Serious steering wobble while driving on highway in Denver at approx. 65 mph yesterday plus same serious wobble at lower speed (~60 mph) while passing car on country road. Took nearly a mile to stop the wobble and speed reduction to around 35 mph to stop! Very dangerous situations in both cases.

As I review events in chronological order, I see that a possible disconnect might be caused by clumping the symptoms together and treating as the “death wobble,” when in fact I may be experiencing two separate issues, the first being a failed steering damper and the second being caused by possible bad ball joint[s]. I first started to experience an issue around 7,000 miles in where the Jeep would pull to the right. It was a strong pull because my steering wheel would be turned to the left at about 15-25 degrees to the left in order to keep straight. had them check the alignment. The invoice said the alignment was checked and it was “ok,” December 24 – Florida gets a cold front and we experienced temperatures in the low 20’s with the high temperature peaking at 32 or 33 degrees for a couple days. I drive my normal route on the highway and as I am approaching 65 mph, I go over a transition from asphalt to concrete bridge and the car starts to do the death wobble, where a strong vibration from the front end shook the car until I let off the gas and slowed down to about 40mph. my sister-in-law also experienced in her 2020 Jeep, the same day the freeze set in. Ive had steering gearbox changed and two stabilizers replaced already, JEEP TSB once stated: JL JT have unique torque values for ball joints as compared to prior JK models due to material (aluminum knuckles) and design changes. I guarantee its the crappy ball joints and they REFUSE to admit it. Jeep still claims they cant duplicate the issue or i need to replace tires (that are wearing unevenly bc of ball joint issues) befor they can continue diagnosis. 4 different dealerships. 4 different outcomes. even [XXX] from their corporate office stopped responding to me. The upper spring perch located at passenger rear is welded to the frame on one side and a crossmember on another. The two vertical welds failed with the remaining welds being at the top of the spring perch. The only indications of a problem were an occasional knocking sound when going over a bump and severe vibration coming from the rear of the vehicle. The noise was caused by the spring perch flexing and tapping the bottom of the body. I believe the welds broke early this year but the source of the noise wasn't found until July 2023. With prolonged use in this condition the spring perch can completely fail causing the spring and perch to fall out and make the driver lose control. The dealership submitted pictures and the manufacturer has agreed to replace the entire frame. There are a handful of other people that have reported the same problem (always on the passenger rear) but because of the design, I suspect as these vehicles age stress fractures in the weld will make this issue more prevalent.

The vehicle is a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 4xe. On August 12, 2023, I was pulling into a parking space in a fairly small parking lot and the vehicle took off. The breaks were applied and the vehicle kept going. It actually hopped one of the vertical concrete barriers. After all said and done, the vehicle entered the building and destroyed this business. Thank God, no one was hurt. It could have been worse. After the vehicle crashed inside the building, it could not move anymore, and was turned off. Police report forthcoming.

I had the front wheels “wobble”. I had shocks replaced and a steering damper installed. The front end still bounces up and down, or wobbles, on every interstate overpass at interstate speeds.

Fuel Sensor is way off. Have ran out of gas less than 2 mins after dropping below a 38 mile range twice now. Drive 20 miles round trip everyday and go through a 60 mile range on my vehicle. I watch the range decrease by four or five miles while in idle.

Today doing approximately 65 to 70 miles per hour on highway 20 in Ft Worth just hit approximately 1 1/2 inch transition in pavement where they had added an extra layer of asphalt in the lane I was in the vehicle started wabbeling so bad I thought it was going to change lanes, approximately 10 miles later it did the same thing again felt like the front wheels were about to come off the vehicle. I have called Meador Jeep in Ft Worth and they recommended I park the Jeep and not drive it until they can get it in and check it on 8-25-23

4XE electric mode, while driving on the freeway, the vehicle said Electric Mode Temporarily Not available. The car loss power as I was going 70 MPH and it loss power and slowed to 8mph. The diesel traveling behind us slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting us and he tailspinned and caused a huge accident, all cars behind him had to come to a halt. I had my 2 year old granddaughter in her carseat in the back and my 70 year old mother in the front, we could have been killed. I have over 30 videos of this occurring and the vehicle only has less than 300 miles on it. The two local dealerships said they could not "duplicate" the problem and one told me not to drive in electric mode so, well would would be the purpose of me purchasing a hybrid if I can't use that function. The other dealership told me if I find out the problem to let him know for his future customers. There were no warning lights besides the Electric Mode not available flashing on the dash. Chrysler Auto Finance, the dealership where I purchased from, everyone giving me the run around and no one will help me.

Persistent death wobble vehicle is stock with no modifications. Driving at 65 on the highway a single small bump will cause violent shaking of the steering wheel and the front end. The shaking is aggressive enough to make you lose control of the vehicle and cause an accident. The vehicle has been for service multiple times for this issue. Every time the issue persist without resolve.

When coming to a stop and electric power is depleted, the vehicle will engage the gas engine and accelerate through a brake. I have to fight the vehicle to come to a complete stop because the engine is pulling me forward through the brake. Due to the unpredictability of the braking system, I must leave a greater stopping distance than required and have almost been in accidents. CAUSE UNKNOWN. I believe the powertrain, engine, and braking systems are involved. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership shop several times for this problem, and one software update was offered to try to fix the issue, but the issue is ongoing. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

Issue 1--Recall 19A/NHTSA 23V-116 n some circumstances, the clutch pressure plate may become overheated through friction, which may lead the pressure plate to rapidly fracture. When a pressure plate fractures, it may result in cracks or holes in the transmission case, allowing heated debris to be expelled from the transmission case. Safety Risk Heated debris expelled from the transmission bellhousing may come in contact with an ignition source in the vehicle or surrounding area, potentially leading to a fire. A fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and injury to persons outside the vehicle. Issue 2--Technical Service Bulletin 31-002-20 issued 10/27/2020 Corrison, rust and chipping of pain which is not only a cosmetic issue but rust can spread and weakned metail in the vehicle making it susceptible to additional premature damage and wear. Reported to dealer in May 2023 with as of this date open service ticket and parts not availble to repair--cosmetic issue is preventing me from receiving full value as a trade in on another vehicle.

Issue 1--Open recall since 2/23/2023 with no remedy available (over 5 months) From manufacturer: In some circumstances, the clutch pressure plate may become overheated through friction, which may lead the pressure plate to rapidly fracture. Issue 2--Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 31-002020) dated 10/27/2020 related to rust. This issue was reported to my dealer May 2023 and over 60 days later, the burden is on me to take to a body shop for an estimate to be covered under warranty. Said body shop has had claims open on same issue >120 days with no parts available and no date of parts available. Due to this cosmetic issue on the vehicle, I am unable to trade it in to a dealership for a new car without receiving a lower trade in value. I am now stuck driving a vehicle with cosmetic issues, as I do not want to lose thousands on trade in due to a cosmetic issue that is of no fault of my own.

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle rooftop was made of fiber glass that dropped on the vehicle occupants while driving. The contact stated that the fiber glass could cause health issues if inhaled. The contact stated that the dealer had replaced the rooftop once, and the freedom panels twice; however, the failure persisted as the replacement parts were made of the same materials. The contact stated that the dealer informed him that the top was made from trust and bonded fiber glass. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 40-60 MPH, the steering wheel was shuddering back and forth, causing the vehicle to vibrate and to sway. The contact also stated that while driving at highway speeds, the vehicle pulled to the left side. The contact turned the steering to the right in order to keep the vehicle in the lane. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the steering wheel was realigned twice; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 400.

Power steering unexpectedly stopped working while going 55 mph. I’m learning there are others that deal with this issue so I decided to file a complaint as I’m not expecting Jeep to fix the issue. After safely pulling over, I power cycled the Jeep and the power steering was restored. Has only happened once, but fully expecting it to happen again. Losing power steering at high speeds is one thing, but turning the Jeep at low speeds was extremely difficult and extremely unsafe.
