The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated while driving from a complete stop. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

ENGINE
Our 2017 Honda Pilot (VIN# [XXX] ) was affected by Honda's recall to correct the vehicle stalling out at a stop, and having difficulty re-starting the engine. We had the recommended action performed at our dealer to update the engine software, which appeared to adjust the idle upwards. Since then, our vehicle has stalled less than before, but continues to have the same problem. In July 2024, our Honda Pilot stalled at a stop sign near Paris, KY and would not re-start for about 1 minute - we had traffic behind us which was upset that we couldn't quickly re-start the vehicle. I informed the service rep at Gary Smith Honda that we had a recurrence of the problem and was told that if the vehicle was failing intermittently that the dealer could not troubleshoot the problem until the vehicle failed at a regular interval. Today, [XXX], the vehicle stalled again at a red light in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and would not re-start for 90-120 seconds in heavy traffic, causing a safety issue. Eventually, the vehicle re-started. Honda's recommended fix for this problem has had some positive impact, but has not fully corrected the problem. My family is at risk as long as this problem reoccurs and we need a permanent solution, not the existing temporary, partial solution. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
The front facing camera was working intermittently. When it wasn’t working all the advanced driving features would not work. After several months the car would intermittently go into limp mode per the dealership due to electrical confusion with all the codes/lights from the camera malfunction and shift while driving into neutral nearly causing me to have an accident while making a left hand turn. The camera had to be replaced at a large cost and they said it was not able to be repaired despite the fact that it worked perfectly 10% of engine starts

Engine spun connecting rod bearing on Cylinder 1 just as described in TSB 23-097. Car shutoff going highway speeds on the interstate. The car is currently at the honda dealer getting an engine replacement. Honda OEM certified powertrain warranty will only put a used engine with potentially the same issue in the vehicle Check engine light, and transmission problem lights all came on. Engine initially reported a misfire and transmission complained of not enough torque coming from the engine.

My back up camera has an issue where it is showing a green and purple tint that is distorting the view. It functions every time I put the car in reverse, but I can barely see what is on the screen because of the colors. I almost hit a person because I could not see her in the back up camera. I also have been unable to use it to attach my trailer because the view is so distorted. I have researched it and many other people have experienced this exact same issue with 2019 Pilots. This needs to be a safety recall as the camera is failing and needs to be replaced.

On several occasions in 2024 1 - 2 months apart I have been stopped at a light in my 2016 Honda Pilot I have around 150,000 miles on it. The car will stall out and I can barely make it to the side of the road. All the dashboard lights come on Vehicle Stability Assist Problem, Power Steering System Problem, Emissions System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Trailer Stability Assist Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem. I had the Catalytic Converters changed about 2 months ago at a cost of $3,000 and this is still happening. Once the battery is disconnected the codes go away and the car drives fine for a while, but not this last time. We had AAA come out and put a new battery, they AAA service drove off, I pulled out 3 feet and the car cut off again and all the lights came back on and the car would not move.

Operating vehicle on Interstate. After pulling onto off ramp engine shut off completely during application of brakes. This has happened twice in hot (above 90 degrees) conditions. Car restarted after multiple attempts. I was in danger of being rear ended. No warning lights, no I dictations there was a problem. Dealer cannot reproduce the problem, no solution offered.

After coming to a stop at a red light, the engine auto stop engaged as normal. About a minute passed, and when I took my foot off the brake and tried to start driving, the engine did not start again. The screen on dashboard the said to switch to park and turn the car off. This car has already received the PGM-FI roughly a month ago, after this happened previously.

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that following a State Safety Inspection, the vehicle failed due to extensive corrosion to the rear suspension and to the rear trailing arm. The contact was advised by the State Inspector not to drive the vehicle due to the advanced state of corrosion. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure). The contact had called the manufacturer and was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that on three occasions while driving at various speeds, the messages "Emissions System failure", "Stabili-trak Assist Failure", "Hill Start Assist Failure", “Vehicle Stability Assist Failure", and "Power Steering System Failure" were displayed. Additionally, the power steering and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle then stalled each time. The vehicle was restarted after approximately four attempts. The contact stated that after the first and second failures, DTC code: P0087; was retrieved on a handheld diagnostic scanner. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 179,831.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS
During the last week, alerts would appear on my dash from the Collision Mitigation Braking System and Road Departure Mitigation System. These alerts will appear while driving at 30mph on a city street. When the alerts appear, the brakes are activated and the steering wheel locks up. The alerts immediately clear but it is very alarming to the driver and passengers. Yesterday while parallel parking, in the mist of reversing into the parking space, the systems triggered alerts along with a transmission alert. The system immediately put the vehicle into park and would not permit the change of gears. While halfway in the parking spot with the front of the vehicle sticking out into on coming traffic, I was forced to completely turn the vehicle off, wait about 3 minutes before turning it back on. This allowed me to complete parking the vehicle in the spot.

On several occasions my 2019 Honda Pilot Touring AWD with Idle start/stop will not restart when the idle start/stop kicks in. At a stop light several times when I come to a stop and the engine will turn off and not restart when the idle start/stop engages. Very dangerous and a clear safety issue that Honda needs to rectify asap. I have read many others with the same issue occurring. Honda, please step up and do the right thing!

Stopped at a light and the auto start/stop system engaged and the cars engine turned off. Once the light turned green and took my foot off of the brake the engine did not automatically start. It would not start for about 30 seconds after trying to start it multiple time. The car was completely dead. Luckily the driver approaching me from behind was stopped without hitting me. This was very disturbing and dangerous.

I have had a problem with my vehicle throwing the same codes for over a year and my mechanic and I could not figure out the problem. Finally he ran a report and showed me that these codes match recalls that should have been done on my vehicle but have not been done. I don't know who put it in the system that they had done it but my vehicle is not safe or okay and the dealership won't address my problems because their system shows that it was already fixed.
