In July 2023, at 55,496 miles on the odometer, the original CVT transmission failed and was replaced at Port City Nissan (120 Spaulding Tpke N, Portsmouth, NH 03801), an authorized Nissan dealership, with a Nissan-supplied rebuilt CVT transmission at a cost of approximately $7,000. The rebuilt transmission was warranted for one year. Approximately 2.5 years and only 26,500 miles after installation, the rebuilt CVT transmission has failed again at approximately 82,000 miles. CVT transmission failure while driving presents a serious safety hazard, as the vehicle may lose power unexpectedly, particularly dangerous at highway speeds, during merges, or in intersections. Pattern of Defect: Nissan’s CVT transmissions have been the subject of widespread consumer complaints and multiple class action lawsuits across various model years. Significantly, Nissan recently updated its warranty on rebuilt CVT transmissions from one year to three years with unlimited mileage for replacements performed after July 2024. This warranty extension strongly suggests Nissan is aware of systemic premature failures in its rebuilt CVT units. The failure of a rebuilt transmission at only 26,500 miles indicates a fundamental quality control or design deficiency in the rebuilt units Nissan is supplying to dealerships. Safety Concern: Sudden CVT failure causes immediate loss of propulsion and can result in loss of vehicle control. This is particularly hazardous on highways, in heavy traffic, and during adverse weather conditions. Given the pattern of premature failure in Nissan’s rebuilt CVT units, I believe this constitutes a safety defect affecting a population of vehicles and warrants investigation. I request that NHTSA investigate Nissan’s rebuilt CVT transmission program and the adequacy of Nissan’s response to known premature failures.

I am reporting a safety concern involving a 2021 Nissan Murano Platinum with approximately 45,000 miles. The vehicle experienced water intrusion into the cabin due to a failure in the panoramic sunroof drainage system. A Nissan dealership diagnosed that water was leaking from the sunroof channels and that the drain hoses were contaminated and not functioning properly. As a result, water entered the interior of the vehicle, soaking the A-pillars and floorboards. There was also a musty odor, indicating that moisture remained trapped inside the vehicle for a period of time. In addition to the interior water intrusion, the dealership found corrosion in an electrical connector related to the power liftgate system and moisture inside the headlight assembly, causing lighting failure. I am concerned that water intrusion into the cabin and pillar areas could affect electrical systems, wiring, and safety-related components, including those located near the A-pillars. This issue occurred at relatively low mileage and appears to be more than normal wear and tear. The combination of water intrusion and electrical component damage raises concerns about long-term reliability and potential safety risks. I am reporting this so the issue can be documented and reviewed for potential broader impact.

This statement is to the best of my knowledge. I was driving my 2015 Nissan Murano and when I was almost back to mine [XXX] house the transmission stopped working. I took it and had it towed over Gilman Nissan in Rosenberg. I have a warranty on it through endurance warranty company. They came and inspect the transmission. They indicated that the transmission fell, but also I know that Nissan recall these transmission on the CVT which is going out. The warranty company indicated that the CVT inside the transmission fell. Also, the alternator failed on the vehicle. They indicating that the all drip from somewhere on to the alternator was made. The alternator fail but I look on the website and I also noticed that if the alternator go out in these 2015 Nissan Murano it's messed up the transmission. So this need to be looking into and taking care cuz I believe they card not telling the real truth on what's going on with this transmission and the reason I couldn't get my car repaired because the mileage has already passed and I got mine recall letter real late INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11724930March 17, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The forward looking sonar sensor turns off after the first 2 miles, which in turn deactivates the adaptive cruise control and the automatic emergency braking system. I have learned that this is a widespread problem on many Nissans, including the Rogue and Murano. The dealership said it was recalled on the Rogue, but not on the Murano, so it would cost thousands to replace.

On March 4th I was driving my car that I had my daughter and two grand children with me which is a 2020 Nissan Murano. I was driving and as I was driving I heard a loud pop that sounded like a gun shot so i immediately look through the mirror to see if i could see my grandchildren as im looking through the mirror i see two holes in the back window so im scared at this point so i continue to drive until i could get over to make sure that my grandchildren were ok and to take a closer look at the window and to call [XXX] . So i opened the back door to get my grandchildren out the car and their ages are [XXX] old and [XXX] old. My grandson had some glass in his car seat and some glass got on my granddaughter as well so me and my daughter got them both out the car and sat them both in the front seat of the car then i proceeded to walk to the back of the car to look at the window I saw to holes in the window which one hole was on the right side and one hole was on the left side of the window and the middle piece of glass was still in but it had cracked in to small piece so after looking at the window i immediately called the police and the came out and the police said that it looked as if it was some type of defect from the car and what had happened that my back window had exploded and all of the glass was in the back of my car. Vehicles of previous model years, this model year, and future model years have all experienced this issue. Issue was reported on thru a youTube channel in order to let the public know and understand the issue and how to fix/repair the issue. It was then discovered thru view time and the linking of the part to repair that this was a rempent issue of concern for possible recall. Issue of hesitation upon acceleration was noticed for 18 months. Vehicle was taken into dealership for diagnosis - main Nissan dealer and second repair facility diagnosed the need for a new transmission. Transmission was replaced thru the second repair facility for $7500.00. Issue of hesitation upon acceleration was not repaired thru the replacement of the transmission. Owner of the vehicle researched the issue and determined it was caused by holes and degredation of the "Air-Intake-Hose" assembly. This part is a $35.00 part availalbe on Amazon and easily replaced in about 10 minutes time by the owner. The need for recall is that Nissan does not throw an error code in order to diagnose this problem. The only error code thrown is for a NEW TRANSMISSION.

- #11721967March 4, 2026EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Both headlight assemblies on my 2019 Nissan Murano have developed water intrusion inside the sealed LED headlight housing. The first headlight failed in March 2025 when moisture entered the assembly and caused the light to malfunction. The dealership diagnosed water intrusion into the sealed headlight assembly and advised that the entire unit must be replaced because the LED assembly is not serviceable. The repair estimate was approximately $2,400. The second headlight assembly has now developed the same issue, with visible moisture inside the housing. These headlights are sealed LED units with no replaceable bulbs. When moisture enters the assembly, the entire headlight must be replaced. This can lead to reduced nighttime visibility and potential headlight failure, which is a safety concern. The vehicle was purchased as a Certified Pre-Owned Nissan from a Nissan dealership, and I also purchased an additional extended “Gold” warranty at the time of sale through the dealership. Despite this, the headlight assembly failure was classified as “routine maintenance” and denied for coverage. Because these are sealed LED assemblies and not normal replaceable bulbs, water intrusion leading to failure does not appear to be routine maintenance. The fact that both headlights have developed moisture intrusion suggests a possible defect in the headlight housing seal. I am submitting this complaint so the issue of premature failure of sealed LED headlight assemblies due to water intrusion can be evaluated for potential safety concerns.

While driving, the rear arm connected to the rear driver-side wheel broke off. According to my Nissan dealership diagnosis, this was due to excessive rust/rot of the whole subframe. The 2013 Nissan Murano rear arm cannot re attach the wheel to the sub frame due to so much rust/rot on the sub frame. The whole subframe would need replacement. When doing an estimate on fixing, Nissan called and stopped the estimate when replacement of the subframe, fixing of the arm, and additional rust/replacement exceeded the value of the car. My son and I were driving on the road when the arm broke off the rear wheel, the wheel went sideways and we skidded to a stop, so our safety was at risk. There were no warning lights or signs of this happening. While driving on the road, my car felt unstable then seconds later the arm broke off. The car was at Nissan 4 months prior to have work done, I had them do a multipoint inspection when there was a problem/engine light with the vehicle and it would not go more than 15mph. Nissan fixed loose RF hub, plus they replaced a right and left front sway bar. This is right on the sub frame, there was no warning given to me that the sub frame was rusted or could give out.

- #11720330February 25, 2026ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION
I have reported and taken my vehicle into the dealership regarding sluggish engine. Vehicle has hesitated multiple times while driving which slows the vehicle down and can cause an accident. Also reported gas leaking out as I pumped gas into the vehicle. Bolt was coming out of driver's side door, Matt Bowers Nissan stated they are aware of the issue with other Nissan vehicles, and the bolt was coming out so they put it back in. Door still having issues, losing time from work to take vehicle in and research is needed to initiate a recall on this vehicle. I feel from a previous Nissan that this vehicle has a bad transmission. Also informed dealership with no response that I keep receiving warning lights regarding sensor malfunction.

- #11719568February 21, 2026VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
I was going 35 MPH, normal operation speed and there was no extreme weather or road conditions. I slowed down to get into the center turn lane ended up coming to a complete stop due to on coming traffic. I was stopped for about 30 seconds to maybe a minute when I finally had enough clearance to make my turn. When I pressed the accelerator it began to accelerate but stalled out almost immediately. So I pressed and depressed the accelerator rapidly several times then it finally accelerated. When it did finally accelerate it accelerated much to quickly like it just took off. I’d like to say that this excessive acceleration was terrible but it saved my passenger from getting slammed by the now on coming traffic due to the lack of power. This is not the first time it has happened it does it allot when the weather gets warmer as well as when exiting the highway coming to a complete stop and then when trying to accelerate it stalls I’d say 25% of the time. I’ve taken it to multiple repair shops and they all say they can’t find the problem. I know their is a problem and I’ve read of this happening to many other owners so why is there no recall on it yet I’m surprised no one has been seriously injured or worse. In my opinion I feel like the manufacturer has complete disregard to the consumers safety. It’s unsettling.

I was traveling out of state when the climate control panel on the vehicle stopped working. I was not able to control heat, defroster or air flow. Took to dealership. They verified it was the control panel, and the part was ordered but it's on backorder with no ETA when it may arrive and the vehicle repaired.

Technical Incident Report: Electrical Component Failure Reference: Technical Service Bulletin NTB19-004 Part Number: 873D6-5AA6A (Control Unit/Actuator) Incident Overview On 2/16/26, the vehicle was being operated by the primary driver when a suspected electrical failure occurred. Upon subsequent inspection, the 873D6-5AA6A control unit and its associated wiring harness were found to be severely compromised by thermal damage. Detailed Observations: Thermal Damage: The control unit housing showed significant melting. Residual smoke was present during the inspection, indicating a high-temperature event caused by a short circuit or component failure. Harness Integrity: The wiring harness insulation was melted and charred. Due to the extreme heat, the plastic connector had become brittle and lost all structural integrity. Component Failure: During the attempt to disconnect the unit for safety inspection, the connector shattered, leaving the internal wiring of the harness exposed. Documentation: High-resolution photographs have been captured to document the state of the melted housing, the shattered connector, and the exposed wiring.
