POWER TRAIN
My vehicle has been experiencing shifting delays when accelerating. Often times when I stop accelerating my vehicle has a delay and remains revved up for a few seconds before the RPM's go back down. The sluggish/delayed acceleration presents a safety issue when the vehicle is not operating as it should. This issue has been occurring for about 6 months. I informed the dealership where I purchased the vehicle and have the routine maintenance done and they say there are no issues reported about the issues I have been having. I addressed the issue again over the weekend when I had my oil change and tire rotation on April 1, 2023 and I have been told the same thing that there are no issues reported. But the dealership fails to report the issue I had addressed the first time.

While you're driving you hear weird squealing sounds and when you slow down the transmission tends to rattle. 2: After you start the car, there is a very loud sound like track and the car tends to move back and forth.

SERVICE BRAKES
This is the letter I sent to Kia: Dear Sirs, I own a 2023 Kia K5 EX that I bought new and currently has about 8500 miles on it. Today, while driving on I95 in Florida, I had my right rear tire blow out. I could tell by the feel of the car that I had a flat before the systems warned me, but that is not why I’m writing you today. While I was working my way over to the right shoulder to stop, all of the waring lights came on and the brakes stopped working. Now I want to be clear. It wasn’t a failure of the brakes themselves. It was not the anti-lock brake system. The brake pedal itself locked and would not let me apply the brakes. Again, I want to be perfectly clear here. I am now driving on a 6 lane highway at about 50 miles and hour on three tires with no working safety systems and I cannot slow down the car. Eventually, the brakes came bake on line and I was able to stop the car. However, If the traffic suddenly slowed down, as is common on South Florida, I would have had no way to avoid a collision. I do not know if this is a programmed response to a tire blow out or a major flaw in your safety systems. If it was designed that way, fire the moron who designed it and have it fixed. If it’s a flaw in the design, have it fixed. I cannot believe how dangerous a car you let me drive. I had a single vehicle collision and ran into a ditch, none of my airbags deployed and I had a sternal fracture from hitting my chest so hard on the steering wheel. My vehicle was totaled as well.

STEERING, POWER TRAIN
BRAND NEW VEHICLE PURCHUSED OFF SHOW ROOM FLOOR WITH 4 MILES ON IT. 3 MONTHS AFTER OWNERSHIP, WHEN PUSH TO START THE CAR. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK UP, UNABLE TO DRIVE AND A SYSTEMS CHECK WILL DISPLAY ON THE DASH. IT DOES NOT STOP, UNTIL YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES, WITH NO SET AMOUNT OF TIMES UNTIL THE CAR IS DRIVABLE AGAIN. THE CAR HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO KIA SEVERAL TIMES FOR SERVICE, BUT THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE A REASON. A LEMON LAW WAS FILED AND COMPLETED IN 2022. THE CAR SINCE THEN HAS CONTINUED TO HAVE THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK UP RANDOMLY WHEN STARTING IT AND HAS EVEN PROGRESSED TO DOING IT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY!!! NO RECALL FROM KIA HAS BEEN ISSUED. THEY ARE JUST WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DIE!

One day I was driving my car when suddenly I heard a loud explosion sound from the back. I continued to drive the car until I could pull over to inspect the car. In the midst of pulling the car over I began smelling a strong odor of gas in the cabin of the car. Prior to stopping the car started skipping and missing badly. I pulled over checked the car and discovered something malfunctioned and caused the rear seat to pop up and be bent from the frame. I proceeded to look under the seat and saw where what appeared to be the fuel pump almost popped out, the bracket above the fuel pump was broken and popped up from the explosion, the seat would not go back in place. I looked at the gas hand I went from 3/4 tank of gas to E in less than a few miles. The exhaust also sounds like something blew or came apart the car runs very loud and you can hear the car sounding like the exhaust have a hole. After the sequence of events the engine light never came on. This is huge life safety problem that should have never happened.

On December 28th 2022 between the 6:30 am to 8:00 my car was parked and caught on fire. I have filed a complaint with Kia and since then I have gotten the run around about them looking into the vehicle and seeing what cause the issue. My car was still under the manufacture warranty

The transmission is experiencing a loss of power and getting heavy/stuck at about 20-30 mph before It begins to accelerate somewhat faster. The car is also not accelerating properly. Engine light came on as this began. Oil changes on vehicle are up to date as well

My wife was driving down the highway with her cruise control set to 75. She noticed she was only doing 71 and pushed the gas pedal manually. The rpm's increased to between 4000-5000 but there was no acceleration with the car. The car then dropped to 68 mph and would not accelerate at all. After pulling over and turning the car off and then restarting it started working ok. This seems to match the transmission recall of the 2023 Kia K5 GT-Line but this car is not currently included in that recall. This recall should be investigated and possibly expanded.

I was traveling normally, exiting a highway ramp when my car acceleration system malfunctioned. It seemed as if it was a power train issue or engine issue. I was not able to accelerate or slow down properly due to this malfunction and it caused me to crash. My car was totaled.

On 11/29/2022 my car wouldn't start, just click and continued to try and start then the check ESC warning came on. I had to get it jump started from KIA Roadside assistance and drove vehicle to local KIA Dealership where they tested the battery and said it was a bad battery. They replaced the battery. My car was purchased Dec 23rd 2021, battery was not even a year old . Fast forward 27 days, on Dec 26th, 2022, I was originally scheduled for the 8000 mile maintenance with Jake Sweeney KIA at 10am, went to start vehicle and wouldn't start again. It done the same as before on 11/29. Just click several times and then the check ESC warning came one(I have video of the entire process). after the Check ESC went off the entire cars electrical system went out and I couldn't even get jumper cables out of trunk of car. I contacted roadside assistance again, but they said it would be 3 to 4 hours before they could come, so I bought cables from store. Once started drove it to Jake Sweeney KIA they change oil and rotated tire and did diagnostic check and everything came back fine, but here is my issue I knew it would because once you jump the car there are no codes or issue after that. Left the dealership and will wait to see if it does it for a third time. I feel they should replce vehicle because this is a safety issue if happens outside the home not mention incovenice with everyday life (work etc).

AIR BAGS, SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
While driving at 40 mph a vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled out into my lane causing me to struck the front driver’s side of the vehicle. The airbags deployed in the truck that failed to stop but the airbags in my car failed to deploy resulting in several injuries to my head, neck, back, shoulders, abdomen and fractured spine. Police and EMT were called and arrived on scene. I was then transported to the ER via personal vehicle. I have since followed up with my primary care physician along with more tests, lab work and more imaging.

Randomly, the cars engine rev is really low, it’ll go up down up down over and over and over and then shut off, sometimes while in motion. Other times, when you’re finished driving and you shift into park the engine will shut off the moment you hit park. My safety is at risk due to the fact that when I was in motion and it did that it could’ve caused an accident. The dealer claims they are unable to re-create the issue, even though I am video recording proof. Many warning messages appear on my dashboard when this happens, but they all go away. Once you turn the car fully off and back on.

While breaking the steering wheel cut hard right, went to brake even more and the steering locked up and was unable to move properly. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Steering How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? It sent me into a guard rail, sprained my wrist due to the air bag Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? N/a Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Insurance Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lights. Car was repaired previously and made multiple complaints about the tightness of the steering to the repair shop and the dealership

The contact owns a 2021 Kia K5. The contact stated that the driver assist feature would activate independently. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road and shifted from park to drive to deactivate the driver assist feature and continued driving to his destination. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,077.

Client called about his car. After a exhausting analysis, we noticed that the ADA system released the brakes, causing an incident. The forward collision warning did not get activated. The car should stop automatically if it detects a possible crash or when the car it’s getting out of the road and it never happened. The main problem was the airbag placed above the pedals. It’s too big and when gets deployed, can cause a fracture, mainly on the right leg of the driver.

On 11/24/22 my car would not start, and I kept getting a message to check ESC- electronic stability control. I pressed the ESC button on my dashboard but nothing changed. Eventually a relative jumped off the car, bypassing the warning, so I could drive home. The car started correctly the next day and for several days after. Then, on 11/28/22, I got the same warning, then the car would not start. This continued through 11/29/22 at which point I had the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership. It's still there and I have not heard if this has been resolved. At one point the car also said no key detected, although the key was in my hand. Remote start would not work as well. The car has 5800 miles on it. I'm concerned that this could happen while driving the car.

Wheel resonance ducting separated from wheel inside of the tire. Broken pieces, threw off the balance of the wheel/tire resulting in very excessive vehicle vibration.
