The car stopped trickle charging even though it wasn't at 100%. When I turned it on, there was a warning message indicating an electrical failure. I called the dealership and they said it was unsafe to drive it the 2-3 miles to the dealership so it had to be towed. Once it was diagnosed, the dealership told me the ICCU had failed. This is a known defect in this car that for some reason has not been resolved with the previous recalls, and the replacement units that are installed are just as prone to failure as the original. It is expected that I will have the car back approximately one week after it was towed to the dealership.

Ioniq 5 is known to have a loose and possibly dangling wire underneath the driver seat. This wire is often uncovered and unshielded, and is susceptible to becoming damaged due to the automatic seats and adjustments. This wire directly operates the airbag and if damaged loses all functionality. Hyundai is not covering any damage to this wire under warranty, and this poses an immediate threat to anyone driving their vehicle.

The ICCU, which is an electrical component that charges the 12 volt battery, failed. As a result the power drained completely and the car shut down. This is a safety issue because it happened while driving and my husband just barely had time to get the car over to the side of the road. It has also been know to happen to cars of this model while driving on a highway, which is obviously very dangerous. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer - Gary Rome Hyundai in Holyoke MA. They ordered us a new ICCU, which took about a month to get. Orders for the ICCU's are backed up because this problem has been happening to so many cars. And as the dealer reported, the problem has been known to happen to the same car multiple times, even after the ICCU is replaced. The vehicle was not inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance. It was towed to the dealership for repair. There were no warning messages until the battery started failing and it was only about a minute before the car shut down.

- #11691481October 5, 2025LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Description of Defect/Incident Model and Feature: This complaint concerns a significant safety defect in the Driver Attention Monitoring System (DAMS), which is specifically the Forward Attention Warning (FAW) feature, on the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Defect: The DAMS system is generating false positive "Pay Attention" warnings with an excessive, loud, and high-pitch chime multiple times per hour while the driver is clearly and actively paying attention to the road. This happens regardless of driving conditions (city, highway, sunlight, darkness) and without any valid trigger. Safety Consequence (The Critical Issue): This issue appears to be a systemic defect, as numerous other owners have reported the exact same pattern of frequent false warnings on online owner forums and social media groups. E.g. [XXX] , [XXX] The false warnings create an unreasonable risk to safety in two ways: Driver Distraction: The constant, intrusive, and erroneous auditory and visual warnings are a direct and severe driver distraction. The driver is forced to look away from the road to confirm the system status, check the camera light, or physically gesture to the camera, which is counterproductive to safe driving. Warning Desensitization: The high frequency of false alarms leads to the driver becoming desensitized to the warning chimes. This creates a severe risk that the driver will ignore or dismiss a future legitimate warning from the Forward Attention Warning or other critical safety systems, potentially resulting in a collision. Request for Action: I am filing this complaint to urge NHTSA to investigate this pattern of false warnings in the Hyundai Ioniq 5's DAMS/FAW system as a safety-related defect. The current behavior of the system creates a hazardous condition on the road that requires a prompt engineering solution or recall. The car will not allow me to use the LKA feature while wearing sunglasses. It allows it, but it gives nonstop alarms and warnings, because it can’t see my eyes? It makes the feature nearly unusable, which takes the safety feature away from the user. Even with the warning turned OFF, it still beeps. There’s literally a setting to not activate the warning, it still does it. I’ll attach a photo of the setting turned OFF. And yet it still beeps constantly. I live in Los Angeles and the sun is bright here. There must be a fix for this?

For the check electrical warning. Took to dealer and they diagnosed it as a failed ICCU. In another issue, smelling sharpie from the air vent. Which might indicate a HVAC issue.

- #11689922September 26, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
FORWARD ATTENTION WARNING When driving, the vehicle randomly and repeatedly warns the driver to pay attention to the road even when the driver is facing forward and paying attention to the road. The system will also randomly and repeatedly alarm, disable cruise control and apply the brakes even when the driver has both hands on the wheel and is facing forward. This has nearly caused crashes. Hyundai states the system is working as designed and suggested: 1. Driver is too tall for the system see my eyes. 2. Do not wear prescription glasses. 3. Do not wear sunglasses. Research has revealed hundreds and hundreds of similar complaints. Hyundai has issued a technical service bulletin 25-GI-001H stating there is nothing wrong with the vehicle and states drivers who are tall, short, wear glasses will experience this.

- #11689427September 24, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The forward collision system will intermittently erroneously detect objects in front of the vehicle while stopped or in motion. While driving on the freeway, this will cause the car to engage the emergency braking system endangering those in and around the car. While stop to the stoplight, this causes the front detection alarm to go off. The dealership has reproduced the error and tried software updates and replacing sensors, but the problem persists.

The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) in my 2022 Hyundai Ioniq has not been diagnosed or repaired despite being at the dealership for 3 months for a safety recall. The ICCU controls the vehicle’s electrical and charging systems, and a malfunction could prevent the vehicle from charging or operating properly, creating a risk of loss of propulsion while driving. Two different Hyundai dealers have had the vehicle since July 11, 2025, but no diagnosis or repair has been completed. I have escalated the issue to Hyundai Corporate, but there has been no resolution or communication of a timeline. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. No warning lamps or messages were reported prior to the dealer receiving the vehicle, as the car was delivered specifically for the recall repair. Due to this unresolved recall, I have been without my vehicle for 3 months, which has caused significant hardship and forced me to rent a vehicle temporarily. I was given a loaner vehicle eventually but this vehicle is not comparable to my ioniq5. Both dealer's gave excuses for the lack of diagnosing and repairs, ranging from "technician is on jurty duty" or "the climate is too hot outside to look at it."

I was driving the car on [XXX], and I got a battery management system warning light (DTC P0B6D00). When I got home, my car wouldn't charge. I took the car to the dealership for service for this light. Without the ability to charge and battery issues, it affects the drivability of the car and the car may stop if there isn't enough charge when driving. The problem has been reproduced by the dealer, and there was an attempt to replace a part, but it caused the light to go off 3 more times. The car has been at the dealership since June 23rd, 2025 without resolution. There were no other warnings or messages prior to this failure as the car ran without any issues. A severe vibration started suddenly in the steering wheel and persisted between ~55 and 65mph. The first occurrence almost caused a crash on the highway and significant driver input force was needed to control the car. The dealer found that quieting foam glued inside the tire had come loose and caused an unbalance. They started they had seen this several times now on these cars.

Had all previous open recalls for iccu performed. No previous warning in car. Driving unto free way. Loud noise like a tire pop. 12 volt low power warning on dash screen. Car began to lose power. Picture of a turtle shows up. Low power warning. Car lost power within 10 seconds. And couldn't accelerate. Extremely dangerous. Once completely stopped the car turned off and couldn't start again. Was able to get car to turn on with jumper cables by tow truck. But couldn't get to "start" engine. Dealership says the 12 volt battery and iccu needs to be replaced. They are blaming the issue on the fact that I had an aftermarket subwoofer installed and don't want to cover under warranty. Car ran fine with said subwoofer for a year prior with no additional changes. Have used same subwoofer and amp on multiple cars with no issue.

The car would not start when start button was pressed. Warning on the dash said 12v battery critically low. This happened on three different occasions. After jump starting the car, everything works as normal. I am able to turn off and turn on again as expected. 12v battery was tested and seems to be fine. Even the OBD2 readings show battery as working correctly. There seems to be a software glitch that makes the car think that the 12v battery is low. The high voltage battery was charged to above 70 at least on all three occasions. Now I carry a external jumper battery to avoid this situation

I was driving along and got a warning to pull over due to low power. This is the third time this has occurred and is a well--documented failure point for this vehicle. I go in for "repair", things are checked and sometimes software is updated and then within months the problem returns. Very unsafe being stranded on a high speed, two land rural road at night. It has been flat bedded to the dealer and tomorrow I will here theri song and dance.

The tubing that is used to connect the windshield washer reservoir to the nozzles that deliver the washer fluid to the windshield is prone to rodent activity. This tubing has been punctured by rodents twice now - with one intervening tube replacement. I have to replace the tubing again today. It has been less than two weeks since I last replaced the tubing. The replacement tubing was purchased from a Hyundai dealership. It appears that this will be an ongoing issue that will impact the operational safety of the vehicle.

Since I have purchased the car it has: 1) the car has failed and stopped moving 3 separate times. It only has 290 miles on it. 1) been unable to charge on AC power (L1 and L2 chargers) 2) barely able to charge on DC chargers. 325kwh Tesla supercharger gave 9kwh.

On numerous occasions starting May 2024 and continuing through July 2025, my 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 displayed a “Check electric vehicle system” error upon starting the vehicle. In June 2024, Hyundai replaced the vehicle's VCM under warranty. In December 2024, the car wouldn't start. Hyundai replaced the 12v battery under warranty. In April 2025, the vehicle would not drive above 20 mph and warned of imminent shutdown while driving and Hyundai eventually replaced the ICCU under warranty. And in July 2025, Hyundai replaced the charging port under warranty. In all, the vehicle has been out service for 95 days while being repaired under warranty and most of those days I was not provided with a loaner vehicle. During the ICCU replacement, I was forced to rent a vehicle two separate times to get to work. Hyundai assured me that I would be reimbursed both for costs associated with the rental vehicles and the loss of use of my vehicle while under repairs, however despite multiple emails and conversations and having provided all requested documentation, I have received no reimbursement from Hyundai. Please assist me in obtaining reimbursement from Hyundai as soon as possible. Thank you!

- #11684129August 30, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
I purchased my 2025 Ioniq 5 Limited less than a week ago and have found that adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist systems are essentially non-functional because of repeated false warnings from the Driver Attention System. Purported to monitor the driver's attention by watching the eyes, this system clearly doesn't work well enough to serve it's purpose and, in fact, causes unnecessary distractions and unsafe conditions with repeated and frequent false positive warnings. The first warnings caution the driver to keep his/her eyes on the road (my eyes are on the road) and escalate to point where ACC and lane keeping assist are turned off. Since the drive attention warnings cannot be turned off when in ACC with lane keeping assist are active, the only recourse is to turn off lane keeping assist, making this system essentially non-functional and useless. Note: Hyundai is aware of this and has issued at least one TSB advising that some eyewear may prevent the system from functioning properly and that this is considered "normal" leaving the driver to find suitable eyewear. I do not usually drive with sun glasses and having the car manufacturer suggest that their system may be impacted by my prescription glasses (which I do wear while driving) and the fix to this potentially dangerous situation is to replace my glasses is ludicrous. I have also done limited testing without my glasses and find that it has no impact on the false warnings. Per Hyundai's TSB I have made sure that my driver's position is such that the monitor's camera has an unobstructed view of my eyes and is not blocked at any time by my hands or arms while I'm holding the wheel.
