Car stopped in the middle of an intersection, and a ton of dash lights came on. Did this about 2 times x Brought it to Jeep dealership and they said that the diagnostic is coming back that everything is fine with the vehicle. I see a lot of jeep compasses are doing this and i need whatever the issue is to be resolved with a recall or something to prevent this from happening to other and get this issued solved immediately. I’ve been to jeep and NOTHING.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to be restarted. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V907000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.

Vehicle randomly blinks coolant too hot, locks up and shuts down. All fluids are full and there is no reason for the warming. Has happened backing out of the driveway, going slow, and on the freeway. Very dangerous

We realized a headlight malfunction where the headlights randomly and intermittently turn off. Sometimes they both work, sometimes one or the other works. A year ago, we seemed to notice a headlight go out, then they both worked. It happened again, so we replaced the bulb. Just last night, my wife happened to be following me home at night and her right headlight wouldn't turn on. In the middle of driving, both headlights went out. Then, shortly after, her left headlight went out and the right one came back on. I searched Jeep forums and discovered this is actually a very common problem and is not unique. This is an extremely hard issue to recognize due to the intermittent nature and poses a serious safety hazard driving at night. Given that it is obvious (took me 5 minutes) to realize there were countless other Jeep Compass owners having the issue, and the fact that headlights are a serious safety issue, I strongly recommend the NHTSA take a look into the issue. If you have any inspectors in the Dallas Fort-Worth area that would like to inspect this vehicle, please let me know.

Since 2023, my vehicle has had water leakage coming from the back right passenger side from the seat belt opening and right side of the back trunk. This is a major concern because my son’s car seat is seated on the right back seat where the water leakage is coming from. I don’t want any mold to grow under his car seat or on his car seat. Also I gave jumper cables in the back of my trunk for safety. What if they were to get soak and wet then they are not able to work. Also I put my groceries in the trunk of my car. I don’t want them to get spoiled or become contaminated.

- #11589025May 16, 2024POWER TRAIN, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
Since my short time of ownership I have had two specific issues with the car. One the safety features. The lane departure warning often doesn't work. The icon will stay unlit when veering out of lane. This is random but often. Next the automatic emergency braking system. The icon will show turned off randomly yet often. Forcing me to go back into the menu when the car is in stop to activate it again. For unknown reasons it will randomly turn off. Secondly, the transmission has a scary delay on stop to go. About 3 months after purchase I noticed when at a stop or very slow speeds the car will hesitate when pressing on the gas petal. I have had some near accidents due to this. The best way I can describe this is a loss of power. When accelerating from a stop or very slow speed the car doesn't respond or move then out of no where it will jerk and speed up. This has been an issue when yielding to on coming traffic making accidents more likely. I have taken the car to the dealer and was told it was a learning transmission and it should go away. I did receive a recall update to fix the hesitation but so far I don't see any positive change in this matter. The car still has a loss of power and I will bring the car back in for service.

It is not allowing me to check everything but the bottom line is this. It is highly inappropriate to know that there were three recalls on this vehicle it says 2 were completed there were investigations done and I do not have the ability to view them as a consumer especially whrn I was trying to buy it and now when I am trying to find out if it is related to a problem I am having. I need the full detailed list. I have asked the dealership and not received the documentation, please provide them. Thank you. We drove to the grocery store 5 minutes away. After being in the store for about 15 minutes we returned to go home. We tried starting the car and it wouldn’t start, message “High coolant temperature” came on with orange engine light. We waited 5 minutes, started again and all the warning lights flashed and the car locked up. Nothing would engage, even the brakes. We had to abandon the car in the lot and walk home.

I purchased this vehicle not quite a year ago. After about 3 months while turning I noticed a knocking sound coming from the left front of the vehicle while turning. When I was able I took the vehicle back to dealer who stated it was the rack and pinion. I was told by a local mechanic if not repaired it can come a lose cause you to loose control causing accident. After I was told this I researched an found several other jeep owners had this same problem. My vehicle now has 58k miles on it had only 32K when purchased I did get warranty dealer refused repairs I would like jeep to investigated because some complaints are not listed with nhtsa seems owners just repair it an move on or just complain ask questions on internet. I feel jeep should be held responsible an thus should be recalled before someone is killed.

My 2021 Jeep Compass Trailhawk has been in very good condition until the ac recently just started to blow hot air. When I took my jeep in for a routine oil/filter, my local auto mechanic said that upon visual inspection the a/c clutch (part of the a/c compressor) was melted and that I would need a whole new a/c compressor assembly, possibly replace the drier, and completely flush the system. I can't believe that for a fairly new car in very good condition this type of problem shows up. I called Jeep and they said that there is no recall on the a/c compressor for my jeep. However, my mechanic that is now working on fixing the issue said he has to wait a few days for the compressor kit parts as it was on backorder, so there must be other similar issues ongoing. I would like to know how I can get reimbursed for a problem that should not be happening with a 2021 Jeep in very good condition? I am not sure if this is a jeep class issue. I was traveling from Dallas to Austin for a wedding on [XXX], going the speed limit I notice my car begins to decelerate, I would put my foot on the gas and the car wouldn't speed up, I just kept hearing my engine rev up. In addition to that, a bunch of symbols, notifications and noises started alarming and going off on my dash, it seemed like every symbol on the dash popped up. Trying to prevent an accident while having a panic attack, I had barely enough time to switch lanes and pull over while still on this dangerous highway. Once I stopped the vehicle, the brake became hard to push with my foot and the dash continued to go crazy blinking on and off. After an hour or so, the car started acting fine. I eventually got back home and took it to Jeep in Frisco, TX, and they "repaired" my vehicle they replaced my auxiliary battery and the main battery. I got the car from the shop and it was fine. 2 months later, it happened again! My car slowed down while I was on the highway and this time I couldn't pull over to safety, so I put my hazards on and just prayed I wouldn't get hit and called for a tow truck. After doing some research I'm not the only jeep owner who has had this issue, others have experienced the same thing. Ultimately this is a Jeep issue. My car is basically a death trap, and I lost my job because I lost my reliable means of transportation! My car is currently sitting out front collecting dust, I don't have the money to gamble on what the mechanics THINK is the issue, they can't figure it out! I don't want the vehicle! Since the purchase of the car (2017), the vehicle has had the issue of excessive oil consumption causing the vehicle to burn up oil at higher unknown fluctuating rates. The vehicle doesn’t have an oil life indicator to begin with, and the only thing that indicates you have no oil in your car is the oil pressure light that will SOMETIMES pop on and off. My car has stalled out multiple times while driving on the road and luckily has never happen on the freeway. I have been getting routine oil changes more than frequently ( anywhere from 1500-2000 miles sooner than the recommended oil change. What’s concerning is the oil is burning up at an unknown fluctuating rate, making it hard to tell when there is any oil left in the vehicle. This is causing the vehicle to stall randomly while operating it, which ultimately can result in a devastating fatal crash in the near future. Every time I get an oil change there is little to no oil left in the vehicle. This is an issue that needs to get addressed for the safety and well being of myself, family, and others on the road.

after making a left turn, the engine shut off, an alert on the dashboard read the coolant temperature was too high. Then a second later the coolant alarm went away, the temperature gauge dropped back to normal and the engine started back up. This happened too fast to be an actual problem with the coolant temperature. It happened as described here: [XXX] If this had happened 3 seconds sooner, I would have been stuck in traffic while making a left turn. I'm a little shocked NHTSA has precluded this is not a dangerous issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
