all Pilot years and makes for the Judder/Surge issue.

The car accelerated brakes did not work or did not function. The. “Brakes “word (brown color ) flashed 2 x. I was going to work I parked on the upper level of the parking structure. AS I was doing rear parking I adjusted the car forward to align with the parking slot . As I moved the car forward it jolted and accelerated. The brakes was not working. The word “brake”. Flashed. 2 times . The car fell to the lower floor. I was fortunate as it was a Sunday no car nor pedestrian was in the lower level but the car beside where I fell suffered damages. I was brought to the emergency department . Paramedics and police were called. My ct of head neck abdomen and pelvis were negative. Ct of chest showed band like contusion comparable with seatbelt injury. I suffered from bruises to my left leg. Right breast lower abdomen. Left clavicle area. History wise: my Honda pilot lost all power on [XXX]. I had it towed to the Honda service center in Cerritos. I was told it was battery issue. Battery was changed A ,month after I crashed. I informed my insurance. I called Honda. They gave me a case number. But said it’s the insurance who will investigate. Per insurance Honda should do the investigation. Up to this day I have no update from Honda. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ACC, LKAS, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system, and auto high beam problem warnings all appear on instrument panel. None of these systems work. Have replaced battery and problem not fixed. Warnings continue to appear each time car is turned on. Vehicle has 47783 miles on it. Codes indicate there’s a problem with the camera in the front of the car. The car is only 3 years old. Shouldn’t be having these issues. Have researched online and found many other complaints from others from various Honda models. Major safety problem that warrants a recall.

What component or system failed" ANSWER: Engine related to the known recall The hesitation is sporadic and unpredictable. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? ANSWER: Engine hesitation while getting on and off the highway materially increases the risk of an accident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? ANSWER: No. After explaining the engine hesitation problem, Honda said we could bring it in and, for $300, perform testing to see if the current hesitation is related to the recall hesitation. However, the sporadic nature of the recurrence creates the uncertainty of replicating the problem and wasting our money. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by others? ANSWER: No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure? No CONCLUSION: We've called the national Honda tollfree and local dealership to explain the problem and request prioritization. Consistently, they decline our request, and can't advise when they'll have the parts to perform the recall repair. We believe this to be unreasonable. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this.

When I filled up on gas and I used 88 instead of regular 87 fuel so a day after I filled up with gas I turn on the vehicle all of the lights came on warning that the awd system didn’t work and the lane departure didn’t work and cruse control didn’t work. And when I went to the dealer they couldn’t figure it out until the pulled the gas out saying we put the wrong gas in the car
